Questions about Pet Resist IO's.

I asked in the Dom boards, and got a responce, then after talking with people in game... I'm still confused and would like to answers for you pros out there...

I've got 2 pets with these +resist io's in them. A singularity, and an Animated Stone. The singy has one, pooman has both.

Now, when i look at the resist power on them, the numbers don't change. But there are orange tringles. So are they working? I've been told yes, that the power icon i was reading doesn't reflect changes from that IO... is that true? I was also told that only one resist IO will work at a time, so the 2nd one in pooman is a waste?

Any information will be greatly appreacited!

If you're just looking at the resistance power the pets have, that's just an innate power they have that gives them their basic resists (like fire imps being resistant to fire and so on.) It doesn't account for any changes or anything, so the resist IOs wouldn't be reflected on there.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

You can monitor your pets' combat attributes just like you can monitor your own-- or at least MMs can with their minions. Try right clicking on the pets and then selecting "view combat attributes" or something in that vein.

Those IOs also grant the resist/defense bonus as an aura that is based on your character, so the pet has to be within 40' of you I believe.

It should show up as a buff in the pet combat attributes and yes they do stack with each other (unless there was a stealth nerf).

If you get all 4 you can gain +10%Def and +20%Res Total on all pets

It doesn't work with controller pets, or at least i can't get it too or find it. *shrug* I have MM's, 3 as a matter of fact. i know what your talking about, but, it doesn't work like that with troller pets as far as i can tell.

And i know the stack, (to the other reply) i've got them on my MM's. What the person told me, was that if i slot both resist IO's in the *same* pet only one works. As a controller, gravity and earth, you only get one pet. I have the 2 in pooman. But, have no way of knowing if they are both running... well, i guess i could try and do the math... somehow... i mean, i'd need to have the pet attacked with, and without the effect running... meaning, i'd have to get 40 feet away, and have him take damage... then be near him... but, the pet will follow me...bah.

"the person" is wrong.

Whoever said that is wrong - the pet IO's don't actually give the pet a power, it give YOU a power. You get an aura that gives all your pets within range the listed affect (10% resistance for each of the resist IO's and 5% def for each of the def IO's). The aura works a lot like a masterminds supremacy (and has roughly the same radius I think) except they give resistance or def instead of to hit and damage.

I know you can't check combat stats on a controller pet to verify if they are working but the are supposed to work - and stack up. If you really want to test them to prove to yourself they are working I would suggest an AE mission with a nice large map (so you can get out of range of your pet) and a single mob or something like that. Make sure one of your chat windows is set to list pet damage recieved and let the mobs pound on your pet when you are nearby - then go away from the pet (if you can) and see if the damage changes, use that to figure out how much resistance you are givign your pet. If you can't get far enough away, try using an alternate build that doesn't have the pet aura IO's - it will just take longer as you will have exit the mission to switch builds.

However, considering that my necro/pain mastermind has both of the resist IO's slotted in soul extraction and yet all her pets STILL get the benefit I am pretty sure that the IO's work the way I described - instead of the way you where told.

I suggest using a temp raptor pack. Flying straigh up will only leave the pet to circle your dot on the ground.
