Spear and 2h weapon powerset!

We have all sorts of one handed weapons. But I'm thinking a powerset that is slow, but very powerful. 2 handed swords, axes, mauls, a tree, etc. Slow recharge, high endurance cost, but high damage and high accuracy. Most powers consisting of cone like damage sweeps, huge single target attacks, and a small aoe circle kind of thing.

I think the 2 handed weapons should be more of a tank/brute thing as well.

Now spears on the other hand are scrappers/stalkers I think. A bit faster, longer range than the average melee attack. Similar power ideas as the other 2H weapons, cones sweeps and the like.

Another note on spears, I think instead of the power that's basically Focus Chi where it buffs you up for a short few seconds... We could have a slightly longer buff where instead of critical hits dealing 200% damage they could deal 300% damage. Slight bonus to increase critical chance. Because surely a spear through the skull would deal a bit more than twice the amount of damage. Just saying.

I'd just really like spears mostly, the swords and axes and such were an after though. And I suppose they could be rolled into one powerpool with spears, but I think logically they're too different for that and you could do so much more as separate things. But I believe spears would be an excellent addition to the game.

These sort of things have already been suggested many, many times and there's a few problems with your suggestions.

1. We already have slow but powerful melee weapons, battle axe and broadsword.

2. Both those sets already do practically, if not everything you describe, they have large single-target attacks, cones and a pbaoe, what you are essentially asking for is the devs to make a whole new set that is exactly the same as existing ones except you hold the weapon with two hands. Maybe ask for alternative animations where two hands are used, but not a whole set.

3. Build Up is the normal name for the short 'super buff' power you are talking about, not Focus Chi (which is the martial arts version I believe), and 300%? That is a very large increase in dmg. An awfully large increase in dmg, even for a build up like power.

4. People on the forums generally like it if you put more thought into power set suggestions, so like an actual layout of what the set would look like with possible names for powers, what they do, what order they come in, etc etc. not just 'I think we should have this because it would be cool', but seeing as how it looks like your new to the forums, I'm sure they will let you off, it is nice to see you can actually type English at least.

I can't be bothered to think of something amazingly wise or witty to show how much of a genius I am, just take my word for it.

I'm going to have to call shenanigans here based on the law of diminishing returns.

...We did spend a lot of time on the whip between R&D, animating, re-animating, getting the rig sorted out, etc. We ended up spending more time than expected on the actual animations...but that was also because we had the time to spend on it. Demon Summoning as a whole was a very expensive powerset to make, easily taking as much time as 3-4 regular powersets.

FYI, staffs/polearms would be about the most time consuming thing that we could make at this point. There are no weapon modes/stances that would be appropriate for it, so it would require a whole battalion of core animations, movement, hit reactions, variations of ninja run, flight, etc etc. More, it would require unique sets of IK driven animations for female and huge models. There's no way we could utilize skeletal re-targeting for them.

I'm hard pressed to think of anything that would take more time to do...unless we did staffs as part of a new Mastermind primary along octopus henchmen who ride around on winged horses.
So far Nelson (I believe responsible for Ninja Run), David (Nobel Savage), nor any of the other art / animation guys have said anything to indicate their opinion on this matter differs from that of C.Bruce.

That makes a lot of sense. Additionally I could also see problems with moving the hands relative to the weapon. With all existing weapons the hand that the weapon is "attached" to holds it in pretty much the same position regardless of what animation is being used but for staffs and polearms the hand really needs to move along the weapon for the animation to look right (i.e. stabbing someone with a spear would need different hand positions from slashing at them).

Now if you went the alt. animation route, what about Shield Defense? Have you seen what a Kin Melee/SD looks like? Left hand: Standard SD pose. Right Hand: Wavy KM movements. It looks ok, but not the best. I couldn't really see it done with that set.

As to a brand-spanking new set? I would love to see a mix of Staff/Punch/Kick type powers done. But I think BABs post from Post-GR launch already quoted gives enough reason to not expect it in the near future.

Thank you for the time...

Your definition of 'ok' is lacking.

Personally, if we were ever to get two-handed weapons, I'd like those to be either a large, long halberd, or more realistically a large two-handed hammer.

I mean, we already have Stone Mallet and Heavy Mallet. The game is just begging for a full set of the things!
