Spines are ugly!
On the topic of Spines, what is the best single-target chain for that set?
|
Spines blows at single target.

Updated. I logged on when it was dark and didn't feel like waiting until it was light out. I tried adding shoulders, but they poke through too much. I added a cape and the cape ended up being in the front during some animations. I went to change the color for /elec, but it was already as dark as the light setting would go and the dark setting was always too dark. I think for the level 30+ outfit I'll add a helmet.
Lunge, Impale, Ripper, and whatever single target blast you have from an APP/PPP.

Oh I know that. I'd just like to have something handy when I do face only a single target.

So I won't be using an APP that has a single target blast. Could I make do with Lunge> Impale> Lunge> Ripper? Here is my build. Built for level 50 with Destiny, specifically Ageless Core Epiphany. That Destiny also gives me some extra Recharge, but definitely not on par with taken Hasten. Still, it will be a nice addition.
It's got most of what I want, decent Recharge, Smashing/Lethal Defense softcapped, lots of AoE capability, KB protection, plenty of Accuracy, etc. Some of the attacks are not fully in the red for Damage enhancement values, but I feel they are good enough.

Maybe putting in Burn on the ST chain...
Burn->Impale->Ripper->Impale
Could put in the -res proc on either Burn or Ripper
Just gotta train yourself not to see the redraw
Edit:
Scratch that... I think that's just too much for too little
Ripper->Impale->Lunge with all purples and the -res in Ripper might just be the way to go
I really don't know... cause honestly.... Spines are just so ugly!

Here's what I've got on Phoenix Fury. (Dragon/vanguard/Original) costumes. I really like the customizability of spines now.

Fire blast has far higher DPS than either lunge or impale if you have the choice of taking that epic. Quite simply, impale is just too slow and lunge (if you chose to replace that with fire blast) is simply inferior because it's not ranged (and it does less damage, though it is also fast). It's also fire damage instead of lethal with just a tiny smattering of toxic, but if you can't take that APP you can't take it.
|
HOWEVER...I did screw up in my post...it was Throw Spines - Impale - Ripper - Repeat for the best chain using just Spine attacks.
No using Lunge.
So, if I'm not mistaken, using that chain (Throw Spines - Impale - Ripper) should equal about 138ish DPS. Add in 2 damage auras (Quills + DA/FA/ELA's Aura) should add about 40 +/- DPS to a single target.
Seeing as how Ripper can take a -Resist Proc (which my guess on DPS doesn't include), that's going to help a bit as well
What I don't know, is if adding Fire Blast into the mix will help with that chains DPS (as MiDS numbers are off on Fire Blast, last I knew).
Adding Burn, I would think, should be an increase in DPS.

Burn (and this is going to sound wierd) I think is actually my strongest single target attack (stronger than ripper, unless ripper crits). It is an absolute beast, I fight those rikti battlesuits pretty often, and they don't seem to go down until burn, where they drop like half their health.
The effect is odd, I have both almost a full ranged ST attack chain, and a fully ranged AoE attack chain (because I use fireball too). the only melee attack I use (as in I actually contact the enemy) is ripper. It makes you feel much more like a psychotic Dualy damage aura'd blaster than a scrapper. Esp considering BU+FE is pretty much Aim+BU

I don't have numbers for it, but since I replaced lunge with fire blast my damage has very obviously gone up (I just stole all the slots, since I can't completely retire lunge).

So would putting Fire Blast in there to replace or just in addition too, increase the DPS of that chain? Seeing as how redraw on Spines doesn't effect Spines DPS, the redraw would just be annoying more than anything else.
Also, unless my memory is just completely wrong, yeah, the Rikti will die faster to burn, but that's because they have Lethal Resistance and no Fire Resistance. So of course you'll see them fall faster to Burn.

I could go with Burn on my Single Target chain, but as you can see my build does not have Blaze Mastery in it. I needed to pick Body Mastery to save on slots and get a boost in Endurance Recovery.
So the best single target DPS I can do with my build is Ripper>Throw Spines>Impale>Repeat?

End costs can be mitigated if you manage to free up some slots for consume (as an end recovery tool) or if you get the ageless or barrier t4 incarnate powers. Ageless for direct recovery/rech, barrier to free up slots you're using just to fill kinetic combats. Both of those are perma at t4 so you should definitely checkem out, once incorporated into your actual build they make a huge difference.

I forgot about the Obliterations. I was just slotting them up one after another the same way for some reason. Will refine the build a little bit more. Oh. That's why I dd it that way. The Endurance enhancement values are less than half of what I get for 6 slotting Obliteration instead of the way I had it.
I did mention the build will be using Ageless Core Epiphany. I let the net Endurance Recovery be lower than I can tolerate so I can lean on said Destiny power, which is permanent at T4.

Here is one of my costumes for Nathanial Raven (spines/dark).
Concept is that the Primal Earth Nathan was a magic user that opened a portal to alternate dimensions. Once he stepped into one of the new dimensions his alternate had to take his place here on Primal Earth. Problem is Primal Nathanial has gotten stuck in a loop where he no longer can control what dimension he pops up in. So I have 4 costumes that I rotate through as I play him
1) Primal Nathanial Raven - Magic user (no pics currently)
2) Robo N.A.T.E - Dark powers colors black and grey to look like floating nanites.
3) Sand Dimenion Nathanial (Seen above) Dark powers colored tan to look like sand and does a good job IMHO.SPines powers use the crystal spines because sand compressed or heated becomes glass...
4) Plant Dimension Nathanial Dark powers colored green/yellow to look like pollen plus the leaves aura during battle.
5) Awaiting a good concept.... Probably going with the obvious of an actual Raven now that the animal pack is out, I just don't know how to make the spines work with that. Also, not convinced I'd have any other use to the Animal Pack....
Hmmm dang no screenshots folder in CoX file, anyone know how to replace it (go easy on me, I am tech-dumb).
What outfit is this? I am just back after a long hiatus but I've never seen this and it looks awesome!
