Returning Player w/ Questions
Specifically, I'd like to know about the incarnate abilities. Took me some time to figure out going to Oroboros to start the missions. I'm on villains side.
Just wondering, how much of a pain in the butt these are going to be to collect. Are they done solo, or in groups? Are there any that are more sought after than others? I'd be happy if the information is out there if anyone can just point me in that direction. THe search feature on these boards kinda lost me. Thanks, Tourettes/ aka Cortex/ aka Mr. Taxi/ aka WereVampire. |
After completing the arc through Ouroboros, continue to do level 50 content. You will earn "Incarnate Shards" which can be used to craft new abilities. Should you participate in any level 50 TFs, you will have a new reward option upon completion for a unique piece of Incarnate salvage.
If you do not run TFs regularly, you can still craft these TF components from the shards.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Well, at this point it's a no go. I get to Trap Door and cannot get past him. Nope. NOt a bit. Took me about a dozen deaths to get TO him, and I can't scratch him at all. Doesn't appear to lose a single HP. Sigh. Oh well.

Welcome back.
Trapdoor is tricky. He spawns a duplicate every 25 seconds that vastly increases his regen. If you are a ranged character blast the duplicate first and then switch fire back to Trapdoor. Use the temp power Envenomed Dagger to reduce his normal regen to zero. Everytime you see the Bifibrucated message blast the duplicate and then back to Traps.
If you are melee kill the first duplicate as you enter the room then lure Trapdoor down into the lava and wail away. Make sure to take a bunch of reds to max your damage. Ignore the next duplicate and use Envenomed Dagger to keep his regen low.
In both cases take 3 purple shields on the way in and keep two up during the fight if it lasts a while. Any temp pets you have are good too especially Shivans.

You have to kill the bifurcations in order to kill him. If you just target him and blast away, you will never kill him.
This encounter seems to be designed specifically to be difficult for melee characters, since they have to run all over the room to get to the clones. A blaster or even a defender can switch targets and move very little to target the bifurcations, so it tends to be easier for them.
I strongly suspect this was completely intentional, in response to some people complaining about how overpowered some melee character's builds are.
It helps if you can knock him into the lava and keep him there too. The lava is below and surrounding the platform he spawns on. If you can keep him in it he will lose HP rapidly and the encounter gets a lot easier.
It is doable solo, but it will be more difficult for some builds than others.

First, lower your difficulty level. Find a Fortunata and set your self to one player and -1 level, no Bosses, no AV/HEROES.
Second, are your enhancements all level 50, or are they in the red?
What's your AT and powersets?

I agree with Zombie Man that this should not be happening. Pop on the forums for your server, make some friends and ask for help. You're probably doing a couple of specific things wrong.
Try to get some solid advice before burning through all your respecs though, it can be easy to go off half cocked. See if someone will plan a build out for you. Some advice on tactics and slotting might help too.
Look for Zombie Man's guide to Incarnates or look in the cohtitan wiki.

Incarnate System on Paragon Wiki
Keep NCSoft from shutting down City of Heroes : http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
If it's been a long time since you've been in the game, your build may be obsolete. For one thing, this is a longshot, but you were around for ED, right? If you have any powers that still have 4 or more of the same SO in them, you need to look around for a guide to ED and fix that.
Second, a lot of the Incarnate content is tailored for, if not characters that are purpled out, at the very least characters that have taken some advantage of the Invention System. If you left before the Invention system came about, check around and see where you can improve your build with some IO Sets and level 50 regular IOs. You don't need to go all out, just "beef up" a few of your key powers, and it will mean a lot. (You'll hear folks talking about "softcapping" Defense, and complex builds to do that, but I don't think you'll need to go that far)
Third, see if there have been any tweaks or nerfs to core powers in your AT's Power Sets. Or even the AT itself, Brutes, Stalkers and Dominators have all had changes to their Inherents. In most cases, the changes weren't totally negative, but may require a change to your playstyle.
Your best bet is to make a post in your AT's forum showing your build. You'll want to check out a program called "Mid's" for that, again check around and you should be able to find out where to find it and how to use it. If you don't have any Inventions in your build, you'll probably get a lot of advice really fast about what you can do to improve it. Some of the advice may be past your price range, but I'm sure if you are clear that you're a returning player without a lot of time to raise money for Inventions someone will tell you what the most important things are to start with.

Thanks all. Must have been a Bifurcating issue. Didn't know about those. I've been gone about a year. I'm purpled out. The toon I am trying it with is a Fire/Kin-Corruptor. I don't have a problem w/ him trying to get away, but I'll check on my settings. I think last I was in I was farming, and thus my diff may be high, and my spawn is set waaaay above one I'm certain. Heheh. Global is @Tourettes. The toon I'm trying it out on is on Virtue due to the higher number of players there. Figured it'd be easier than on Justice.
Thanks again for the helps.

i won't be logging into the game for at least a couple more hours, so i hope you found someone to help you. (i have level 45+ alts available on both sides on most servers, but it hardly does any good if i can't log in.)
Good luck.

I did it on my fire/kin controller and it was pretty hard. That was only the second guy I soloed it on and decided to just get a team after that.

Well, got the arc done, and read the guide on Crafting these things, but I'll have to play around with them. Still confusing.
