How do you get large spawn size, but no bosses in normal missions.

In the old notoriety system, a 6 man team, +2 difficulty, would not have bosses in the random mob spawns.

With the new system, I set myself to 6 people, +2 difficulty, but I still get occasional bosses. This is especially true if I actually group with anyone - even if it is only a single person.

For some of my characters, this is no big deal. But for other squishier characters, this is a very big deal.

Is this just the nature of the beast now? Is there no way to have large spawn sizes without bosses?

Thanks!

Pick the "I do not want to fight bosses" option in the Fateweaver/Hero Corps rep.

Also, each map/faction has its own spawn rules, the "6 man team, no boss" rule only applied to farms, pretty much.

Also, the "I do not want bosses" only applies when solo. If you have a second person, you will always have the possibility of having bosses.

If you check the "Don't want to fight bosses when solo" setting you can play +4/x8 without any boss ranking enemies when solo. Even when solo you will get "bosses" who will be downgraded to lieutenants, but as soon as another player joins the team and the missions are set to over /x6 they will be upgraded back to bosses with occasional bosses even on lower difficulty settings.

Yeah that's the problem I am seeing: upgrade to boss as soon as there are 2 people. This is a bummer, because you used to be able to do +2/x6 back in the day, although you had to do it using "fillers" which was super annoying.

Minor correction a second player will generate bosses at any level. The 6 team member thing only applies to upgrading elite bosses to arch villains.

There have been relatively recent changes in the spawn rules that make the distribution of bosses more random. The game no longer follows the old "rule" that you didn't get bosses at all unless there were seven people on the team. Seven (almost?) always get one boss per spawn, and eight (almost?) always gets two, but you now sometimes get a boss in a spawn set anywhere from four to six players, with it seeming to be more likely the larger the team or setting.

(Note that I'm talking about entities that would be bosses if you have bosses enabled, or if you have a team and aren't solo.)

I liken this a bit to the now fairly old change where they caused more LTs to appear where we used to get uniform minions.

It seems that when I set my difficulty for 7 players I get less Bosses then I do at both 6 and 8 if that helps you at all.

Enjoy your day please.
