Electric / ?? Brute

Hello,

I'm about to embark in a new mission... oh and I'm starting a new character

I want the primary set as Electric but I'm not to sure on the secondary

I was thinking either - Electric, Energy, Invul, Shield, Willpower - Leaning more towards the Shield.

What do you 'guys' think is the best combo?

Thanks in Advance,

.S

I would go for either Elec/Shield or Elec/Elec, as those have the most synergy IMO.

Elec/Shield is the top combination for burst AoE damage, and Elec/Elec is a good sapping combo with a recharge bonus(Lightning Rod up sooner).

Auroxis - Emp/Rad/Power Defender Pylon Video Soloing an AV
Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster

If you're leaning towards Shield make a Scrapper, not a Brute. Scrapper shielders do way more damage than their Brute counterparts, and the Brutes don't outsurvive them by much.

I won't give you any specific suggestions since I just can't get into ElM, but here are some pointers on the secondaries you mentioned. ElA and SD are the most offensive ones, with the difference being that SD is simpler to play and more survivable on average. ElA is purely offensive and relies on tricks to survive - a click heal with a long recharge that increases your regeneration for 30 s after being activated, endurance sapping and recovery. With ElA, you won't have endurance issues, ever. You can also use it to effectively sap the mobs so that if you survive the alpha, you drain them of end so they're left without their hardest hitters. You'll also have more recharge with /ElA which is very beneficial to ElM. So yeah, of those two offensive sets, SD is more on the defensive side and ElA is even more offensive.

Invul and WP are survivability monsters, no question about it, and will outsurvive any other secondary you listed if you build for that. WP offers a much smoother ride to 50 but Invul peaks higher in certain situations, so it's really a matter of preference.

EA is an odd beast. You'll have trouble holding aggro like with other Brute secondaries because it doesn't have a taunt aura. Instead, it has a taunt component in its AoE endurance recovery power, but since you can only use it every 15-25 seconds it's not a true substitute. Just like ElA you'll never have end problems but it doesn't sap as well. The ride to 50 will be the roughest out of the listed sets, although it can be made quite survivable later on. What makes it special is its unsupressing stealth aura - you'll be able to engage half of a spawn without the other half noticing, and similar. If that's not your cup of tea, other secondaries are much better for you.

Wow, thank you for the write up Exxar.

I already have 2 scrappers (claws / regen and MA / SR) which is why I didn't want to make another scrapper. I've seen plenty of Electric / Shield scappers and they are amazing but two scrappers is enough.... for now

I still don't know what to do

Just putting some builds though Mids and I like the sound of WP.

Thanks again

I absolutely love my Elec/WP brute. Put some IO's in there to boost HP and def and you can be a monster.

After you get past 30 or so. Before that it can be a pain if you don't pick your opponents carefully.

@Nalrok_AthZim, I plan to do a SS / Invul tanker after I level this brute or along side my blaster

@Exxar, i'm playing along side my brother who is a dual pistol / cold defender so we should be able to last quite a bit

Elec/Fire. Two exotic types of damage (not often resisted) amassed together in AoE carnage. It's pretty insane.

But since you said nothing about considering /Fire, I'd say /SD. Two fun TP attacks with plenty of AoE clean up ability.

I have both builds (the the Shield is a tank) and both are fun.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

I vote Elec/Fire too. You'll have lots of damage and be a little squishier, but you should be fine backed by a Cold.

Missed the part that mentioned the Cold Defender. In which case, you'll be doing pretty well. My Elec/Fire is IOd for 28.5% S/L/E/N defense and has 50% recharge. He usually melts away the mobs before needing a second Healing Flames. Certainly before he needs a third.

I have one of these also and the amount of AoE damage is just insane. You do have to deal with being a little squishy, but it is a lot of fun.
