Stf pugs

Any good stories so far this week?

I have run it about 4 times this week, on different toons, and I've only had one "interesting" occurrence. A Tank was in broadcast asking for members and I had just logged in and I thought what the hey, lucky me. I get an invite and we have 2 others on the team. I start a conversation with one of the members and he tells me he was on 3 other teams that day and all failed. He then started a conversation with the Tank (leader) and ask if he was comfortable running this SF. The silence was deafening for a few seconds and he finally said..."Well to be honest, I've never participated in this SF but I know we can do it" About that time I heard my puppy howling and I excused myself.

I tried joining one in the early afternoon, but the leader was clueless and kinda spaced out. We waited about 5 minutes for them to get back from PI just to talk to contact. By then, the server hotfix announcement was displayed, so we just left. There was no way we were going to be done in time. lol

Then I was invited to another STF later in the day (with Myrdinn) and it went beautifully. A couple of people didn't seem to know much, but the rest of the team filled in the gaps and made up for it. It ran rather quickly and I don't even think anybody died. We probably could have run it as "Mo". Good times.

I actually had a fairly great STF pug. It was my first run of STF and ran fairly smoothly and efficiently.

We had 2 trollers, One was a debuff, one was a healer, three scrappers(Me on my spines/dark/body+Uncommon Musculature), the other two I honestly can't remember, except that one of them was constantly doing stupid things, agroing the wrong spawn, standing in the wrong spot, dropping like a fly, the good news is that he made great vengence bait.

Out Tank was a WP/SS if I recall correctly and did a great job keeping us all alive and warning us for the inevitable unstoppable drops.

We only had one hard core team wipe and completed in 2 hours and 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised.

The first one I got on this week also had Paragon and we finished in about 59mins. That was a "good" for sure...

Only one I've dont this week its like 3am and I don't feel loike going to sleep. I log on my elec/elec scrapper and what do you know I end up on a team with members of the J-force and the Legendary J-Man himself! Ya we pretty much creamed everyone and I got enough stuff for my rare boost.

Normally I haven't run any task forces for about 3 years.

Not that I don't like them, they just take too darn long. So I have a few questions that might seem fairly ignorant.

I want to get my blaster and my scrapper in on one by this weekend. I started looking last night for a PUG States Force, and I couldn't get anything rolling......

I'm wondering what's probably more likely to grab an invite...? A blaster or a scrapper? I really only play these toons right now and I supposed I have to do it with each of them to simply move on in the Incarnate system anyway, so it might be a moot point.

I may just hang out with the 'looking for task force' marked in my team settings.

Oh, on a side note I did have one guy try to talk me out of doing a States task force, telling me I'd die too often. Weird.

No one did die. I was thinking about hosting a few STFs on Friday, and I was looking for deaths in that run to figure out where the touch and go moments would be (as I've only run this one a couple of times... and of those two, failed on Angus).

Was quite fun, though! We *could* have done it as a Mo... and given the number of times my machines have crashed when I tried for a Mo...
*sigh*
Good time on it though! 1 hr, 19 minutes, zero deaths. Cool group!

Edit: I, ah... still need a redside version and two more bluesides... gotta work late tonight... but anyone want to pug Fri/Sat?

He wanted your slot. Also, Blasters/Scrappers are about the same; but, remember, those two damage dealing ATs are what we have the most of, in general. Thus, those slots fill pretty fast. OR, he was doing a 'Master of' run, and one of the requirements of that is "no deaths" for that particular TF

Here's something that could add future posts in this thread. J-Man and I will be in IP tonight looking to PUG it up @ 8PM PST. Leave your hopes on deck.

I've run quite a number of STF PUG's in the last few days.. over all its been good.. got my main tank level shifted just this afternoon.. had the crew I was with chuckling cuz I was taunting the AVs to "give me shards" good stuff

Well we ran the JFS B-Team/PUG STF we had the following:
J-Man's TA Def, with no attack powers
My triform WS
Lieran's Kin/ice def with no defense or stealth
Cyc's Electric Blaster with no defense or stealth
1st. Son - Blaster
Customs - Tank
Paragon's Traps/AR def
TopDoc - Super Duper Heals

1hr 45 mins and 87 deaths. There was an argument between between J and myself as to who brought less to the TF, since the power he used most was "Rez Arrow". I trumped him though as I brought the crystals and nictus along with my shade. It was loads of fun and TopDoc and Customs really had to do most of the heavy lifting since we had regenning vines due to all the squishies dying and we also had to kill the yellow tower twice after wipe.

I'm proud of the fact that we've been picking up strays or haven't used optimal team makeup the last few days. So if you're looking to third tier some less than popular STF ATs yell out JFS and we might send you an invite.

Normally I prefer to run them with my own group of friends... so we can do all our crazy stunts and not scare anyone off!

But, I do enjoy doing some PUGs. It is a chance for me to interact with people I don't know or don't team with very often.

For the most part, the PUGs I put together tend to go really well. I suppose it's just that I lay out the expectations from the start and it turns out great or I hop on a team that is already well built.

FYI, if you have never gotten a chance to run an SF/TF with me and my friends, you should know you are missing out on a lot of fun. We are the crazy group that likes to run +4 stuff.

My Kin/Ice is like supa-awesome, thankyouverymuch.

It was Taxee's fault.

I think the one good thing to come from this mess of PUG STF's has been the utter destruction of the concept of a low number of builds that can successfully finish this TF

I don't think I have been on a 'standard' STF on any of the four hero toons I ran. The LRSF was even more widely varied, and quite a bit of fun for my corr.
