Rework IO Sets that don't make sense

There are several lvl 50 IO sets that have debt protection included as a set power. What exactly would be the need for a lvl 50 character have for that? Perhaps change the set power for this ability when the character reaches lvl 50 to something else so that it is not useless. Also New Purple recipes for enhancement sets that arent available, Endurance Mod, Endurance Reduction, travel powers, recharge, range, defense buff, resist damage, slow, knockback, to hit buff, to hit debuff, defense debuff, fear and taunt all could have their own purple set. Increased variety makes for more diversity.

Technically, 50s get about as much use as anyone else from debt protection, which is to say, not much. Instead of a irrelevantly tiny reduction in the amount of xp you lose from debt, there's an irrelevantly tiny reduction in the amount of inf you lose from debt.

The solution is clear: return debt to its former glory.

If by 'glory' you mind numbingly, soul suckingly fail-full, boring, dull, aggrevating and fun only for sado-masichistic then-

Oh, wait.

I'm actually all for this suggestion.

Look again. Those sets exist at levels lower than 50. Most of those sets are level 30-50 sets. Also, you can slot level 50 IOs at level 47.

The debt protection bonuses are pretty useless, I'll grant that, but it's not like the only people that can slot them are level 50 characters.

I would be in full agreement if there were a debt protection bonus in a purple set though.

Mmm...

I tend to agree, debt protection as a multiple IO benefit is a waste of a slot.

Not sure returning debt to its original glory to be a good thing, especially when the game's lethality towards support ATs has increased so much. I guess to some, this will add to the challenge...

I think as a whole, the game really needs to re-look at the inter-AT balance, and then at IO sets themselves to faithfully serve the need of each AT. As a poster commented, there is too much defense in the game, and to an extent that is right. But on the other hand from a support AT perspective there is too much mez out there too, and with the game's sense of challenge is essentially making the support AT's mitigation of mez powers increasingly less reliable; the increase of on the spot ambushes; and the increase of ranged and area mez by mobs, has pretty much forced many a player to seek higher defense levels to mitigate the continued erosion of the performance ability of their conditional protections.

So while a dev may want to decrease defense in the game, a sense of balance and fairness to all ATs is being lost in the process, if no compensation is made.

I am getting to the point to believe, the game needs a major rebalance, kinda like the comic books did some time ago.

A real good examination on how the group inter-dynamics should really work, where all classes are just as dependent on each other, and not some more than others, would be highly desirable; but I fear it may result with melee getting nurfed substantially and not what I would want, by far.

I feel Tankers of all ATs are the most proficient class for playability, they have sufficient damage to get the job done, and protections to go with it. They can buff, rez, heal themselves as well. In short a very well balanced AT in my opinion. Proof of the pudding is, they can go on and solo +4/x8/Y/Y, the hallmark of exceptionally good design.

Now the challenge is, and always has been, how you get the other classes to approximate the +4/x8/Y/Y performance standard of the Tanker? And I mean with the depth and consistency that Tankers have, I know each class has possibly an exception that could meet the +4/x8/Y/Y standard, but usually is a very specific design for a very specific foe, as opposed of a tanker just about being to handle just about any foe out there (this means there are few choice foes that are the bain of tankers, but these are few and rare).

Oh Stormy,

If that was the case, why is not every toon a tank if they are as great as you make them sound? Why isn't this game City of Tanks?

+4/+8 is not the measure of how good an AT is. A tank has to survive that if they are running a full team and increased level. As a consequence, they can run at those same difficulties when solo. This proves nothing. I would love to hear your data on all the teams broadcasting for more tanks or say that if we only had a few more tanks, we could have finished. My MM's can solo at max settings too. But my ice tank can not. Neither can my stalker, scrappers, controller, blaster and VEATs. Obviously, using your standards, none compare to MM's.

Having done TFs and SFs (including STF and LRSF) without a tank or brute, I am skeptical on their importance as you make them. Go to the other parts of the forums and check out the MLRSF by a dominator. There use to be screenshots of a MITF by a solo scrapper. Are tanks doing the same? If so, I stand corrected.

All toons can solo, even those support toons. I wonder how my lowly emp def was able to go blue to full red solo doing tips and alignment missions. Oh yeah, I prepared and played standard difficulty. My support toons, and I have many since it is my favorite thing to play in the game by far, are not fully IO'd out except for generic IOs but survive just fine in this already easy game.

I say replace the Debt Protection with varios Mag 2 Mez Protection!

Do that, people will start wanting the set to stack the mez protection.

I think something new needs to be added to the mix of set bonus's like:
Endurance Drain Resistance
5% Resist all
