So I will explain what I liked in other games and my playstyle, sadly I do not usually play super hero games unless they are console, like spiderman, hulk and etc I am however a superhero fan but never been a hc comic fanatic. Anyways I mostly played fantasy mmos so here goes, I usually enjoy archer types melee was ok as long as it was secondary only.

I usually enjoy a jack of all trade types, in this case melee is usually fun.

And I enjoy versatile ranged character types, I enjoy fast paced types when it comes to ranged.

In wow I enjoyed the hunter even though it has a lazy mode I just love archer types and loved being able to use a vairety of pets and build them in differant ways.

Casters I usually play some kind of casting pet class, my fav elements are usually ice, lightning, and earth, fire last not really my thing, I enjoyed the mage class but I enjoyed the eq1 mage far more.

I enjoyed the druids in wow, except I found the animal forms lacking in variety of attacks so that part got boring.

Eq1 beastlords very fun able to fight with your pets crazy fun.

Then my fav class of all time was the eq1 bard jack of all trades master of none.

Now I know this probably wont help, but I just do not want to keep wasting time on ats so hopefully someone has some advice that will help me pick.

I do have a dark/dark defender at 28 but the more I play it the more I want some umph with my attacks everything else is great about it I do enjoy the dark part of healing rezzing and debuffs. Also realizing I am not a fan of damage over time not my thing.

I do have an ill/rad on another server and was thinking of rerolling him on here, now I can change the colors of the powers, the main reason I did not take him beyond 32 was concept reasons, just could not come up with one because of the colors hehe. If I remember they are a jack of all trades type of character but I am not sure if it was fast paced enough for me, not enough clickies.

Keep in mind I enjoy moderate damage, I really do not like doing very small damage, and I have major altitis in this game lol.

Well you have a few options. I have had the same issue. After coming back from a long break I was shocked how I changed as a player. I use to love Doms, now I cant seem to level one.

ILL/Rad would be a great reroll because it's powerfull and effective for a controller and will feel "Castery" and has a good damage potential, especially with Phantom Army running and Rads debuffing effects.

If you go the Corr Route look at Fire/Dark. I know you said Fire was not your thing, but it is preally powerfull combined with dark miasma and gives you solid utility, some croud control, more than enough damage, and healing and rezzing. Alternatively I would say that this would also work well with Radiation blast. The secondary effects of fire are DOT damage, but the secondary for Rad is debuffing defense, and when you combine that with Miasmas debuffung of accuracy it can help things out on the playing field.

MMs are good. Dark Miasma is pretty solid with pets but the other secondarys are very solid as well. I love poison, but then again I solo quite a bit so poison works. But your personal damage will come mainly from your pets and not from your toon directly...which is standard for most pet classes in most games. A bit of a learning curve in the beginning but fun to play once you get it.

I would still suggest the Dom AT though. A good mix of Blaster and controller. Mind and Earth are really fun to to play as primarys and do ok damage. Again, it's castery, and the secondary Melee/Blast assault sets are solid. I would sort of avoid Gravity and the Electric control set for a dom, because in my testing they are not as effective as domination does not benefit them as much as the other primarys available. Those end up less than spectacular feeling. (Again thats a personal taste as I feel they are better controller sets)

As far as defenders go. Try an Archery/Trick Arrow. Loads of fun once you get Trick arrow down and you litteraly control the field in lou of a controller if there is not one around. I avoid the blinding arrow in the set, but the debuff in enemy perception, when used right is pretty cool and can save your team. It also solos well, even if it is a little micromanagy at times.

My first 50 on an account I lost (Yes...I lost it) was Illusion/Trick Arrow controller. Trick arrow made up for illusions lack of control and holds and if you open with ice arrow and hold an enemy and follow with blind the magnitude or strength of your hold is improved. This allows Spectral wounds to do double damage and I like to take at least Flurry or some melee skill to pile on damage because it's doubled as well. Acid arrow also does respectable damage when an enemy is held. Entangle arrow which you have to take is even usefull for building holding power and it's pretty accurate. I liked this build and had fun with it. It is in my oppinion the jack of all trades...or felt like it to me. I always had something to use at any situation. Like a bat utility belt. Choose magic origin to help ignite an oil slick arrow and boom...damage!!! And with the two holds you do have in blind and ice arrow you can keep some of the beasties you fight trapped on that burning oil slick for max damage

Hope that inspires something...or if anything gives you some idea

I very well might try archery/trick arrow defender and once I get going rogue I will try the mm they always sounded interesting espically robots hehe.

Anyways I already in the process of ill/rad and highly enjoying it again now I actually have an awesome concept going. I probably will need to find an alt on heros side though.

Dominators have a "castery" feel to their primary being control.

But their secondary being assault sets with both range and melee attacks allows for fairly versatile builds with them. do hold in mind that their melee damage modifier is slightly higher than their ranged damage modifier, but in general, pretty nifty damage output.

and with IOs they can be made pretty tough too.

Also Masterminds give you the pet options and some personal attacks if you want, as well as buff/debuff secondary and can be made pretty versatile and survivable again with a good damage output.

If you really like shapeshifting, the hero-side epic AT, Peacebringer and Warshade might work for you. You need to get a hero-side character to level 20 before being able to create one, though.

Warshade.

Fuzzies for pets, lots of clicks, decent damage, there's -always- something recharged (I've been -recharge capped and just cycled through forms hitting what was up), you can play pseudo-dominator, pseudo-blaster, pseudo-tanker, and you've already met the requirements since in your OP you said you have an ill/rad at 32 and DDD at 28.

Khelds in general really fit the mold for "jack of all trades, master of none", and Warshades are (IMO) the more fun variety.

On the other hand an Ice/Ice Corruptor would be almost ridiculously powerful. And Ice/Dark Miasma would be just about over-powered.

I agree with almost everything said here, although I personally don't care for Defenders. They just aren't my thing I guess. Masterminds are different and have to be played to be understood. They are very strong PvE however, and solo easily. Robots are my favorite.

If you liked Dark Miasma on a Defender, and like versatility and ice attacks, I'd also suggest Ice/Dark Corruptor. Tons of tools, excellent damage, excellent solo or teamed, and the personal satisfaction of knowing that every single thing I do is applying crippling debuffs, even my attacks.

I'd suggest Corruptor over Defender in this case because of Corruptor's Scourge effect, which is also very satisfying and great added damage, particularly for rain powers (like Ice Storm, or Rain of Fire).
