Retarded fire imps?
Are you kidding or serious?
In answer to the question, no there's no way to control any of the Controller pets; that ability is the exclusive province of Masterminds. It's true that the monkeys tend to be hyperactive toddlers with ADD but you'll learn how to lead them around and (hopefully) keep them focused on the same group you're working on.
Yes, they will occasionally go running off and get into trouble; that's just something you'll need to put up with. Surprisingly you'll find that you can keep them somewhat under control with practice although there will always be times when they run off and bring friends back to meet you. They're very effective at dealing damage as is the whole Fire Control set. Their, um, impetuousness, is the price you pay for their ability.

thank you for the response, im used to having some type of control in most games
If you are using the leadership pool, specifically the Tactics power, you'll want to rethink your build. Tactics gives the Imps additional perception and causes them to see (and attack) targets that are (much) farther away.
Also, if you are playing a Fire/Storm, and are using O2 boost to heal an imp you'll have the same problem. O2 boost does several things, heals, provides resistance to endurance drains, and boosts the target's perception. If you use this on an Imp you'll have the same situation and a single Imp will run off, get itself killed, and bring his new friends back home to play.

I have a 50 in every AT, but Scrappers and Dominators are my favorites.

Exactly what I was thinking. They sometimes wander off to go look at the butterflies, but they bring a lot of power so thats the trade off.

Imps are ADD lunatic children and will attempt to claw the face off anything within their perception range. However they are "leashed" to you as Peacemoon says so you can wrangle them somewhat by ensuring you don't get too close.
They are the worst offenders of the Controller pets because they don't have ranged attacks and are quick moving. So they'll frequently rush into one spawn to attack and then spot another and go "Oooh, look. I'll get them instead".
You get used to it and you generally have the tools as a Controller to deal with it (Flashfire and Cinders are gold).
There's a /releasepets command you can keybind for a quick panic control. Just kill 'em if they start getting adventurous.

Practice and you will have them under control(for the most part) in no time...wish you could have experienced back in the day when we could have 9-15 of them out almost perma...they force you into becoming a better controller and now a better dom as well
To the OP...welcome to the world of fire imps I've had my imps glitch and run past me down a hall after fighting a mob, and couldn't figure out where they went. Next thing I knew they were running past me in the opposite direction. I laughed and shook my head...imps are crazy
i just unlocked my fire imps and they are very stupid and attack anything, is there a way to do a pet control to make em passive and such? these imps are very annoying but give me alot of dammage. help?
