Help! Somethings Wrong!
just guessing...
Intel Integrated graphics?
Get an actual graphics card and download the drivers. I recommend Nvidia.
Unfortunately that's about the only thing that's going to solve the problem I think. Can get a decent one for $70-80 at Best Buy or somethwhere similar. There are a bunch of websites that you can order stuff from too, try newegg.com.

Make sure you've got the latest drivers, but other than that, there's not much you can do. Intel graphics and CoH don't mix too well.
64bit: "C:\Program Files (x86)\CoH\CohUpdater.exe" -useTexEnvCombine
Modifying your startup desktop shortcut to this should force you back into a lower shader mode.

If. You. Buy. an. Nvidia. Graphics. Card. Right. Now. You. Are. Getting. Ripped. Off.
Period. Stop. End of story.
The only place Nvidia is anywhere near price / performance competitive with AMD offerings is in the Geforce GTS 250. It's $100 versions can keep pace with AMD cards that cost $100.
That being said, there's a reason that XFX and Evga models still command $130-$150+ price points: pretty much every other vendor cut costs on build quality to get a GTS 250 card that low.
BFG, one of the vendors that would not cut corners on build quality has only recently left the graphics card market.
Now, if you want to tell people to go out and buy a card with shoddy build quality; buy a card without the features of a competitor in the same price bracket; or pay an outrageously inflated price to get the same performance as a competitor; just to have the Nvidia brand name. Go right ahead.
Erm, I used to HAVE an AMD card, and I hated it.
Unless they fixed the horrible compatibility problems it had I'll stick with Nvidia.
My game kept crashing due to display issues with the AMD card, even though the drivers were updated. I replaced it and haven't had a problem since. Maybe it was a compatability issue with my paricular system, but I did some trouble shooting and it turned out the card was the problem (okay, the tech at the shop did some troubleshooting, I'm not that good with computers)
Personal preference I guess. I choose to use Nvidia because I got burned by AMD and don't want to spend money because it MIGHT work this time.
Besides, it's MY money. If I want to spend a little more on a card that I trust is going to work in my system, why should you care?
I don't know, maybe I had a defective card in the first place, but that experience has left me leery of the company as a whole, and I'd rather not spend more of my money on a card just because someone on the CoH forums says it's better and end up having the same problem again.

Fixing those problems was one of the big features of Issue 17, right up there with Ultra Mode.
|
If you like AMD, and find that it works well for you, by all means use one. I recommended an Nvidia card because my personal experience with AMD left a bad taste in my mouth.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, I was simply stating my personal preference, and explaining the reason for that preference. .

Claws, just to jump in....
All of the ATI issues with CoX have been fixed as of issue 17.
ATI cards (especially the 5870) run just fine now.
On the other hand, Je Saist is a rabid NVidia hater, so take that as you will.
I am personally running both cards in my various machines. I've got an HD 5870 in one and it runs great. I've got a new GTX 480 in the other and it runs great too.
Admittedly, the 480's are not priced at the best price to performance point. The 5870's are cheaper and at stock levels perform equally (sometimes slightly better, sometimes slightly worse, depending on the benchmark).
But, at least as of the most recent driver releases, the 480 really powers up, quite a bit past the 5870, once you overclock it (assuming your cooling solution and power supply can handle the load). [at least from my own testing].
So, frankly, when asked about which card to get, these days I respond with . . . whatever floats your boat and is in stock.
6000+ levels gained and 8 level 50's

But, I'm not going to replace something that's working fine just because the problems with the alternative have been fixed. Like I said, it was a couple years ago that I replaced the AMD, and a fix for the problems was nowhere on the horizon at the time. I have had zero issues with my Nvidia card, so I'll be sticking with it for the remainder of it's lifespan.

Katie V tells the tale: That only works on a desktop system. Most people with Intel graphics are using laptops, which can't be upgraded like that. |
Integrated "graphics cards". **bangs head on desk**
Dec out.
Wait, I do not have a Intel Integrated Graphics card! I know for a fact, and i've been playing this game for a LONG time, and this problem never happend. Yesterday i re-installed this game, and then all this stuff is happening..
