Praetoria Contact Chain Broken?

- Created a character
- Chose "Veteran" to skip Tutorial
- Performed initial mission (as Loyalist)
- Did a mission chain from Praetor White, until he stopped giving missions (last one was flowers for Cleo, as I recall)
- Chose Path of Power and was referred to Provost Marchand, who gave no missions

I'm now at L7 and with no active contacts. Is this a natural break in the contact progression for Praetoria or has something gone wrong? Hints/Tips?

If I remeber correctly Provost Marchand direct you to talk to a couple of people. When you meet them they give you some background about what they do. You must then click on them again to get them to give you missions. Its not very intuitive to have to talk to them twice but that's how I got their missions.

Zombie Man's guide in the Going Rogue section should have the contact chain listed if you forgot who you talked to.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

You can also just walk up to the first contact in an arc and talk to them. You can check out Zombie Man's Guide to I18, and here is where he lists the contacts for the various Praetorian arcs.

Also, I believe you have to be level 5 for Provost Marchand to direct you to the next contact (actually he offers two and you choose one). Maybe you were only level 4 when you talked to him? Go back, he should give you a new contact now.

Ran into this too; after you are introduced to the level 5 contacts by your handler (Provost Marchand or Calvin Scott ), you need to talk to the contact again after the first introduction in order to get missions.
On top of the 2 contacts on your 'side', one of the contacts from the other 'side' can be accessed if you want to do undercover work ( Chief Interrogator Washington and Robert Flores ). Just walk up to the contact to get a mission.

Nova Praetoria
  • Mission Contacts
    • Praetor White - Located in the Magesterium, this is the first contact for all members of the Powers Division (Resistance and Loyalist)
    • Provost Marchand and Calvin Scott are your handlers as members of the Loyalists or Resistance.
    • At level 5, Calvin Scott will lead you to Robert Flores; or Santiago, who directs you to meet Ricochet in the Underground. At this point you may choose the path of a Warden or Crusader.
    • At level 5, Provost Marchand will offer you a choice between the Deputy Assistant of Information and Chief Interrogator Washington. This will start you down the paths of Power or Responsibility.

Same problem here.
I'm level 5 now, where do I find Marchand?

Also, as I've said elsewhere, somehow I got killed in the tutorial, which looked to be a glitch. Full health to zero in a couple seconds.

This tossed me to the hospital in NP, leaving a mission in P5 I can't get back to complete or cancel, and AFAICT cost me my first chance to pick a faction defaulting me to Loyalist. Dev's/GM's havd been pretty silent on this so far. ;(

Not trying to sound harsh but why didn't you just reroll the character when that tutorial glitch happened? Sure file a bug report but just start over. Since they gave us the save costume feature a while back you don't even have to try to remember what your costume looked like. Just reselect the powers, load the saved costume, and restart the tutorial.

Marchand should be reachable by phone. I think you have the Call option on your Contact List (Active) from the very first time you hear his name.

Unless you didn't save it.
(Which I did, designed it pre-GR.)
OTOH, is there an auto-save I don't know about?

He's not on my contacts list.
No one but White and Kalinda is.

Thanks for the replies (and the guide recommendation) that did the trick for me. I'm sure I clicked on everyone in the room post-Marchand (including the Info Minister) but this time he gave me a mission chain.

Might have been that I was too low in the first instance to get him first time around (been street sweeping in the interim).

Back on track here - many thanks!

Regards,
MZ (or Demon Magician in Praetoria!)

Not to low just he don't hand out missions the first time.

Each contact Marchand gives you has a "Hello" message then the second time you click on them they offer missions.

That's a bug, Kalinda shouldn't be on a praetorians contact list.
Did you talk to Marchand at the end of the tutorial mission?
In any case you can find Marchand in the Loyalist lounge in Nova Praetoria.

This, this, this, a thousand times this!

I've lost track of the number of people I've had to tell "you need to click the contact again after their intro text to start their missions". This had better not be WAI, because it's counterintuitive, especially since we don't have those "exclamation mark I wanna talk to you" flags for contacts in this game, so there's no indication that they are willing to talk to you again.
