Granite Armor Q's

Hi, I have a few questions regarding Granite Armor.. I'm currently in the works of building one as I'm looking for a solid tank when teaming (without having a healer). How would I manage the -movement speed? I cannot afford expensive IO's and I'm not keen on changing from human to granite every few minutes..

Well, given those two statements, then Teleport will be your friend.

Ahh I totally forgot about teleport
I haven't used teleport before so it'll take awhile to get used to. I'm guessing it's tricky to herd/gather mobs for the team though :/
Thanks.

Great guide to speeding up your Stoner. I used some, but not all, the suggested slotting reccs, and I'm happy with a tank that doesn't need to be switching all the time.

on my granite brute i slotted a bunch of gift of the ancients: +runspeed/def

each one of those is good for +7.5% movement speed, which if you have 5 is a good 37.5% movement speed, and another good thing about those enhances is that they are fairly cheap as well

another semi-cheap way to get some +speed is to just slot 2 performance shifters since the first set bonus is +5% movement speed

off the top of my head i am not sure about the amount of bonus needed to reach base level (would have to log in later and check my stone guy who has run speed of just above base speed in granite)

I settle for TP. I'd rather have massive taunt duration to reduce aggro losses and be able to get passed a ledge without having to turn rooted off. Running around a fence say is not going to be as quick as tp'ing over it.

I go by TP as well. IMO, it's best to bind the power selection to something easy to hit.

Example: /bind <key> to powexec_slot 8

I usually use the [shift] key, then left click when the bullseye is on the destination. (oh, and make sure the TP self power is in slot 8 . Also, sometimes I get a weird bug that I have to remap #1 key with the same /bind command back to slot 1; I dont understand why, but it works out in the end)

On my stone tank I use same thing as Kractis except I go with /bind <key> powexec_name Teleport, that way I can move teleport off the main tray and still get around.

Also, aegis 2 slot bonus adds movespeed as well, so I'd suggest making use of that when able. Taking swift is also a given, although won't have to worry about that once i19 comes around.

/bind lshift+lbutton powexec_name Teleport.

Point the mouse. Left shift plus left mouse click and you tp to where you're pointing...

damn, now that is phat! wish I had that. heh but I play with 8546 and 9,7 for cycleing targets. I could always change the bind lshift, to bind 1+lbutton, right?

Definitely a useful guide. My stone tank is 31 and I've started slotting IO sets. It looks like he'll end up pretty high performance although it's not cheap. I'm going to have 4 or 5 powers slotted with four IO's as follows:
Luck of the Gambler def/+7.5 recharge and LotG def/end
Gift of the Ancients def/+7.5 run speed and GotA def.

In four slots I'll hit ED on the defense and have +7.5% recharge, +7.5% run speed, +10% regen, +2% recovery. Not bad at all.

How many buttons does your mouse have? Mine has two extra buttons on the left side and these are 'standard'. Regular mouse drivers, Windows and CoH recognize them just fine. All my characters with Teleport have it bound to Button4. I click the extra mouse button to target, then the left button to teleport. I don't need to touch the keyboard at all.

I'm not a big IO person but my Stone/SS runs at just below normal run speed and all of his +Run or +Movement IOs were not expensive in the slightest. In my build, I currently use:

Regenerative Tissue - 2x = +4%
Ghost Widow's Embrace - 2x = +5%
Aegis - 2x = +5%
Force Feedback - 2x = +5%
Winter's Gift - 3x = +6%
Gift of the Ancients - 1x +7.5%

In various amounts. Of them all, the Gift of the Ancients set was the most expensive and even then, only about 2 million a piece. Winter's Gift would be expensive but I earned them during the Winter event that is just around the corner.

I still have Teleport in my build which I occasionally use in missions and for travelling between them but the cost of getting IOs that boost Run and Movement speed is not that much. Well worth looking into once you feel that you want to. The posted guide is certainly what helped me with mine.

In the meantime, teleport is your friend. Good luck with your Stoney.

I cycle targets with the 4 and 5 and center mouse buttons.

YMMV---IMO
