Question about Mace Mastery Powers

So now that Patron Power Pools are available to heroes lots of Heroes are oggling them for their builds, especially the nifty Scorpion Shield.

But not having had a high level villain I have no idea what these powers actually look like. Specifically I'm wondering whether the Mace Mastery powers actually whip out the mace itself. Obviously that can be pretty concept breaking so it'd be nice to know.

I imagine its safe to assume that Web Envelop, Mace Beam Volley, and Web Cocoon all use the mace. Focused Accuracy probably doesn't.
But what about Scorpion Shield and Summon Blaster/Spiderlings/Tarantula?

The armor and the summons do not whip the mace out, as far as I am aware. Any attacks will use the Mace model.

You know...I was going to ask, is there any Patron Set that is better than APP? Besides being just "different" or "cool looking with a Mace", what's the advantage of Hero using Patron sets?

The only one I can think of is maybe Defender/Troller taking patron pet since they have the buff powers to make them stronger but even that is not really an "advantage". Maybe just a change in play style?

I really wish they could get rid of the duration. The recharge is already long.

Take Mace Mastery for example, Dominator gets a ST range attack that debuffs a little. The damage is pathetic (if you include the activation time) on Dominator because Dom already has full Secondary set devoted to attacks. Why would a Dominator take Poisonous Blast over ...let's say Sleet that debuffs more targets, debuff harder, knockdowns, slow and can be cast pretty often?

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

The big thing with the PPP's from a mechanics view is the Shields.

I'm not sure what the APP shields are like but I know the PPP ones have equivalent values to armor sets. e.g. Scorpion Shield is 20% Defense to Smash/Lethal

Also Waterspout. I can't see myself swapping it out for anything in the APP's my Stalker would get.

Defenders can get Power Boost instead of Power Build Up (faster rchg). Scrappers can get Sharks or Shadow Meld.

I think those are the only real temptations for my heroes to take Patrons.

Fire Blasters can get Web Envelope and use RoF with no prejudice

I am not so sure about Sharks. I think I've only seen two people taking them! But yeah, Shadow Meld is very awesome to taking alpha. I forgot about that.

Doesn't Power Build Up also increases damage? Regular Power Boost only improves secondary effects?

Correct - PBU gives +ToHit, +Dmg, +Special. Power Boost is just +Special, on a faster recharge.
