Supporting Casts and Rogues Galleries
B. Enlist friends to play characters I've created, whose backstories are pretty much already set
I feel like B is highly unlikely. |
The potential for drama is pretty high, of course. There's no way you'll be able to get your Rogues "back" if you don't like the way the other person plays them.

StormDevil,
I've been asked to play a nemesis or three in my time. I took one 'nemesis' to 50 and loved it, and I still have and play the other two.
Sign me up as your enlisted buddy and tell me how you want me to gallery it up, as it were.

The "protagonist", I guess, is named Moxie Danger, a young, sassy superhero private eye. She looks like this. In game terms she's a blueside SS/SR Brute. I'll probably start up a small SG, detective agency style.
Villains:
Crime Queen--currently have her as a Mind/Nrg Dom, but that's totally open to revision; her backstory's the more important part.
Doctor Deathtrap--again, sets not super important (though I imagine that something /Traps would be a given)
Satin Fox--a DB/WP Brute, but again, open to revision (also might change this name)
Nickelplate--a SS/Inv Brute, but again, yadda yadda. About the only thing that's important here is that he's all metallic-like. (A metal-covered dude wielding twin nickelplated guns would be cool, too. Thugs/ or DP, either/or)
Boss Steam--steampowered crime boss
Fath--oh, wait, I don't have that name quite yet. Need to snag it when I get home. Nothing to see here...
Supporting Cast:
Guy Friday--Traps/DP, tech guy, and the Giles/Q to Moxie's Buffy/Bond
So I guess now this thread can be either for interested parties, or for the original intent. Oh yeah...and if anyone's got a character whose particular idiom they think fits this general, pulp-flavored thingamajig, feel free to drop me a line.
Nice one, thanks Nal. I'll PM you the whys and wherefores. Y'know, I might as well list the characters, in case someone wants to try out the sets. If anyone's interest gets piqued, I can PM the backstory/canon and such.

Oh, I have all those names. I also added a couple I had forgotten about.

Oof, that's 1:10 in the AM my time; I'll likely be asleep by then. For that guy, I don't really have a look, or sets, in mind; of that list, he probably has the least "synergy" with the protagonist(s). I'll hang on to the name until I know we're both going to be around.

Here's my costume concept for Boss Steam, complete with Steam Jets aura. Not sure what to make him yet, but I'm thinking something /Storm or maybe something else. We'll see.
EDIT: It's a little grainy for some reason.

AE is actually usually the best way to go, as not only you can write arcs, but you can build the custom character and ship them off to SGmates/friends who can use them to write their own arcs so you might not actually know Nemesis A kidnapped Friend B's cousin, only that Friend B thinks something is wrong and wants your help to solve it (through an AE mission).
I've never been a fan of playing characters that are linked, because then they'll never be together in the same room unless I happen to run a specific AE. I'd say the best route is to have some friends play the close characters. Overall a much funner route, in my opinion.

Rather than trying to come up with the whole character why not get people involved in the creation process (as no one really likes playing someone else's pre-dictated rules) or better yet see if friends and the like already happen to have existing characters that match that particular idea of yours?
Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
Eh, of course the other side of the coin, as has been pointed out is that people can be *******.

Here's a thought, similar to the one above- allow your interactions with other toons in-game create your storyline. Instead of a predetermined list of rogues and sidekicks, why not just have your friends pre-existing characters in-game as rivals/allies?
Ice/Ice Blaster. Dedication to concept is an ugly thing.
Claws/WP Brute. Sex without the angst.
Every CoX character lies somewhere on this spectrum.
Oh man, I've had a hankering for playing a Spirit-themed character, but I'd be just as happy to create a villain for one! I'd be happy to play either Guy Friday or Satin Fox, or both. Send me a tell and we can see what we get up to!
@ Rainspirit
Hi Virtue.
So, I've got this character whose backstory/canon includes a somewhat robust supporting cast and Rogues Gallery. I was hoping to hear ideas from other players as to how to handle these things. The only two options I can imagine would be:
A. Play all of these characters myself, and have them only interact "on paper" (or in the AE), or
B. Enlist friends to play characters I've created, whose backstories are pretty much already set
I feel like B is highly unlikely. I'd be content with A, but if anyone has come up with a third option which works well, I'm all ears.
Thanks!
