I am not really surprised with this announcement.

Quote:
The Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios announced they have reached an agreement under which Paramount will transfer its worldwide marketing and distribution rights to Disney for Marvel Studios' The Avengers and Iron Man 3. Paramount will remain the worldwide distributor of the upcoming films, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, as well as the previously released Iron Man and Iron Man 2.
Nice to see they announced the date for Iron Man 3
Quote:
Paramount will release Marvel Entertainment's Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger worldwide beginning on May 6 and July 22 of 2011, respectively. The Avengers will be licensed to Epix under Paramount's existing pay television arrangement.

Disney is planning a May 3, 2013 release date for Iron Man 3.

Good, keep it under one roof. Although It will be weird at first to see the magic castle logo before a superhero film. With Pixar they have shown that they can allow for an independent production to fly with their flag, so hopefully the new Marvel films wont get disney-fide, and will stick to their current ratings.

I'm sure they will.

Seeing how John Lassetter went from Pixar's Exec-VP to Disney's CCO when Disney acquired Pixar, I doubt anything in a Disney subsidiary studio will get "Disneyfied" anytime soon. "Pixarfied" maybe

I lot of people forget that Disney owns ABC. If Disney gives ABC enough leeway to show half the stuff that passes for "television" over there, I doubt they'll muck around with Marvel very much.

That being said, it's natural for the owners of Marvel to put Marvel Studios under their umbrella. And as I've mentioned, I don't think it will affect the artistic quality of Marvel Studios' work one bit.

Disney probably won't put their stamp on it, it'll likely just be Marvel Studios in the credits. They do this with lots of stuff they don't especially want associated with the Disney brand. Like Touchstone.

It already started. Whether you like it or not, No Ordinary Family would never have made it to ABC if Disney didn't acquire Marvel. At least that's my thought on that.

Might be slightly awkward if Iron Man 3 does a spotlight on Tony's rapidly developing alcoholism, a la "Demon in a Bottle"...
