Interesting episode.....I knew that Walter would move his "lab" from Harvard to MD.

possible spoilers.....

some questions I have.....

When Newton crashed after having shot and killed and then stuffed the shapshifter cop's body (after stealing the memory chip for Newton) in the trunk of the car, what happened to it? You would think that the entire car would have been "examined"......

(from the Fringepedia site) Does Newton have one of this memory chips? Also wouldn't raise questions as to how he would have gotten the "implement" to kill himself after altLivia was the last one to visit him?

Are Walter and Peter beginning to suspect the Olivia isn't "their" Olivia?

just some things to ponder lol

At the very least, I think Peter knows. He's very observant (as shown in the scene with Fauxlivia in the restaurant, sizing people up from a distance). I think he's running a long con, to see if he can get info from her.

Or if I'm wrong... at the very least... they'll find out from the security camera at the jail cell, showing her giving Newton that 'pill' to kill himself... or Peter finding the backup memory while he's at her place.

Walter may have a feeling that something is off... but I'm not sure if he's able to put it together... simply because his level of social awareness doesn't seem to be as high as Peters.

Yeah, the whole episode makes no sense, because all Walter has to do is take the memory chip from Newton, unless they go out of their way to explain why Walter wouldn't have access to the body.

..or perhaps the -pill- was some kind of Nano-virus that wiped the memory chip(s) while simultaneously killing him?

Hey, it's thin.. but with the advanced tech that Universe B has, I am willing to accept it.

My opinion: Peter knows. He's willing to go along with it and see where it leads. She's offering "physical companionship" that the real Olivia didn't. While Fauxlivia may think that this will keep him distracted, he should realise that this is an attempt at distraction and thus keep his eyes open. He's been portrayed as super-observant and a world-wise conman, so the game she is trying to play is the game that he knows how to play better than her. He was foolish, IMO, to have basicly blurted out "Yeah, I know you ain't the real thing" in so many words.
I think that he has some hope of rescuing the real Olivia eventually, and is playing the Boyfriend role to get closer to learning her secrets. She can't just turn her face away from the other members of the team and talk to her fellow infiltrators over the phone without someone noticing eventually. She has a different 'look' when she's not trying to play nice girl and no one can fake for long.

Walter? I doubt that he knows.

Edit: Also, I think that Peter's loyalty is split. He knows that this isn't his home, but he has love for the real Olivia and some issues with Walter. And some issues about being the key to a universe-destroying mega-weapon, like not being sure if it will kill him in the process of destroying our universe or just spit him back into his home safely. (Fire shooting from your eyes is a pretty harsh side-effect, so I'm guessing that it isn't good for the user.)

I think you can see that strip appeared to have a circuitry pattern on it so I also assume it simply did a wipe of all memory while causing him to bleed out.

the long con does sound like the likely direction peter is taking it. part of conning a con is actually playing the con itself in the open, especially on (relatively) home ground and with the knowledge they need you alive for the moment. fauxlivia can't exactly go back on a whim that we know, is otherwise tied to playing this for broyles and co unless she wants to be boxed and wired by a scientist who likes to conduct business while extremely high and much fonder of the original over the alternate. making her suspicious of peter may make her think she needs to move faster than otherwise planned, causing mistakes or not having pieces available in play. i think killing the sociobot was an example of pushing the plan, possibly giving peter a chance to peek through her underwear drawer for the reclaimed memory chip.

it does make me curious how they expect to get peter back to the alt universe though, unless the device was on this plane all along. converting olivia, then using her to open a portal seems like a longer shot than walternate would be willing to play and ensure his plan.

I know Broyles isn't as close to Olivia as Peter and Walter are, but he is a crack FBI agent. You'd think he'd notice something is a little off about Olivia too.

And isn't it convenient that Olivia's sister and niece just happened to disappear after seemingly living with her for a season and a half? Maybe the real Olivia kicked them out when she realized she'd be competing with her more fun loving sister for Peter's affections?
