The Caricaturist's Cart of Art

Hey, forum, how's it goin'? The above silliness you see is a character of mine, named the Caricaturist. He hangs around Atlas Park occasionally on Virtue, and even LESS occasionally someone stops by, reads his profile, and asks to be drawn. These... are the results of that. Hopefully you will find a few minutes of your time pleasantly wasted by checking these pictures out.


^Oops, this is actually my main character, not someone "off the street". I actually PLAY THE GAME as this one. The caricature is awful and shoddy enough that I'll probably revisit it at some point.


^This is Sands of Cyclonus, a buddy of mine who I roped into playing guinea pig for this. But he enjoyed it! I must have been doing it wrong.


^This is Revenge Shot. I still don't know if she ever saw this picture, because her browser was acting up at the time. She gave me a lovely conversation, however.


^This is Endemoniada, my bestest of friendests. This one fell way outside of the parameters every other picture in here follows, because I did it offline, from screenshots, and didn't waste her time at all (Three strikes! Everything else was while logged in, live, wasting the time of the people I drew!). Don't tell anyone.


^This is Kalon Mogenah, who I believe may have been coerced by a friend into doing this as a favor to me. Which was awesome, because I had been very bored not being noticed nor asked to draw anyone until then. The joke here is based on her wrapped-leggings look; it was either this or tie them together like shoelaces.


^This is Vince Morse, a hero with some mild anger management issue or another. The drawing is VERY silly, and also a little bit awful. My ability to draw was wearing its mild-mannered civilian disguise.


^This is Golden Ruby, who seemed pretty mystical and peaceful. You do not want to invoke the Evil Eye from a floating guy with glowing eyes, though. You will feel like SUCH a jerk! And you ARE. Why couldn't you just have let him BE! MOM is going to hear about this!


^This is Fakuko. I was definitely thinking about breakfast, which I was approaching without having slept first. It worked out, since I really like the face and the joke in this one. There are also some hella sick action lines. Check THOSE out. ACTION LINES.


^This is Chained Essence, a very polite and angelic-looking space alien. It was around the time that I started drawing her that I realized how much it sucks that the add-on pack costume pieces are intricately detailed and awesome-looking. Especially some of the ones she's usin' here. Fortunately, "caricature" is a broad word and I'm sure I could get away with much "less" than you see here... I just don't want to simplify or exaggerate too much (Except for stuff like these Valkyrie wings, because YIKES I can't do that any other way).


^This is Ghost.Lilith, who believe it or not is a wielder of DUAL pistols. But she's still pretty good with a single pistol, I bet! I am ashamed that I didn't get a good and awful joke into this one. I was off my game.


^This is Bumbleblaster, who apparently does not shoot bees out of his hands despite how cool that sounds. I don't think he jumps around with swarms of bees, shooting "BUZZZ", either. But he hung with the Caricaturist for a while, and it was a good ol' time despite the Rikti invasion somewhere in the middle.


^This is Khartas, portraying him as armed only with his mighty imagination and handgu... er, gun-han... hm. Imaginary guns. But real bullet casings? Dual pistols are fun; you can't blame The Caricaturist for being jealous. Please note the John Wu doves! They are like homing pigeons, except they home in on slow motion, mid-air gunfights (In reverse, though, so it looks like they're flying away? This is a very bad description that I've just made up. I didn't think it through very well).


^This is Switchout. She is super strong. The Caricaturist is never going to try opening pickle jars around her AGAIN. He's just going to give them straight to her right off the bat. This particular pickle jar may have been used to house the Clockwork King's brain, and then later the Pickle of Destiny, and could have been filled with a pickling brine from the Well of Furies. Or something. The stories vary, but no one ever got the darn thing open until now!


^This is Trashtalk, who may be a little too strong and confident for most people to play b-ball with. When she throws down, it's... well, it's pretty literal.


