Forums issues

This afternoon, the forums were fine.

This evening, the forums fell off the face of the planet.

Sometime later this evening, the forums came back.

Except someone forgot to kickstart all the hamsters, because I am getting page timeouts like five times more often than usual (and our forums aren't that great to begin with). Sometimes the page just hangs and hangs and hangs and doesn't even get to the timeout until I refresh and it says, "oh yeah! You were trying to do something."

I remember a few years back the forums had the exact same issue. Apparently they upgraded the software since, but the hardware still bites.

Ditto, getting lots of time-outs and sporadic weird behaviour.

Given the changes that were due (yesterday) yhey could be doing behind the scenes stuff with the forums still up (like moving a backup) but it'd be an odd thing to do, even if it is the middle of the night US side.


Edit : In fact it's gotten worse over the last hour or two. Looks like it got totally reset a few minutes ago.

Guess it didn't want the gameservers/chatservers to have all the fun.

Haha. I was tabbed out of the game while posting this, when I tabbed back in, this message awaited me: [Admin] Chat server is shutting down, it will be back shortly.

The forums I don't mind so much... when the game itself won't even allow me to log into some servers and load characters on others. Only since the maintenance.

Forums crashed for me about 9pm central time last night.
I just figured they took it down to nuke it in the shadows...

Looks like I missed the fun. When I tried to come to the forums late last night, FireFox kept telling me that the connection was reset.

And then it gave me a vB DB error message. Forums went BOOM!!

When FF kept giving me the "connection has been reset" message last night, I took it as an indication that I needed to get away from the computer for a while.

Getting to sleep early didn't work well, my body refused to cooperate and I laid awake tossing and turning for a few more hours until my "normal" bedtime.

Just FYI, I am still getting occasional timeouts and the occasional "hangs and hangs and hangs and hangs". It's not as bad as it was last night, but I still don't think all the hamsters are running. More are running than were last night, but definitely not all of them.
