Def vs Res

Ok, I have gotten to just 2.8 points under the res cap for smashing and lethal on my invul scrapper. My question ishow much should I worry about def for smashing and lethal?

The more the better. Let me find the wiki link....

Defense Effectiveness

This should help you find the right amount for your own playstyle. I have a build that softcaps my Elec/Invuln scrappers S/L defense with a couple mobs in Invincibility. Don't know that I'll complete the build seeing as mobs flee him like rats from a sinking ship.

As much as you want/need to.

There's no magic number for that. If you're still standing at the end of the fight, that's what's important. Whether you have 2% Defense of 45% Defense, but you're still standing, you had enough.

Thanks for the replies.

Basically, it depends on how much influence you want to throw at it. I'm no expert on Inv in particular, but overall, the "holy grail", as it were, is softcapped (45%) with one enemy in range on Invicibility. For everyday use, particularly with your high resistance, this is probably overkill, so going for something like 30-35% with one foe is a nice target, and will give you good survivability without costing billions and still gives you plenty of flexibility in your build.

One thing to note - the defense you have the less debuffs will hit you - resistance doesn't prevent them from landing like defense does.

Those extra 2.8 points probably aren't going to make a world of difference. if something manages to kill you at 87.2% Resistance, it's probably still going to kill you at 90% Resistance.

The OP said Scrapper, so 75% is the resistance cap.

Even still.
