Barracuda SF - Wow that sucks.

I knew there was a reason I hadn't run this in years.

After 40 minutes of beating Reichsman, getting him to 50% health, then having him go "Unbreakable" and recharging to 85% health - it purely sucked. This isn't "fun" challenging gameplay - this is suckfest gameplay.

I'll have to wait until next week until I try to get my next Notice of the Well.

Is it somehow different from the version in the Kahn TF? I haven't run Barracuda, but I've run Kahn tons of times and I don't think that ever happened to me.

Baracuda is very different. Having certain AT's move things along quickly. Masterminds are given the the temp power that breaks Reichsman cheat power. Stalkers get the temp power to go to the control rooms that kill oncoming ambushes while you are fighting Reichsman.

did it in 1 hr 50 mins.....
BAD
it can take longer than 3 kahns with wrong team....Kahn team really didnt matter i did damage build and troller build for team both easy ....

it more running around than Kahn ( eventhough Kahn sends you to PI you can still oro it) Barracuda makes you the messenger boy to LR and back

GW,Sir,BS, and Mako are all 50s and 51s unlike STF that they are 54s ..

GOOD

Lot of purple drops n shards

general ease that reichman went down ( faster than Kahn but if u wade tru 10 ambushes)

UGLY
People after doing kahn get impatient in baracuda.. if kahn is taking 19 to 55 mins this takes easy 19 mins to 2 hrs depending on team

Baracuda always got short end of the stick

as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.

Barracuda is definitely more a challenge. The story content is also designed better IMO as well.

I did 3 Barracudas today, each of them taking about 1 hour. Definitely need to pay attention to the team build.

And yes <3 massive ambushes.

Yeah, I feel your pain...

Did a late night 'Cuda and our only form of support was a corruptor... who DC'd after the first mission and never came back :P Left us with a Tank, Stalker, Blaster, Soldier and 3 Scrappers. Not the ideal team make up for the final fight. We ended up dropping shivans and a Heavy after a while just because the fight was taking so long.

Just a painful fight without a Defender or MM for the temp power, and that is just very poor game design. Ah well.

What I like about Barracuda is the ambush of a thousand nazis. Good chance for a Purple drop.
I had a defender on my team, but we couldn't remember which AT was the analogue to MM. Looks like it never got used since we had him go to his machine twice and go Unaffected 4 times.

We finally beat him simply because we drained his end and he couldn't activate it.

Must haves for the 'Cuda is a Mastermind... or apparently a Defender.

I felt more insulted to realize that the Khan (much easier, no special team composition, etc), is 30 merits.

I actually think they're backwards by accident. I remember reading Barracuda was suppose to be 30 and Kahn 20 back during i18.

I bugged it. Its really a much more challenging fight overall and it takes longer. It really should be 30 merits.

Well, sadly since TF/SF rewards are based on total time averages which include travel times and repetitive/defeat all missions, as opposed to actual difficulty, most of the TFs give greater rewards than the SFs. Time trumps challenge.

I understand that they wanted all AT's to have some use in Cuda, hence only lolstalkers can enter the laser room prior to GR.

How about tweaking it so that all AT's get the power to remove Bison/Reichsman's unstoppable power, thus removing dependence on MM/Defenders or being shafted if said character on team disconnects and can't return?

I did my first ever BSF last night with a Virtue PUG team and what I realized is that if you end up getting overwhelmed/wiped by the ambushes, the best thing to do is have everyone exit by dying, or as suggested in another thread, teleporting out via O-Portal.

When we all regrouped at the mission entrance, we were able to bottle up the ambushes at a choke point on the catwalks and whittle them down ala the Spartans at Thermopylae (sp). This made finishing the SF MUCH easier for us.

On the brightside it does finally provide a need for a Mastermind, right?

Last time I was on a BSF the team had two Dominators (I was one) which made the last room much more managable, allowing the rest of the team to focus on Reichsman. But yeah Cuda's SF is far harder than Khan's TF. I think the ambushes eventually stop though right? You could just keep clearing them until they stop, then go after Reichsman, if you have the time that is. May the force be with you, if you're attempting a Master run...

I'm well aware of that. On average however a Barracuda FF takes longer then a Kahn TF.

yes the waves stop you can go to cave and fight reichmen never goes down stairs. aprox 10 waves 5 waves all together then a stop then reich says " 2nd wave attack" ( or something like that) then another 5 waves...

"Second wave attack!" "OH CRAP!"

Anyway, I tagged along for a Kahn earlier today. It went by so fast sometimes I swear I barely stepped in the mission door before stepping back out.
