That has nothing to do with badge-hunter. That is their own personal application for their site. I need one for badge-hunter as well.

Very said to read this. I love herostats but also want my badges tracked. Really don't want to use two programs to do that.

As someone that uses both sites (both sites go down occasionally and it is rare for both to do so at the same time), I really don't want to have to use two programs to keep both sites up to date.
Edit:
I've never looked deeply into doing program memory scans or C#, so I'd be a bit out of my depth.

Believe it or not, Beef Cake, we've actually been deliberating over your request since the day you've sent it, and we're just now at the point where we could give you an appropriate response. It's not a simple yes-or-no answer, though, and a lot of other considerations have been taken into account.
I have word that TonyV just sent you a message somewhere in some form or another, so check all your inboxes. The good news is that we're definitely willing to work with you on this.
I did, and I apologize for not replying earlier. As Guy said, we've been deliberating
On the one hand, frankly, we're still ironing out the bugs in Titan Sentinel, so it's a bit early to add new features to it. On the other hand, we really do want to see Badge-Hunter not get left behind because HeroStats is dropping support for web site updates. We've been talking pretty hot and heavy on our administrative (non-public) forums over possibilities. I just sent you an e-mail to your badge-hunter.com address. Hit me up on Gtalk if you get a chance, I'm tonyv@cohtitan.com.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
Thanks guys, when I sent the inquires to you guys and never heard a response I didn't want to press the issue. So I never followed up on second email.
I do look forward to being a part of the program. I understand there are bugs, which are to be expected with a new program such as this. But I'm a patient person, so I'm very willing to wait for the bugs to be ironed out before being integrated. I just hope Skip can wait until then before removing the website integration from Hero Stats.
But I do look forward to working out the details to get this ball rolling when the time comes.

I wanted to chime in here and let everyone know Ive acquired a developer for the tracker program for Badge-Hunter. I do thank everyone for their PMs and emails in regards to this thread. If not for this thread Id still be looking.
My negotiations with the Titan Network havent panned out the way Id hoped. The programmer of the Titan Sentinel couldnt justify integrating Badge-Hunter into the program like I had planned out. Which wouldve been great considering the members of both websites wouldnt have had to use multiple programs to use both sites. I was presented with another option, which was to close down Badge-Hunter and merge Vidiotmaps into the Titan Network, but that wasnt an option I was looking to venture into at this time. But I do appreciate the offer!
However, the developer over at the Titan Network, who created the Titan Sentinel have said theyd gladly give my developer all the information needed to create and maintain a tracker for Badge-Hunter. So Id like to thank the guys over at the Titan Network for their interest in helping the community and myself with this issue. Ill keep everyone posted on the update of the tracker program as progress unfolds.
Thanks for your time and help,
Beef

I suppose if we couldn't have one program support both sites the next best thing was to have the Titan folks allow you to effectively "reverse-engineer" their Sentinel program for your use. It was cool of them to help you (and by extension us) like that. Why re-invent the wheel if you don't have to? If your version of Sentinel is more or less the equivalent of Titan's version then it won't really be a problem dealing with two different programs.
Good luck to you...

Honestly, I see no real reason to deny combining things. Well, I see one, but I'm being nice, so I won't post it, though I will say it has kept me away from anything TN outside of Mids' and ParagonWiki.

Hahahahahaha! I'm delighted you kicked that idea out of the door. BH has it's own flavour and one much more to my taste than Titan. BH and in particular the downloadable maps are absolutely outstanding and I look forward to them every update.
Like Kheldarn I only touch Mids/Wiki from Titan and I wonder about Mids given the recent flip-flop on i19-compatibility; I for one wouldn't want to change all my alt builds before loading into i19 mids.
I'm sad that I'm going to need two programs (HS for ingame info) and your tracker for badge-hunting (I no longer bother with Titan tracking and have deleted my character's info there). Hopefully you'll expand your badge tracking into a HeroStats-type program that means that won't be necessary either.
HS has some long-standing issues (EG picking up so many instances of Quicksand on my spines/fire scrapper that it scrolls off the bottom of my screen and makes it unusable on that char) and perhaps the author's desire to no longer support badge tracking in it, indicates they don't have the time to update it either. *shrug*
I look forward to seeing what you come up with, Beef. Thanks for your effort in keeping BH so up to date.

I personally use Mid's on a daily basis. It's almost as if it's part of my gameplay. So I have no doubt they'll find a correction for this issue, if they haven't already. Either way, I planned on making all new builds anyway. I just hope they have the Incarnate system built into it as well! I look forward to their new build of Mid's
Honestly, I doubt I will get into the stats as Hero Stats does, I don't want to step on anyone's toes. Which honestly is the reason why I never ventured into making our own tracking program a long time ago. |

At this point all we need is a simple tool to do badge verification for Badge-Hunter. If you can copy that basic function from what Titan Sentinel provides that's good enough. Worry about extra "bells and whistles" later on if you ever get the time for it.

