Okay! How do I switch sides?
You can travel to the other side, collect badges there, and join teams there. You won't be able to do the other side's missions solo for the most part, but you can do the Newspaper/Radio/Safeguard/Mayhem stuff.

The advantages to the 'gray' alignments is that you have the flexibility to play with anyone on their mission either side. You can do a TF and a SF in rapid succession if you like. This flexibility is quite a convenience. I will be doing that with my main alts.
Is there any benefit/detriment to just staying technically a "rogue" caught halfway between hero and villain?

However you do sacrifice the ability to collect hero/villain merits which can buy some very nice shinies. Thus I will be keeping some alts for the purpose of pursuing those.
Good thing I've got so damned many alts.
Too many alts to list.

I have a character, Venus DeVine, who is a plant/thermal controller. She's, ya know, divine, a goddess, and above morality, so I think I can play that up to make her available for as many teams as possible by keeping her rogue.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

Didn't they mention some kind of temp powers for "staying" Vig/Rogue?
Dec out.

I'm trying to get a morality mish. After reading this thread I gather it has to be "dropped" like other tip missions.
No.
You need to complete ten Tip missions to fill your alignment bar, at which point you get a morality mission that allows you to either reaffirm your dedication to what you already are or shift one step to the other side. (Villain -> Rogue, Rogue -> Hero, Hero -> Vigilante, Vigilante -> Villain) |
Your comment above (and several others) makes it sound like you just automatically get a morality mish right when you step out of the 10th tip mission :P
The Redemtion Alignment Guide sounds the same way..quote
"Completing a Tip will award you with a point in the mission's Alignment. After gaining 10 points in one alignment, you will be given a Morality Mission."
maybe I'm missing something. I'm off to attempt to get a Morality drop.
perma jump is ---> /up 1
It would be clearer to say that after completing 10 Tips and filling up the alignment meter bar, your next Tip drop will be a Morality mission.

More specifically, any tip drop you get while at a full alignment meter will be a morality mission (so you could start 3 morality missions at once). But on completion of a morality mission are of your tips are discarded (so you can't complete all three in a row).

Rogues get a PBAoE Confuse power. It's not terribly impressive.
All of the alignments have temporary powers for staying. They are all, IMO, rather underwhelming. I don't recall the details, but there were long timers on the lot.

Vigilantes get a PBAoE Fear power. It's not terribly impressive.
Heroes get Call to Justice, a PBAoE buff to tohit and damage. It doesn't stack, but on a full team of heroes it can be up quite often. It's pretty good.
Villains get Frenzy. Its effect depends on your archetype.
If you are a Dominator, it instantly fills your Domination bar.
If you are a Brute, it instantly fills your Fury bar.
If you are a Stalker, it grants a buff to tohit and damage and places you in Hidden status.
Other archetypes get a buff to tohit and damage.
My personal favorite is Frenzy, on the archetypes that get special effects from it.

Why MA ratings should be changed from stars to "like" or "dislike"
A better algorithm for ordering MA arcs

I wasn't sure I'd like the Rogue PBAOE confuse, but it really has helped survivability on my widow. If I get in over my head, the confuse generally reduces incoming damage long enough for me to take down some strategic targets and get my footing back. Generally speaking, the damage the foes do to each other in these situations doesn't set me back any notable XP loss, either.

The hero buff, though, I'm quite happy with.
Don't have any vigilantes or villains.

Well, you can't get the new Hero or Villain merits if you stay gray, and you're only able to talk to contacts from your original side.
