Earthquake in Oklahoma
<laughs hysterically>
<cough>
Sorry...
<----California native.
I hope that everyone is safe and sound.
USGS report on the OK quake.
thanks for the support Red , so it was only a 4.3 then. Silly reporters trying to make it bigger than it was.
I will state though, OK has had several earthquakes this year make the news. Now it's no surprise (at least to me) that OK has earthquakes. Actually the area generally gets the most in the US, they are just so low nobody cares or notices. But this was the first time I felt and heard one so, yay! for new experience! Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come though as this state is not, at least in my humble opionion, earthquake ready.

"It threw me out of bed!"
"Knocked plates off the wall!"
"Half the water came out of the fish tank!"
Go for a swim?

Well we are still ahead of you on "Celebrity Slow Speed Police Pursuits." So there!
Back quite a few years ago my wife and I were living in southern Missouri. It was the night of our tenth wedding anniversary.
We had just went to bed and I was almost asleep when I felt a wave (for lack of a better word) go from the foot of the bed to the head of the bed. I asked the wife, "You feel that?"
"Uh yeah. That was weird. What in the world was that?"
"Dunno, but it was freaky."
The next day we found out that a 4.1 quake had hit about 45 miles from the house.
Not many people can say that the earth moved on their anniversary.

Ya? ya? Come out here and sit through a tornado and we'll see who's laughing then!!

Reminds me of a night back in my first couple of weeks playing CoX, was on a PuG and I think it was one of the outdoor Warfolf missions. All of a sudden it felt as though I were getting dizzy. Looks at my bed stand lamp to see it wobbling.
I typed into team chat "Huh, earthquake." To which one of my teammates responded.
"Me too."
I was o.O for a few seconds.
Me: "Where are you?"
Him: "Tiburon."
Which is about 30 mins drive south of me. Small world.

Start of Gulf War Operation Desert Storm 01/17/1991
Northridge earthquake 6.7 01/17/1994
Kobe earthquake 7.3 01/17/1995
The first thing that struck me durning the Northridge quake was that I was going to die on my birthday!
Other than that Jan. 17th seems ripe for disasters!

I felt the Northridge quake in San Diego, my friend's place was pretty much rubbled by it. :/ But still lol yeah you guys in the middle of the country with your airborne threats of tornadoes... I will take my rumbly roller coaster earthquakes any day.
Sooner were you at the first meet and greet? Where they'd finally gotten War Witch down here to california and she was all O.O EARTHQUAKES. It was hilarious.

No. I wasn't there.
But it does remind me of one of my fav conversations ever when my professor (from Oregon), myself, and another student, from.. ah... Delaware, maybe?... were talking. The conversation can be summed up as:
Oregon native: Earthquakes? No big deal, but Hurricanes? Scary.
East Coaster: Hurricanes? They're not that bad, but Tornadoes scare me.
Me: Tornadoes? Pffft... but Earthquakes? That's scary!
*Ready a second earthquake attack. Takes better aim*
Gonna get you this time, Sooner.
Being another CA native, I do kinda lol at 4.5 quakes.
And I can say for sure I would much rather deal with Earthquakes than with Tornadoes.

you only need to worry about a Tornadoe if you live in a trailer park.

There was a small trailer park Southeast of Springfield, Missouri that got hit by every tornado that came within 20 miles of the place.
You'd have thought that there was a tornado magnet buried there.

Trailer parks are like Mother Nature's bowling alleys.
I live in a trailer park.
But we don't have tornadoes.

Generally we have young Navy guys, actually, since our Marine base (at least Miramar) is more geared toward the guys who are going to be pilots and whatnot with a bit more under their belts. Now if we could get them to stop dropping planes on houses with people in them... O.o

Zekkers is right about the Miramar guys, though. Funny thing about those planes, Zek, according to Crash Fire Rescue guys I've talked to, they're likely being piloted by the dumbest college graduates you'll ever meet. They told me some horror stories that make me shiver to this day.
Pilot: "I don't need to spec my jet out. I'll just take her for a spin!"
Jet crashes on the runway, pilot ejects and lands on the roof of a building.
CFR Corporal: "What the Hell!? Didn't you check that your fuel tank was almost EMPTY!?"
Pilot: "Hey, she started up, I thought everything was good to go! Now get me down from this roof..."
CFR MSgt: "I should reprimand you for yelling at a captain like that, but... God... Try to bean him in the head with the ladder..."
CFR Corporal: "Won't that just make him DUMBER?"
CFR MSgt: "Yes. But it also might get him suspended indefinitely for medical reasons... We'll say the fall did it..."
Pilot: *gets distracted by a bird and barely misses the ladder fall*
CFR Corporal and MSgt: "DAMN IT!"
My Stories
Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.
*HAHAHAHA*
Yeah I know the state of affairs at Miramar can't be perfect. Friend of mine was a grease monkey on helicopters and planes for years, the awful things he saw makes me wonder how they get off the ground at ALL.

Just don't move to a trailer park in the midwest. I live in constant fear of being hit my a tornadoe as there is a trailer park not even 1/2 mile away from my home.
My wife has an interesting theory; it seems that the tornadoes like to follow the highway systems a lot and rarely will hit in the middle of nowhere. I explained to her, that we don't care about the ones that hit in the middle of nowhere because of the fact that it's in the middle of nowhere. She told me to shut up.
So this morning around 9 o'clock the wife (who was sleeping in to skip some work) and I were awoken to a weird sounding rumbling. She asks me with much worry in her voice, "What was that?" I listened intently and deducted, "It was the dog." (So it is clear, the dog in question is a 5 month old pug who had been locked in a crate for making a pee stain on the floor early that morning.) I went back to sleep. A few minutes later news reports text messages flooded our phones, she hits me saying; "your such an idiot, that was an earthquake." I replied, "yeah but you believed it and calmed down so what does that make you?" So she hit me again.
Anyways we had somewhere between a 4.5 to 5.1 earthquake this morning so fun fun fun. We now get blizzards (aka ice storms), tornadoes, parts of OK get hit by hurricanes (if strong enough), and now earthquakes going over the 5.0 limit? Fun times ahead!
