Looking for a Good AOE dmg tank build
I'm not sure which one is the real winner here. I have a shield/elec/mu tanker that took ball lightning just for a thematic AoE , but I still have more fun on my fire/fire/fire.
I guess I could up the ante and suggest that Blazing Aura and Burn would be less resisted than the smashing? damage of shield charge
not too familiar with AE, but took my fire/fire into that one map where you get ambushed. omg perma burn. mind, with hasten up, my fire/fire is at 170% rech with the spiritual tacked on.
Its also the character my wife stole while I was at work to level a few of her lowbies
Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper
Tribal Arc Shield/Elec/Mu/Spiritual Tanker
Just wondering if there are any good aoe dmg tank build, just like the title says. something that can take the damage of huge mobs, and still kill them. maybe a farmer build? not sure.... but id like to use it more for pve. does ice / fire still work with ice patch, blazing aura, and consume? or something else all together? if someone could post a build it'd be lovely!

I understand the sd/ devotees, but I am sorry: fire does more damage.
sd/ is a fine primary (I love all of mine) and AAO is truly awesome in a crowd, but fiery embrace, after the changes, isn't merely better, it is enormously better.
FE's damage increase is not affected by the tanker damage cap, and is increased by damage buffs on the tanker.
Plus, burn does MUCH more damage over time than shield charge, and of course, fire/ also has a damage aura which is increased by fiery embrace abd buildup.
Combust is a critcal power as well, because it has a large radius: It is the 'opener' attack, which can be used while the spawn is still dispersed.
Typically, I approach a spawn at speed and pick a boss. I charge into melee range and fire combust. I then use my tier one on the boss for bruising and fire flaming sword circle and burn. Then combust again, then greater fire sword, then fire sword circle, etc, etc.
The storm cloud of orange numbers is impressive indeed, as all those dots start stacking from all the aoe's.
sd does very very well, but nothing beats a fire storm.
Now granted, a fire tank pays dearly for that damage output, but I'm willing to live with that. Debt is just a measure of how much awesome you're generating.
I have both.. I think the Fire/Fire is better...
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
Pro-Tip: Don't go against Severe on this one. Fire/Fire is the AoE champ. I consider mine to be like a Tactical nuke compared to an ICBM of a Blaster. I am up more often than a Blaster's Nuke, theirs is more powerful burst.

I think I can put the SD vs FIRE debate to rest quickly.
I have a lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Pyre and a lvl 50 SD/SS/Pyre tank, both which have been purpled out with multi billion inf builds and both have been farmed with a ton. With the current state of buffs/nerfs each set have received, I can say without a doubt, Fire/fire/pyre wins out by a fairly large margin. Before the buffs to fire and the nerfs to SD, SD was definately ahead, I actually stopped playing my Fire/Fire because SD/SS was sooooooo much better, but after the nerfs, Fire/Fire is way ahead in the farming/damage department, so my SD/SS has been shelved.
Although, OP, if you want survivablity coupled with good damage go with SD/Fire or SS. If you want pure carnage go with Fire/Fire. My fire/fire can ticket cap AE missions of +3/+8 in 6 to 8 minutes, but has a hard time playing TF's because those AV's eat him alive.
I really like my shield tank, he's very survivable and does great AoE damage. That having been said Brun w/o fear = win. Shield charge is awesome, yes, and AAO > FE (unless you're fighting a single target, but that's not the point here, is it - hint AoE is not all that useful for a single target)
If you're fighting even con council, I honestly don't think you'll see much of a difference, but if you're actually going against something that can take a punch, the exotic damage of fire, plus three applications of burn per SC are going to beat out SC every time. After three burn patches there shouldn't be anything that isn't a boss left, even at +2/+3 x8. SC might get the minions and hurt the LTs, and even then, only in the smaller radius. Then you're left to you other AoEs to finish everything off while you wait for SC to recharge.
The Burn changes put fire back on top in terms of raw damage primary. Which is where it belongs, since it is the squishiest of the primaries (IOs not withstanding, everyone benefits from those)
