Praetoria or Atlas ?? Starting new toon
Rolled a DM/EA scrapper last night and went to Paragon directly.
I like Prae, but I don't think every toon needs to go through that zone.

If I'm making a "true" hero or villain, I start in their appropriate old zone. I've been using Praetoria as a shortcut to side-switch without waiting until 20 to start doing Tips if I make a villain knowing he'll play blueside or vice versa.
I've run my two "keeper" characters through Praetoria (one loyalist, one resistance), since they are a MM and a Brute that I wanted hero side.
I've also built - and deleted - 3 other "throw away" characters just to run through some of the other story options in Praetoria (undercover and the violent sub-factions).
From now on though, unless I'm trying to start a "wrong-sided" AT, new characters will start in the appropriate Primal Earth locations.
Praetoria's great and I love the story lines and new mobs, but trying to coordinate all the "catch-up" stuff that I missed in the 1-20 range once I get over to Primal Earth has been a pain, and I just can't see doing that for all my new alts unless it's really necesary concept-wise.
(By which I mean missing the first 3 safeguard/mayhem missions, not having any contacts in the first couple of zones, missing a few of my "always do" missions [can always catch those up via oro later], etc)
6000+ levels gained and 8 level 50's
Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.
I only liked a couple story arcs in Praetoria and found the experience more frustrating than entertaining. Some of that may have been lag from all the server load when it first came out but I'm just not that enthused about going through it again regardless.
I have 2 Praetorians at present. A Responsibility loyalist who has completed her trip to Paragon City, and a Power loyalist who's halfway there. I also have 2 characters lined up for the 2 resistance paths.
After that, Praetorian concepts will start in Praetoria, as will out and out villain concepts using hero ATs and vice versa. Other than that I'll alternate between red, blue and gold sides. If you make a lot of alts, as I do, it's nice to have a wider choice.
anyone still doing their new toons the old fashioned way or has everyone just run to the new zone ??
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
