"Re-rolling" main power and origin

Is it possible as a Mutant based energy blaster, to re-roll into a technology based dual pistol blaster? I ask because my character would fit much better with dual pistols than mutant energy as I look like a robot. The Respec appears to only let rechoose powers from within the sets you've already choosen.

Thanks for feedback on this. Been away for a while and am picking up all teh new stuff as I go along.

Unfotunately your only option would be to remake the character with the desired origin and powerset.

Yeah that is what I was afraid of. I'm level 27 now and it has taken me 6 years (off and on play) to get that far, starting over now is not an option. Thanks for the response!

Another option is to pick a gloves costume option that look like arm cannons for you energy blast and ignore the fact that you selected mutant.

Or, maybe your mutation is only intellectual and has given you the intelligence to create the technology for your energy blasting robo-arms. I seem to remember a character from X-Men whose mutant ability enabled him to create any weapon he could imagine....Forge I think was his name (it's been many years, so I could be way off base with that reference). Perhaps your energy blaster has something like that going on.

The bottom line is, there are ways to write your background to include mutant abilities and technology.

Yeah current story is I was born a mutant, fell prey to a disease, and a robotics genius was able to save me at the expense of a large part of my humanity.

Well, I think that works great then. The only issue is that you want DP instead of energy, and as a proud owner of both, I MUCH prefer energy. That isn't to say DP is bad, it isn't. But energy just has a super powerful feel to it and when you get to level 32 and see how awesome Nova is, you'll never go back.

You could go to a tailor, save your Mutant's current "robotic" costume, then create a second character on the same server, a Technology-origin Dual Pistols Blaster using that costume. Then go back in the tailor and change your Mutant's costume to something more mutant-looking.

Your memory serves you correctly. And Forge even had a robo-arm (and a robo-leg).

Make friends with someone who can PowerLevel you in AE. You could make a new Technology DP Blaster and be level 27 in an hour or two and never leave Atlas Park.

You have been away for a while. The road from level 1-27 is much smoother and faster than it used to be. You can do it in a week or two if you play just a couple hours a night, focusing on just the one character, faster if you team rather than solo.

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

Honestly, I would just start over. It doesn't take that long to get to level 27 any more. Maybe 20 hours of playtime at most? I've done 1-21 in a single (long, about 12 hours) day of playing, and that was with no powerleveling or farming.

I concur - hell, a sewer run and some Perez streetsweeping will get you to Lv10 in an hour or so at most.

Sounds like you could use some gaming buddies; leveling usually goes faster in groups. Have you looked in the global channels on your server? Great way to join task forces, and the levels really roll in when you're running TFs...plus you have a chance to meet cool people you can add to your friends lists.
