alignment pros and cons

Unless something has changed real recently, this isn't true. A vigilante can't participate in red side SFs and a rogue can't participate in blue side TFs.

Also, neither vigilantes nor rogues can gain alignment merits, which, from what I've read in the market forum, are very profitable.

You probably have very outdated information (if it was ever correct at all).

Vigilante CAN participate and even START red side SFs. Rogue CAN participate and even START blue side TFs.

"Fixed a crash whenever a Tourist became leader of a Task Force or Strike Force. Tourists can now accept and lead Task Forces and Strike Forces. "
So clearly prior to this morning something was broken with Vigilantes and Rogues regarding them.
total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
your prolly off in your info because in order for a vigilante to join a red side team they have to be in the rogue isles, vice versa goes for the rogues

Can a vigilante do the once per day conversion of 50 regular merits into a Hero Merit?
Also, neither vigilantes nor rogues can gain alignment merits, which, from what I've read in the market forum, are very profitable. |

Only problem I have had with mixed team was when Rogue attempted to start Kahn TF, it would crash everyone on the team when plasyers attempted to zone into mission.

In all other instances (the latest was yesterday MoSTF started and led by Rogue) we haven't had any problems.
PvPing on mixed team in "board train" missions is different story altogether, and to make it happening you need to make rogue enter mission from any non-blue side zone.
If you go Vigilante and then reaffirm your alignment, ie run anther 10 vigilante tips and a vig morality mission, you'll be rewarded 60 merits. Same with Rogues.

Yeah, that's an important note. If you're not able to get onto a team, go over to red side and ask to be invited again.
I'm trying to understand the pros and cons of having a Hero go Vigilante (or a Villain go Rogue). I've gathered from the forums that the different temp powers for each alignment aren't useful enough to be a significant factor in choosing alignments.
If a Vigilante can participate in both blue and red side teams and task forces, then that would seem to be a huge reason to go Vigilante rather than stay Hero. What is the reason to stay Hero rather than going Vigilante?
