It wasn't mentioned because they have nothing to do with each other.

My problem with the episode is that they let Riley survive having a bullet ricocheting off his noggin in the season finale and the season opener. Only to have him die in episode two?!
WHAT THE HELL?

Didn't you know the noggin isn't a vital organ in most men.

This is true.
But what really irked me is that they went out of their way to show his head being hit, other people responding to it, and even had TJ in the season opener looking after him. Then they kill him the very next episode.

I mean, sure, showing us that "nobody's safe" is one thing, but the show has other unnamed soldiers they could kill. It just made no sense for this character to die in such a way or at that time.

As an aside, having just again seen the TV commercial for the Jackass 3D movie, they need to install a giant spring-loaded hand on the Gate as their version of an iris shield.

To be honest I found the way they accelerated TJ's pregnancy and then terminated it because it was too difficult to an issue for the writers to deal with to be far more offensive.

"Accelerated" pregnancy? Since there's rarely a date associated with each episode we don't know how much time actually passed or how far along she was when they first got to Destiny. So it didn't seem accelerated to me.

As for resolving it the way they did, well they did paint themselves into a corner. Unwanted pregnancy may be drama but baby on board is a nightmare. However baby tragically loss is drama but since the TJ character is one of the "major" characters on the show they can't simply have her be a basket case for a season so baby is spirited away to the Genesis planet so she has some reasonable closure.

There was that really long gap that was skipped over when Destiny was traveling through the void of the galaxy.

You think the pregnancy was accelerated, wait until the kid pops up again later in the season as the now teenaged Dr. Cee.

In the first season she just found out she was pregnant so she was maybe 2-3 months? Then they jumped galaxies and she turned into a full blown Pregnasaurus Rex. So yeah accelerated in the space of a single episode.

Did they say how long it actually took to cross the void?

Also remember that there were a couple of episodes shown out of order right around that time.

Longer than that because when the show started off in the next galaxy they had already been to several planets.

That would be the "episodes shown out of order" thing I mentioned.

We don't know. Less than nine months. Depends on how far along TJ was when she found out Young had knocked her up.

As of Justice when they come across the crashed space craft, it had been a month according to Rush. 3 episodes later and another month is added on as they go through the created system in Faith. in Sabotage, an estimated few weeks go by when they are just drifting in space after one of the hyperdrive engine blows up. Then they travel the gap at an even slower rate because of the missing engine.

The episode Pain was, while not in it's original spot, supposed to be in the new galaxy from the start. It just got pushed up one spot because the season finale was made 2 parts. That episode that it replaced is supposed to air sometime this season.

Overall, I don't think the writers had much control over TJ being pregnant.

Why? Was the actress pregnant in real life? If so they could have simply killed off her character early on in the show and used the stones to have Chloe return to earth and study to be a medic. Then she wouldn't be a useless meat sack whose only purpose is to give Lt. Loser a booty-call.

Yes, Alaina Huffman was actually pregnant. In the threads for season one, I remember mentioning that she gave birth to a daughter in December and the season wrapped in mid October.

Well she was transferring out before they got stuck. She wasn't involved with Young since getting to Destiny. She also may have known about it for some time but only when confided in others when they were talking about staying on the Genesis Planet.

Congrats on the daughter to Ms. Huffman.
