Attention: aion scam email
I just received an e-mail nominally from "NCSoft support" saying I should go to NCSofta-----nts.com (obvious name redacted just to be safe) and enter my NCSoft account information for a chance to win a free Guild Wars 2 beta key.
It was a really poorly done e-mail. No graphics or anything, just large bold text.

Greetings, It appears to us that you have a PlayNC account, and we're opening the Guild Wars 2 beta on the 20th of september 2010. If you would like to have a chance to win a beta key (there's 5000 of them), head over to [url redacted] and log in, on the right panel you will see "Opt In For Beta", click it, and apply for the Guild Wars 2 beta! Regards, - NCsoft Support - NCsoft Team |

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
I like the "It appears to us..."
Makes me picture a couple NCSoft support guys staring at the monitor.
"Hey.. who is this 'Jophiel' guy and why is he here on our accounts screen...?"
"I dunno. I guess maybe he has some sort of account?"
"It would appear so... but I'm not sure. We better ask him for his account information and check."

When I'm bored, I follow them on an incognito window and give all fake information, such as username "no idiot will fall for this". A couple of times I've had the scammers email me back to say "you think you're clever, but we get thousand of accounts this way". While I won't take a scammer word's for it, I don't doubt that they get a lot of accounts; many people forget to bring their brains with them when they go online.

If possible, I take the time to send all of their pertinent information to the right sources such as the company in question, FBI (Internet Fraud), and my local ISP (as spam). I don't know if it actually does any good, but every little bit helps.
I think your perceptions are a little skewed here. NCSoft is not trying to emulate counterfeit email spam. The RMT sites are trying to counterfeit legitimate emails from game companies to their consumers to trick them into giving them their logins and passwords. An RMT email isn't going to refer you to someone at the company that will confirm that the email is bogus.
