dude, and yes I say dude, you are not even worth arguing with. Plz pretend to be a girl more.

As for EU servers, lol i'd bet the entire of that retarded population is 1000 times the pvp'er you are or ever will be.
how do SoCo sport such a retard
I am very much a neophyte PvPer, but I have seen many times the "fly iz for nubs" comments when someone uses fly in zones/arenas, because of the use of -fly attacks... but then I watched on night in RV when someone was complaining about a pair of hover-blasters being "noobs", but the people they were killing had no ranged -fly attacks... nor did any of their teammates. I wonder if everyone saying over time that fly is bad has made people actually stop taking the defenses against flying foes, therefore making fly viable again on account of "expectation of failure".
Edit: At least for ranged 'toons, especially /EM blasters with increased range on their attacks.

ZOMG a flying TANK!!

Hey man, this was post-DR, so all those buffs actually did pretty little. No idea where Ronin is. He came back for a while in I14 or something, but sirens kinda died in the last few months, so I guess he took off again.
I'm sure he'll figure out another exploit and be back. Good to see you and keep doing your thing.
I guess SC will turn into BB+WB before i get back to play...too bad.

I use fly on most of my pvp toons. It lets me soar majestically through the air, weave in and out of buildings to avoid attacks. And if you use A, A, Space you do a barrel roll to the left. D, D, Space is a barrel roll to the right. Its great for avoiding attacks. You can always just fly up and pick when you want to attack and always contribute to the fight.
There are a few other maneuvers you can pull but those are more sekrit and let you avoid more attacks and do dive bombs so enemies can never see you coming. The first step to learning them is believing they exist. Don't believe me? Okay just one more. If you slot fly and swift with Micros and turn on invisibility (from stealth pool) tap W twice then hold space you won't get any Travel Suppression until you let go. I haven't seen many people with fly turn the tide in zones as well as me, but I know I'm not the only one who knows about the fly poses and tricks you can do with them. |
Are you sure these work? i tried them. . . they dont :P im probably ding it wrong or you were being sarcastic

Fly works on my peacebringer, though I can just TP to top of map when I get web naded. Not sure how it would work with a non-TPer
|
A) Peace Bringers can't get TP
B) Travel suppression would not allow TP even if you had TP.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
As a side note: An already queued TP cannot be suppressed at all. When a TP'er learns to TP not once but twice at all times, they can actually counter everything from gank squads and TP foe to droning.
"Situational power? Sure. Although in a sense... all powers are situational. It's just that some situations occur more than others." Understand the situation needed in order for the power to be most effective... and make that situation happen.
Web Grenade causes all of about half a seconds worth of TS. Most powers that don't deal damage suppress very very little making TP a suitable counter to web grenades... equal to phase and/or Hib in terms of reliability... and far better than SS'ing all da way home to base. In Short TP > Web grenade.

Why do you still give advice? TP is equal to phase, hibe and better than SS? gtfo here

Learn to comprehend.... then get back to me... with a question based on something other than ignorance.

It is also very possible that TP is already supressed from attacking or taking damage even b4 you get hit with web. There is alot of scenarios that can come into play.... and the one your talking about is that someone web nades you then calls it a day....8P Phase/hibernoob works.
My Merc's MM loves flyers in zone btw..... if I get attacked by a flyer or "attack all" on a flyer taking liberties on a teammate or whatever... Both Spec-op's 80% of the will fire webnades and the rest of the pets attack at the same time... getting webed and taking damage at the same time. Phase/hibernoob works.
The 1st thing you do after you web nade a flyer is queue up attack.... this will suppress tp (web nade hits suppresses tp + attack hits supresses tp your not going anywhere)... Phase/hibernoob works.

Believe it or not, but the attack that is queued up after casting web grenade while a TP'er is falling won't hit before TS wears off from web grenade. If you catch a TP'er this way it is more likely that they just didn't do it right.
Anyone who claims to Fly/TP in PvP but cannot outrange the the attacks of MM pets and/or stays within range of them is also doing it wrong, sorry to say.
The only thing that really stops a TP'er is the TP'er himself... if they choose to start attacking and suppress themselves when webbed. TS can be manipulated. Unaware players often cast attacks that suppress longer than their next attacks. Those following attacks however don't supress at all. Only the longest duration of TS applies and it is difficult for most players by themselves to even come close to perma suppressing a TP'er with attacks alone. I admit though it can take a quick finger to pull it off when under fire. Toggle debuffs work best in these situations... Invis and of course mezzing the person applying them is the counter for that.

I'm aware that Phase/Hib works... as I made no menetion that TP is better, but equal to... when webbed. Having both of course is awesome too.

