DM/SD Brute Fight Clubber Build...

I have been PvPing for a while doing arena and zones for fun. I was always the one that made fun of the fight clubbers in the zone and now here I am asking for a fight clubber build. Crazy how things change. I have a DM/SD/Soul Mastery Brute and I was wondering if he can be made into a fight clubber? And if so does anyone have a build. I have about 3-4 billion to spend. Thanks for your help.

No build to give you but I can make recommendations. Try to get your melee defense at least 55% before DR (with ranged not far behind.) For fightclub take smite, shadow punch, boxing (you'll want tough and weave anyway) and buzzsaw it with at least two procs in each attack (I like glad strikeX3 plus makosX3 for punch and boxing, and five purples plus glad strike proc in smite.) Take touch of fear and slot for -tohit not fear. Slot siphon life with two Nucleolus, One Dam/End, One Golgi and two touch of the nictus (heal and the end/heal/acc.)

Drop soul mastery and take mace mastery. Be sure to take web envelope and focused accuracy.Get the kismet IO in your build somewhere too.

You can skip soul drain on a brute and take dark consumption instead. You'll need some type of +end power, and dark consumption will come in handy when fighting all the Elec armor sappers out there. Plus it's great for build +HP bonuses. Try to get at least 2200 HP with accos.

I'm pretty shocked. This seems like fairly solid advice for someone who's into the fite club stuff. I never expected to see this in the PvP forum.

Mocking condescension about tru warrirs commencing in 5, 4, 3...

I like the fightclub stuff almost as much as the other stuff. It's all PVP to me you just have to build for the kind you want to play.

Posted

And not shriek and wave your hands when people dont want to play by your made up rules. That isn't meant to be a dig, cause I know merc isn't that way, but a lot of bad press comes from others doing so.

Web env seems like it wouldn't do a lot under those conditions?

The reason I went Soul Mastery is because of darkest night. The -to hit with the -damage should help. I also planned on slotting Touch of Fear with all -to hit so I can stack it and I think that it will help with the defense. I was thinking of not getting One with the Shield.

Merc knows his ****, fc and straight up. Plus when he does fc there is no bcast spam about meet in the train of leave us alone we are dueling. He ask for a fight, if someone accepts it off to the arena. If all people fightclubbed or even pvped with the class merc did pvp would be far better off.

And yes I am aware I am huge dick in zones.

Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.

I miss when you could TK people to the other end of the map and cage for 30 secs at a time. Fight Clubbers HATED that.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

After 2 applications of touch of fear (slotted with -tohit, around -16tohit) your -tohit will be hit hard by DR quite hard. That plus your regular attacks will hit pretty much max out your -tohit. If you take darkest night as well you'll basically be wasting a power and you'll be missing out on something which every toon needs. Some form of +tohit +acc and tohit debuff resistance.

So I'd definetely recommend going mace mastery to get FA and also web envelope. Both will allow slotting for +def bonuses and the web will keep the hoppers on the ground for you (plus you'll be more viable in zones when not fightclubbing.)

Thanks for the advice....Once I come up with a build I will post it. I was also thinking of not getting Super Jump since I will mainly fighting in the arena and not have to travel anywhere. That wil free up a power and I thing I might be able to squeeze in Tactics. I could get manuvers for the extra defense even though it is so little.

I would only take shield charge IF you have a spare power choice and only IF you need it for bonuses (ie: obliterations.)

For strictly fightclubbing as a DM/SD I'd take shadow punch, smite, boxing (2 procs each) and siphon life for your attacks. And only use siphon to heal or as a finisher, not as part of the attack chain.

Other powers from dark I'd take:

Touch of fear (slot for -tohit, clouded senses is great here)

Dark consumption (you will need a +end power for fightclub, plenty of sappers out there and slot with acc rech and end)

I'd take soul drain over shield charge if there is a choice between the two, but soul drain isn't as needed thanks to your fast attack chain building up fury. SD is more needed on a scrapper or tank for fightclub.

From Shield Defense I'd take:

Deflection (great for the res/def IO and the glad armor +def)
Battle agility
True grit (slot full panacea if you can afford it)
Active defense
Phalanx fighting (good spot for a LOTg +rech)
Maybe one with the shield. It's just an end crash so it's manageable.

Power pools:

Speed: hasten, ss
Leaping: cj, sj (slightly optional for fightclub, especially if you have web envelope.)
Fitness: hurdle, health, stamina
Fighting: boxing, tough, weave

PPP:

Mace mastery: web envelope, focused accuracy.

I'm at work so don't have access to Mids, maybe I'll throw together a build when get home to show what I would do. There is a bit of leeway for power choices but building strictly for fightclub is pretty easy. Hitpoints, a heal, at least 70% recharge bonus, and maybe an ohsh*t power. Some people take phase, on my SR it's elude, and SD gets One with the Shield. High resists plus high defense works out great.

Your toughest opponents will be toons with high defense (negating your heal to an extent.) So Kat or BS/regens or other toons like your own.

The key to this build is the fast animating attacks (punch, smite, and boxing) so long as you put at least two procs in each attack you'll be golden (preferably PVP procs and the purple and Mako's.)

I'll see about a build later at home.

Cheers!

Dude ...U Rock thanks for the info. I was torn between dark consumption and shield charge. I was leaning more towards Dark Comsumption for the end drainers and long @$$ fights tha take a toll on the end bar.

Yeah I was working on a build last night for you and the best I could get melee defense to was 48%. That's not so hot, on an SR I can get it to 58% which is right around where it should be to be effective.

The difference is Shield's get some resistance off the bat whereas SR only gets scaling resistance. So it's kind of a tradeoff. Still it's probably the main reason I went with DM/SR over shields on a brute.

Looking at your build I'd use that more for a zone build because of the shadow maul and midnight grasp. For fightclub I can't emphasize enough how awesome shadow punch, smite, and boxing are with two procs each.

If you still want the build I can post it after work tonight. I didn't post it last night because I was concerned about the relatively low defense (48%) going to put you around 33% in PVP, which isn't too bad. I could only get to 50% recharge too which I wasn't a fan of either. Meh! Are you set on using shield defense?

Here's the build I put together. It may be way out of your rpice range but this is what I would use in fight club. I don't have budgets when it comes to PVP toons, so this may not be your cup of tea.

I can't say I am a huge fan of shield defense. It's easier to get higher defense and recharge on an SR. Paired with DM, SR is great for fight club. But if I went shield this is what I'd probably do.
