I tried the same thing, same result

That should force it to get a new checksum and hopefully force it to patch the client.
*bows down in awe* THANK YOU KIT!!!! +rep for you for fixing my fix

The US client and the EU client are a bit different (IMO, they should merge the codebases), I'd really recommend against doing this as it could cause all sorts of confusion for the updater.

Tried it. The updater ran through the checksumming bit. Still couldn't log in

When I first fired up my CoH, my virus scanners were churning through my files so it slowed down the actual running of the CoH updater prog. Which is how I managed to see that there was a 25mb(ish) patch file on the patch server. It just is not downloading the patch when my client requests it.

In that case, I'm going to guess that the EU Updater is likely crashing or getting its connection chain-reset. Likely have to wait until NC can track down the problem and fix it unless someone out there that has copies of both the updated client and old client is willing to create a diff-file and upload it somewhere for others to download and manually apply the diff. I've done this once in the past on the Training Room (with a diff between the updated Test and the Live client) when the TR updater was flat out dead and only a few people made it through.

I was having the same issue (win 7 64), tried renaming the updater, restarted the pc and verified the files. Gave up for abit and tried connecting later. Not sure what happened but the updater did eventually connect.

Try this, it works for me:

1° Check your coh folder. You may find a tempfile. Delete it, and delete checksum too.

2° Reboot PC.

3° Stop your antivirus.

4° Launch updater.

(5° Don't forget to re launch your antivirus when repairs are done ^^ )

In my case, Avast didn't want CoH to change the name of the tempfile. But the updater didn't see anything wrong and go on.

Good thinking, Batman. That does indeed force it to patch up. Now we can play.

The trouble is, only people who browse the forum will be aware of this fix. Until the problem is sorted at Paragon's end, server populations are going to be dire.

Necrobond - 50 BS/Inv Scrapper made in I1
Rickar - 50 Bots/FF Mastermind
Anti-Muon - 42 Warshade
Ivory Sicarius - 45 Crab Spider

Aber ja, natrlich Hans nass ist, er steht unter einem Wasserfall.

Turned PC of for a couple of hours, came back, booted everything up and ... it's now DLing the patch.

I didn't change a single thing.

Paragon Studio's fix?

Same as The_Fish for me - I left the pc for a while, came back, and now the game patches and loads correctly.

A dev fix maybe? Or have the planets finally aligned? We may never know... =)

NA user here. Fiance and I are unable to log in at all, and the ISP is saying we keep getting shut down to a massive upload spike of 6 to 7 megs. We are only allowed 3 at any given time but I digress.

We tried the checksum file, and we do not seem to have a temp file. I will try the virus protection next.

First off, you should probably post this in a new thread, as it's an unrelated problem (the problem in this thread was a temporary server side issue with the EU update server).

What exactly is your problem? Is your ISP cutting you off, or are you getting some error with the game? And what do you mean that you're having an upload (or do you mean download?) spike of 6 to 7 megs? When are the spikes occurring?