Fair enough.... I'm assuming the window between getting webbed and tping away B4 you take damage is small.... what if you took damage 1st then got webbed...say DOT?
Just seems that there is sooooo much webbing going on red side (patron powers, heavy, npc's ect..) in RV that you always have to look out for it 1st as a flyer who's method is to tp away before or after he takes damage.
I have a few toons that have TP .... When I start taking incomming damage that would make me want to bail, the icon never goes "white" lt seems letting me know that suppresion is over unless I phase then TP away.
In RV as soon as you see a hero flying hes getting webbed.... at least from my time playing in RV this is what I do and see from others... and/or he's getting tp'ed out of the sky as a called target on my teams. Red side too really... seems anyone with a -fly power likes to put it to work.
DoT supresses like any other ST attack. It starts when the attack shows up in one's combat window, and ends shortly after... sometimes even while the DoT is still being applied. As mentioned previously, the method of 'attack first then web' can often work in a TP'ers favor because the duration of TS from the attack lasts longer than that of webnade... making the TS caused from webnade not even happen when used right after.
Basically it boils down to falling patiently without attacking whenever webbed until TP becomes available. Making a lot of this work has to do with how high you're flying when webbed. Low flying often leads to a dead flyer. High flying with +range to make it work brings opponents up to you and usually out of their element (as SS/SJ'ers). As someone earlier in the thread suggested... a good flyer can usually get the jump on others from above or see them coming before they let them get within webnade range.
TP Foe alone, like web grenade causes very little (if any) TS due to the fact it is not a damaging power. It also thankfully, provides a TP'er with 1 or 2 seconds for any TS to wear off while the 'unaffected ' phase is still being applied. Also, with patience and a quick finger it isn't terribly difficult to queue up TP when one heres the TP Foe animation starting to play and dissappear imediately after being TP'ed. Since TP Foe will count as the 'first' TP, the one a TP'er queues during the TP Foe anmation acts as the second TP and cannot be suppressed and players and even drones aren't quick enough to fire a shot before the TP'er is carried off to their own queued destination.

"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I like the idea that it is more noble to tp away than ss away to the base. Because if you can rp it, its better.
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
tp is not as RELIABE regardless of how quick ur fingers are. How many toons do you see in RV webnading people by themselves? None. And if they are webnading people by themself, they're a downie. Ts will kick in, and even though it doent stack it will start over befofe your tp can be used. I have a pb with and when I switch to dwarf I use a bind to tp, and if there's multiple people attackin, which in my case there usually is, tp does not go off. Your fingers aren't quicker than a key bind, and you can't pull that lame card, "do you have any toons with tp? No, then, I know more" because as mac said a while ago, I don't need to own a pinto to know it sucks...
Hm. I've used Fly since issue i12, and I was constantly told how "bad" it was as a travel power. So I'll shed some light on my experience with Hover/fly.
|
Fly -
Pros: As someone said in a previous post, you get a Birdseye view of the entire field. With fly, I'm able to see my "threats" before they're able to see me. |
This, basically. Some people know that flyers exist, and look for them. There's also spots where you are stealthier on the ground than in the air.
And just so someone doesnt think so, you cant see further when up in the sky. You can see targets within your perception-based range, and when high up that means you can see the ground, but not players on it.
With being said, I can, and will almost always get the drop on someone from above. For those who like to duck and dodge between buildings, than can do it all they want, I'm right above the building waiting for them to come out.
|
Safety - Contrary to what people believe, Fly is SAFER than SS/SJ to a certain extent. With fly, you don't have to be on guard as much while not engaging someone in a fight. SS/SJ'ers need to constantly move like they're jacked up on caffeine as to not be wrecked by a stalker. (Keep in mine I'm not saying that you can't be wrecked by a stalker with fly, those who know how to use fly will be generally safer.)
|
Escapes - With fly you can escape to places that a few others can't get to, with the exception of those who use the jet pack.
|
If you yourself have a -fly like I do, it's not a problem to deal with, fall damage is nice to have on your side.
|
Cons - Mobility - When you take fly, you make sacrifices. While you are able to access any area of the zone, you are limited to how fast you can get there, and while engaged in a fight movement suppression may seem like an Achilles heal. |
Webnades and the likes are indeed what makes Flight not overpowered. I wouldnt count them as a disadvantage of Flight though. Non-flyers can be glued in place too. Yet if you fly, the enemy MUST have something like that in his arsenal though to fight you decently.
I get a lot of flack for using fly, but I can hold it down out there. |
Flight is at any rate not super-duper everyone-else-is-too-stupid-to-defeat you.
I am sure both flying and nonflying characters can be played in PvP well and in a way they are fun.
(provided the rest of the character is PvP-able, of course.... :/ )