While it might be nice to have one program that "does it all" I don't think it's something you need to be worried about producing anytime soon, if ever. Hero Stats is relatively complicated, already exists and does what it does (which is mostly non-badge stuff) fairly well. No need to do a lot of extra work just to copy all that non-badge functionality.

Hey all, I just wanted to clarify a few things.

Past that, there is a massive technical issue that will soon be coming along. One of the things we're working on is changing some fundamental aspects of how Sentinel and CIT interact with each other, such as what information is included, how the badges are reported, and the format of the actual messages between the client and the server.
If we were to build in support for Badge-Hunter, that means that we'd probably be expected to maintain support for the legacy communication methods and formats, something we really don't want to be tied down with. Plus, it would be unfair to Badge-Hunter, because if Beef Cake wanted to add any features to his site, it would depend on our willingness and ability to update the third-party communication within Sentinel. We do intend to provide API hooks into our data, so that if you want to, for example, have your supergroup information on your own site, you can query the site itself. That functionality would be part of the CIT back-end, though, not the workstation client.
Which brings me to...
Hahahahahaha! I'm delighted you kicked that idea out of the door. BH has it's own flavour and one much more to my taste than Titan.

With the Sentinel application able to capture information in a neat new way, one of the things we're finding is that the way CIT is currently handling badge information is insufficient. In short, it has a lot of quick-fixes and band-aids that have been applied over the years to keep up. With the release of Going Rogue in particular, a big chunk of the system that deals with the whole alignment issue needs to be rewritten.
There is currently an effort in the works to perform just such a rewrite, to bring the site up-to-speed so that the alignment system isn't just an afterthought, but part of its core functionality. The offer was more along the lines of this:
Keep Badge-Hunter running for now, but we'd like you to join us and help combine Badge-Hunter and CIT into a new site, one that has the features of both, plus a new back-end that can handle the additional features that are (and will be, going forward) provided by the Sentinel client. Beef Cake would also have administrative control over the new site's content. If he were a developer, he'd have administrative control over the code just like our other developers, but as it is, he would also be a sort of technical consult, since players like him are who the site is targeted towards. VidiotMaps would also be moved over to our server and kept up-to-date, with a possible rewrite of its front-end interface in the medium- to long-term future, and kept under his control.
I didn't really want to bother everyone with the nitty-gritty details, but when I read the above quote, I thought that it mischaracterized what we talked about. I wanted to make it clear that we didn't just say, "Shut down your site and give us VidiotMaps," because that would be a really crappy deal indeed, one that's grossly one-sided and unfair.
We have a lot going on over at the Titan Network, and not just around Sentinel and CIT. We don't feel like we can take on and indefinitely maintain another project as large as Badge-Hunter with the intention of maintaining it indefinitely.
There was no animosity in the conversation we had; in fact, I actually came away from it liking Beef Cake more than I did before. I don't blame him for wanting to keep the sites, he has put a lot of time, effort, and money into developing them, and I agree that they have their own flavor. I hope that the Badge-Hunter client project goes well and players have two good choices over what they want to use.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
Hey Tony,
Just wanted to apologize to you and the guys if you felt my quote was a little harsh, that wasn't my intention. I was just making the post as simple as possible without going into too much details on which you and I spoke about. This was an an option presented to me, and as you said in your most recent post...
I don't blame him for wanting to keep the sites, he has put a lot of time, effort, and money into developing them, and I agree that they have their own flavor. |
But, I do look forward to working with you guys here on out. I think there is a great deal we can learn from each other to better ourselves for the community.

Hello everyone,
As some of you may know Skip over at Hero Stats has made an announcement in regards to the future of Hero Stats and it's website integration. if not you may read his blog relating this this post.
I wanted to thank Skip for all of his hard work in working with the sites to help the community in communicating with the badge sites allowing us to track our badges. I know it must've been a pain to keep up with all of the updating to keep us sites going. So thanks again for all of your hard work.
Now with the removal of the website integration, I'm now looking for a developer who is willing to jump aboard and continue to help the community by building a tracker program similar to that of Hero Stats or the newly released Titan Tracker. So if anyone out there has the ability and time to help with this project, I would appreciate if you would take the time to message me either here on the CoH Forums or contact me via the badge-hunter forums.
I would've done this much earilier, but I actually enjoyed using Hero Stats allowing us to link each site as a community, so I never wanted to step on anyone's toes by creating our own tracker. But the time has come where I need to. So please contact me if anyone is willing to lend a hand.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Beef Cake
