Ss/fa?

Really thinking about rolling this toon. I have an elec/sd brute that can take on just about anything and with the 2 massive AoEs he pretty much kills all in front of him. ( and behind and to both sides) But I am looking for a toon that takes more skill to play and does insane damage. I know I can soft cap s/l and I could prolly get some positional AoE def with decent reacharge and tank most anything. My question is more of balancing recharge, def and end... Is manuvers worth the end drain? I know it can make the softcap somewhat easier to reach but this toons end is a challenge even with cadiac tho consume negates that. What about Assult? and for an epic should i take Focused Acc? Obviously this toon will do insane damage anyway but I would like to stay alive with as few buffs as possible. I dont really farm and I like to team more with my lvl 50 toons but it would be nice to be able to run a pug team that may or may not boost def and survive. I have a decent little nest egg to spend and money has never been a problem so I am looking for a build that may or may not cost a butt load... Also would like to see some builds if you would be so kind as to post. I am a visual learner.

Maneuvers *does* make reaching the softcap easier by a few percentage. The endurance isn't as big a problem as you might think, even pre-Cardiac. Plus it helps your team out as a fringe benefit.

The reason being everything has died horribly before you run out... and there's a good chance a blue dropped. Most of your endurance problems will come from rage and/or hasten crashing, not toggle drain.

That being said Assault is crap for a brute, especially one stacking Rage. Focussed accuracy these days is also crap, in my opinion. The -tohit debuff resistance is the nicest thing about it in the IO age... and again, Rage makes it a waste of endurance.

Still working on my own SS/FA Brute build, but I'd say take Manuevers myself, but with Rage, I'm not to sure you really need Focused Accuracy, especially with Rage being perma and stacking.

I'm going with Fire or Soul Epic myself, just havent figured out a build I'm happy with yet. Though still having fun with my Brute!

Ok so what powers are skipable and what should I not be without?

Posted

SS: Punch, Haymaker, KO Blow, Rage, Foot Stomp. Everything else is skippable, but taunt can be useful if that's your thing.

FA: Fire Shield, Blazing Aura, Plasma Shield, Healing Flames, Consume, Burn, Fiery Embrace. Temp Protection and RotP are skippable, but they can be useful.

my ss/fa is just a farmer, but i went energy, and put 3 perf shifter procs in him. no end issues whatsoever, and heath still has 2 empty slots for the numi/miracle procs. I like having jab for an attack to keep using if the rest are recharging though, but probably not really needed. Temp protection is good if ur gonna fire farm.

can I go with spiritual incarnate and still maintain my end with consume? I have desided to go with SS/FA/Mu so i have more AoE's and reacharge is a must with this toon but I'm a little concerned that Consume may not pop up as fast as I need to maitain my end without cardiac.

With good slotting in Consume, you only need to hit one enemy to top yourself up most of the time, and two or three to fill the bar from 0. Also remember that, since the revamp to FA, Consume now adds Recovery for each target hit.

If you slot it well, I'm sure Consume can negate all your Endurance issues.

Tell me what im doing wrong and what im doing right... I took Taunt and temp prot just for the potential set bonuses. Other than that I am pretty standard.

Even if you do like to farm I'd suggest soul. Gloom is sexy as hell backed by 300% or more damage bonus, and even the fairly anemic dark obliteration is good enough to finish off whatever lived after burn and footstomp.

I would NEVER recomend soul when it comes to farming. At least not ambushs, which is what i recomend for farming, i used to farm with /soul and then i respeced into /mu. At the time nothing else had changed on the build other than that and my time went down from 6 or 4 minutes a mish. So mu is what, 33% better?

Well, according to city of data Ball Lightning does 12 energy damage and 4 ticks of 7.5 energy damage for a total of 42 damage. Dark obliteration does 37 negative energy damage. Both have the same recharge and cast time.

While 5 base damage does become significant once you add enhancments, fury, Rage, red insps, etc does it become 33% significant? I'll take your word on it.

(Unless you were using electrifying fences as well... but soul tentacles does more damage so I don't know how that would help things.)

If your Brute is solely for farming, then no I wouldn't go with Soul Mastery. However, if you do other things with it, then Soul Mastery is excellent. Although, my SS/Fire/Soul can still rake in 2 mil inf/minute without using inspirations.

Using fences as well is the idea. Soul tentacles, it turns out, is horrible AoE and hits about 3 targets or so even in an ambush.

I plan on mainly farming with him for the most part at least at first. I can easily make a second build with Soul later as it will add to my survivablity for TF's and such.

If you plan making a farming build I wouldn’t worry about s/l def and just slot as much +rech as you can. This is actually what i did with mine. Making **** tons of inf is fun, and it’s actually incentive to farm when it’s all you can do haha.
