Ight YOU SCRAPPER LOVERS!

My main, Zap Efron, is purped out and I love him. He's an elec/elec scrappy with alot of time on his hands.

So... if I wanted to solo an AV...

Yea Yea! I know, Elec/Elec? REALLY? Solo an AV??

Sounds pretty impossible I know, but I'd like to know if it CAN be done.

CAN IT BE DONE?!

Everything about your post made my head hurt, but I'll bite.

I don't think Elec/Elec can solo an AV (assuming no inspirations/temp powers) mostly because of Electric Armor. If you're going to be soloing an AV, it means taking as little damage from the AV as possible, which usually means having 45% defense to one or multiple positions. Since Electric Armor is a resistance based set, this means that unless the AV misses, you're going to get hit every time it attacks. Unless you're fighting an AV that causes only energy damage, you're going to get hit hard, and even with Aid Self in addition to Energize you'll be hurting. I've soloed more than a few AVs with my purpose-built DM/SD (softcapped, enough +rech for the highest DPS attack chain) and even with Siphon Life firing every few seconds I still got killed a few times by lucky hits.

I haven't even gotten to Electric Melee yet, but I don't think it's capable of the single-target DPS needed to kill an AV. It's generally considered an AoE set. I'm not saying it's impossible; I haven't crunched the numbers, but it's doubtful. Even if you did have the best single-target attack chain Elec Melee was capable of, without sufficient damage mitigation you're toast.

So heres the down lo. Elec/elec,one tough AT to work with but do able, like all toons there is no bad AT just badley built. In which case you need to go for funtionality instead of power. Ur io selection is important here. Purps arnt really going to b ur friend here. I say since ur resistance is high for energy, I would focus on smashing and lethal defense

I think it could be done, but it would be more limited than others on the AVs it could take.

And like mentioned, purpled out doesn't really mean anything.

Takes layering defenses and getting in the DPS.

Really you named your Scrapper Zap Efron....lol

I don't think you could solo an AV for a few reasons. You will need soft capped defenses which is entirely possible but the issue would be to have enough recharge in order to have a good attack chain to achieve the dps to overcome an AV's regeneration, resistances, etc...

I'm quite sure you could actually do it with any APP/PPP that gives you a good ST blast. JLadder > CBrawl > Blast > CBrawl does decent ST DPS and you can put a purple proc in each of the three attacks.

Soft cap your defenses to smashing lethal (use a lot of kinetic combat sets.. might even need to stick them in brawl). Get enough global recharge to run an attack chain of Charged Brawl>Havoc Punch>Charged Brawl>Jacob's ladder. Fully slot energize for health and recharge... Stick purple procs in Charged Brawl and Jacob's Ladder. Find an AV that does smashing/lethal damage. Make sure they're level 50.

A big question you may need to ask is whether to run lightning shield or not. You'll get more damage, you'll use more endurance... if you gather minions up to use for fodder for your powersink to get the endurance, then you'd kill them with your lightning shield, so that may not work out so good.

But my vote is a solid yes. It's possible. I base this on my spines/elec av killing experience. Spines has less endurance issues then electric. You've definatly chosen one of the worst scrapper options for AV killing. So you will be limited as to how many you can kill.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

Out of interest, what is the best Elec attack chain(arcanatime considered), how difficult would it be to achieve it, and finally how does it stack up against the other powersets?

I'm thinking CI-CB-JL-CB? Seems to need a lot of recharge but that core 45% recharge boost coming soon will surely help a lot. I'm also thinking a purple proc in CB will have a lot of chances to proc with that chain.

I'm asking because I have this Elec/Elec/Mu Brute build I've been working on.

I'll echo the yes it can be done.
Softcap S/L with a good amount of recharge should be possible and you have the aura to help with damage.

Working on a Claws/ElA build myself...
