Incarnate question - "any 2 rares" ?

I thought I had read that the very rare enhancement requires as ingredients, "any 2 rares".

But, when I look in game at the requirements it says I need Musculature Partial Core Revamp and Musculature Partial Radial Revamp.

The rare I created to use was Musculature Total Radial Revamp. So is "any" two rares wrong and to make a very rare I have to start pretty much all over and make two different rares from the one I'm actually using?

It does appear to be the partials only.
That was a surprise to me too, but one I caught in time.

Not sure I understand the design intent... but there it is.

Fooled a few people (myself included!) - you can scroll down further and there are recipes for each combination of rares to create very rare enhancements.

Look on the right hand side of that window.. you'll see a scrollbar. You'll find the several different combinations in that list.

i totally forgot about the scroll and i started to get angry when i was looking at it because my friend had asked me if he needed to go across from where he was to go up and pick one on the left or right.


ty for reminding me but the question still remains of how do any of us obtain 2 rares when each time we created one to even get to our first lvl shift we lost the previous.

noone has yet explained that one to me.
i took the dmg alpha one err muscular or whatever i think its called back when alphas came out.

clearly we all start off from the initial one. I noticed the moment i had enough shards to go up and craft whichever one i wanted that the first one was no longer there but i never paid it any attention figuring that it was just upgraded to whichever one i chose.

but now that i need to rares the question remains how do i have 2 when each time i craft to another the other vanishes?

it also seems i will pretty much have to somehow have them all just to get to the top which is also baffling to me cause if that was the case then... how is that even possible when they keep vanishing when you make the next upgrade? boy i never thought i'd get confused by this by a simple question from a friend


since before he asked i was pretty confident that i knew how it worked and i personally didn't make a mistake but after that as you can see my confidence just dropped completely ^_^;;

Crafting an upper tier uses one of the tier below. To craft a second rare you have to craft another common, then an uncommon.

dang, they really make you work for it i see

and here i thought my lvl shift tier would just vanish if i crafted another common. ty for clarifying it for me.

yep! that's how they suck us in and keep us playing the weekly target thing was proof enough for me.
you pretty much gotta wait a month to even get the final alpha of your choice, need 4 notices and since we get 1 notice a week... eesh. thats 2 more weeks for me though.
now if only shards would drop more often like when the alpha thing first started

ran the khan tf today with 3 scrappers and a blaster while i was on my elec tank. i went in with 0 shards and by the time we were done i had 2, and someone else only got 1

i then ran one of my contact missions on 1+8 and all i got for all the effort was just 1 shard. it seems like some say once you get the level shift or whatever the shard rate drops.

i used to easilly get up to 5 shards a mission run well every other run but now only 1? what gives. and i used to get 5 in the mothership raids, did one a couple of days ago on my brute and only got 3 for the entire time i was there =\

If that's what you are seeing consistently, unequip your Alpha and see if that affects the drop rate.
(I haven't had a chance to try)

as i stand inside my warrior mission i thought occurred to me. what if it wasn't the upgrade to the new hancy so much as a decrease in shard drop rates period? i mean we had a couple of patch updates within the last 2 weeks, this could of been one of the things they did.

i mean has anyone even given any thought to that? I'm sure those who have shards and who are hunting them never really sit and think how many they get per run of whatever they are doing +time it took to get them and see if its consistant.

I mean when alphas came out i was but after i had enough to get my 2nd lvl tier i pretty much stopped keeping count and i didnt bother to really get any on my tank until the weekly strike thing started. By then i had 32 shards saved up so once i had did the stf to start the 3rd tier, i had plenty of shards to make and get started on the next ones.

I ran into some people who had over 90 shards saved up, so again if anything there could have been a decrease in drop rates without anyone even noticing accept for the slight few
who have claimed to have gotten nothing for their work or very little at all for the trouble they went through.

with that said so far i've gotten one with no hancy on but then again i knew i'd get at least 1, i mean after all we all had to get shards before we could even craft an alpha hancy so that goes without saying..... though i just said it, XD.

I've been running TFs pretty consistently since I19 was released, and I've seen no change in drop rates. I get between 4 and 6 shards on pretty much every TF I run, including a LRSF on Thursday and an ITF yesterday.

Oddly enough, I tend to get them in pairs. I'll get two within about 3 minutes of each other, and then nothing for a while. Then I'll get another pair.



...I forgot what experience means.

that is interesting. i only do tfs when targets are well targeted. i did the ms raid on my brute for shards but thats about the onlything i did that was even sort of.. team effort related in awhile. outside of the kahn tf i did this morning i mean.

i usually just do my warrior mission or radio missions on 2+8 for better chance of drops as a whole while soloing so i get all the chances ya know?

I think the lower shard rates with the alpha level shift is just perception and bad RNG luck. Earlier this week, I ran my STF to get the FotW and only got 4 shards through the whole thing. Crafted my rare and got the level shift and ran a LGTF level shifted. Got 12 shards. Same night. Only a few minutes passed between. Got more shards level shifted than not shifted.

On that note, especially with the one notice per week limit currently, I don't think it would be a bad thing to increase the shard drop rate. Before that night, the RNG hated me and I would only get a few shards per TF and rarely got any running solo. But as is, I don't think its horrible. Just wish there were more methods and a guarenteed way to get shards. Like one shard per TF/story arc mission? 2-4 per alignment mission (not tip)? 2-4 per completed story arc? A Day Job that gets you one per mission? Something in addition to the random drops. As is, its just disappointing when you have a bad night and the RNG hates you and you get only a few and you ran 3-4 TFs.

I've never gotten a shard drop or a purple recipe drop ever... mind you I don't play my Incarnate much at all anymore because of that so...

Actually I lie, I'll have to log in, I might have one shard.

I really hate to say this, I haven't run any numbers, I'm not seeing any decrease in shard drops, I'm not trying to brag or rub it in anyones face

This seems like a perception issue.

I've got over 100 shards to burn through and they seem to rain down on me, this is after I've crafted my bla bla bla...

I mainly run solo.

all those shards and nothing to do with them.

I want to make my character more powerful, but I'm stuck waiting on this gated nonsense for whatever reason.

Maybe the Well just smiles on me alot.

Maybe it's my +4 x8 diff...solo...

Maybe I'm just impatient, Maybe I just want what I paid for <GR>.