^This is High Jinks, a spirited crime-fighter with a lot of balls. Exploding, smiley-faced, juggling balls. Criminals will be getting this joke RIGHT IN THE KISSER for years to come. Truly, there is no visage more horrifying than a smiling clown. Batman came close with bats, but dressing as a CLOWN is really the way to make villains surrender on sight.


^This is Aglow, a psychic-powers hero who probably cheats at cards by accident all the time. Hm, mental beat-downs are hard to portray. It would probably look like amorphous rainbow animals strangling each other with chains of lightning, or bashing muddy glass window creatures over the head with flaming chainsaws. Way out of my league!


^This is Bare Knuckle Bunny. She has HER OWN ACTION FIGURE. The Lord Recluse doll doesn't have a chance! Oh no now he's getting a Barbie makeover! His reign of lameness and dark, bland clothing is OVER!

And that about wraps this initial post up. I've only been going for a couple of weeks, and it's hard to get attention when I refuse to do anything but stand there and hope someone will read my character's description (Hey, what can I say. Those who go out of their way to look around get rewarded. I like that concept). So there aren't nearly as many of these as there COULD have been. But I've been extraordinarily impressed with the support I've received from strangers, as well as the incredible patience displayed by every subject I've drawn. I've even gotten tipped twice! Nice!

I'll try to keep this thread updated at least once a week. Hope you guys enjoy it!

@Shadowclone: Hmm, what's wrong with your other new characters? Still, imagination is there to be used, so go for it!


^This is Cy Cop. This is, um, what you get if you attack him when he's in his Matrix-y "Bring it" pose. Absolutely. It's happened. So stay on his good side, and out of touching distance, if you notice him shuffling around on shag carpeting to charge up his truly shocking powers.


^This is American Queen, a masteress of the elemental yin and yang: Fire and ice, baby! Now, I realize she sounds pretty harsh. But we don't know who she's talking to! Maybe she's mulling over a dish of under-cooked leftover casserole!

Heh. I also smiled a bit when I saw the one you did of Revenge Shot because I know that character.

Haha I love that Trash Talk is actually talking trash. Great visual gag.
My favorites have got to be Switchout (reminds me of Xllusya a bit ) and Khartas (finger pistols FTW!) though.

^This is Star Corpse, who is a shining example of illumination and fiery hammer fists. Most people would say scrappers ain't so bright, but man, this guy is just ON FIRE!


^This is SPF 50. He has a downright eerie control over light and darkness... especially when he's blocking your tan. He has a seriously awesome eclipse insignia on his chest, which I feel is worth mentioning because it's AWESOME. I wouldn't really expect to see this guy at the beach though; that dark full-body costume has GOT to be a sweat trap.

Funny stuff! I like your out-of-the-inkwell style, too. Puts me in mind of the great old Fleischer cartoons, cool Day of the Dead folk art, and the art of Robert Crumb. That's, like, a whole summer of awesomeness packed into a few ink lines, so well done!

Also, I am in favor of a bee powerset for blasters.

@The Masked Shrike: As well you should bee! Blasters would go crazy for it! Well, *I* would. Also, thanks; black and white are my favorite colors!


^This is LampLight, who's the type of defender that just brightens everyone's day! Or night, I guess. In fact, it's probably easier for him to brighten a night. Make a note of it! It's always in your best interests to make your defender's job (Or defenders' jobs) as easy as possible, up to and including "Get closer to them so they don't have to walk as far" and "Fetching them iced drinks". For serious!


^This is the Malleable Mechanic. Presuming that you COULD knock him down, which you CAN'T, he'll just bounce back up again and burn some rubber on your noggin! Tread carefully around this mild-mannered Michelin Man, 'cos he carries a big wrench!

Haha. I'm the proud owner of Switchout and Aglow.

I'm actually turning the one of Switchout into a 'journal' piece where her super powers are really put to the test when an old lady asks for her help opening a pickle jar. Switchout's powers come and go, having no real control of her strength so as she tries to open the pickles... nothing happens. Except she farts for trying so hard.

Really enjoying all these! And I'm gonna abscond with "manly flutter" to use sometime in the future.
