*Waves*

I successfully tanked a LRSF with my frankenslotted Dark Armor Tanker. No defense set bonuses to be found.

2:30 STF last night (fairly time-consuming by my standards).

Team:

1 Mind/Cold Controller
2 Peacebringers (both triform)
1 Blaster (Fire)
1 Rad/Dark Defender
1 Illusion/FF Controller
1 /Inv Brute
1 Elec/Kin Controller

TF went swimmingly until the last mission.
Tried to pull one of them, two came out. Whittled down Mako to a few slivers of health and the others came. Used Mass Hypnosis to sleep them but GW broke Sleep and bad things happened. Eventually they reset, I used sleep to pacify them and Ghost Widow was taken down, then Scirocco, then Mako then Black Scorpion.

We had issues with the Towers, in that the Brute didn't have Taunt but aggrod LR fairly well but lost aggro, causing a wipe on Red Tower. We loaded up on Insps, took down Red Tower, re-inspd, took down Yellow, then Blue then Green. This part took about 35 minutes or so in between a wipe or two, inspirations, creative pulling of LR and toggles....we had the flying Rad/Dark hover above Lord Recluse, causing him to run around in circles; at that point the Brute tagged LR and we were fine.

So...not a speed run by ANY means, but a PuG group got it done with some concerted effort and teamwork and direction. Granted, I'd much have preferred a hour or less run, but can't complain about the Enzyme and even less the teamwork.

Oh, no one panicked when Cysts showed up, we just obliterated them.

50 minute LRSF run.

1 Crab Spider with Pets (MasterCrab build)
1 SS/Inv Brute
1 Dual Pistols/Dark Corr
1 Fire/Rad Corr
1 Mind/Electric Dominator (Perma)
1 Sonic/Cold Corr
Two others, think a Scrapper and a Thugs/Dark MM.

Steamroll mission one.
Steamroll mission two.
Steamroll missions three and four.
Dom sleeps the group, we pull the AVs one at a time. At one point we had two come and dealt with them fairly efficiently.

Great group but in this case, we had three familiar players (the Brute, Corr and my Crab Spider team constantly), wheras in the first group we were mostly a PuG with three SG members.

Looking forward to Barracuda/Kahn!

Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.
Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes

After quitting the TF, I sent the leader a tell to let them know the tank already had the Saved the World badge. Had obviously survived the TF. And that it was their damned loss

Elitism is an ugly thing
For what it's worth, with a half-way decent team behind you a WP tank is absolutely capable of handling the STF. Your leader was being a goof.

I took my first run at main-tanking it last weekend with Palrah (my own WP/DB, who's off-tanked it a few times and has his Master Of-), and while facing off with Recluse was nerve-wracking for me, as a player, because I hadn't done it before, we didn't have any real trouble beating it as a team. 1:30 non-speed run, with very few deaths. It wasn't bad.

The real thing about that, though, is having to have a solid team to begin with. A relatively-squishy WP tank running with a less experienced or balanced group would definitely feel any short-comings more than his tougher Stone cousin would.

That's where the real difficulty is, I think. o_0

This is one of the reasons why I don't run LRSF and STF often. I simply don't like the level of AT/powerset exclusions that go on.

I was the second person to join, so I had to wait a bit, but eventually we got 8 people, we started gathering at the first mission door, the team leader was standing by Recluse... and then the leader sends me a tell saying little more than "sorry", and I get kicked.

I discovered later that a 9th person had asked the leader to join, and they weren't a MM, so they got my spot.

I can understand the hesitation about an unknown Mastermind player, but if I may brag a little, my MM is beefy. I'm also willing, able, and smart enough to dismiss and resummon my pets for things such as stealthing to the Slinger, and navigating Atlas Park in the present and future without drawing aggro. Then when I respecced to get inherent Stamina, I picked up TP Foe, which works great for pulling Vindicators or Future Freedom Phalanx. (It's not quite so good for the tightly packed lv54 aggro monkey present FP.)

So what Moo said while speaking a bit off the cuff is quite correct.

It occurred later that it was a really awful thing to say. Everyone who plays the game has payed for the right to attempt and try to learn how to overcome any one of the challenges it presents. 'Keyed' content are one of the most obnoxious game mechanics I've ever encountered in an MMO. Not only does it restrict what a player can do in the game, but it lends itself to abuse and elitism.
Sure for the right team STF is a less than 30 minute speed run but for other teams it could be all but impossible. So, the level of "stacking" the deck is pretty high. I'm glad there are other players who see this too.

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

It's actually very difficult to make it absolutely impossible with 8 committed, attentive players. Teams generally simply quit well before the point of impossibility ever arises.
