New Mind/Psi dom! comments and tips please!

SO i have this new Mind/Psi dom, i like the build but i want to improve it. I would like to be able to farm with it but i dont think its possible with mind control.

I have the build on mids but i have no idea how to uplaod to coding onto the forum, so if someone could tell me how that be great!

I cannot stress enough that you are going to miss not having any ranged ST attacks. Subdue is pretty much a must-have power for /Psi, in my experience. I'll also say that you should just drop Fitness, because with Drain Psyche you should have no problem staying topped off at all times. And on the subject of Drain Psyche, you won't need to slot it for End Mod. Unslotted, hitting two targets you'll get more Endurance than you can functionally burn through. It's much, much harder to cap regen than it is endurance for that power, so I'd suggest going that route.

The fitness pool includes Stamina and Health - that's what you need to get rid of - not tough and weave. If you look at your survival numbers, you loose approximately 20% resistance (there would be even greater losses with some changes to your slotting).

Additionally, the extra accuracy mods in drain psyche and total domination are unneeded. Even if you have a statistical 100% chance of hitting a mob (with defense adjustments already taken into account) you have at most a 95% chance of hitting due to the 5% rule. So going to extremes of maximizing your accuracy with these powers instead worthwhile and the slot can be better served with some other enhancement or being used in a different power.

Finally, I'd choose a different travel power set than Flight. Flight is the slowest travel power, and switching between your tier 2 and tier 3 travel power is a nuisance. If you intend to farm, really the best choice is Super Speed. SJ could work - but that depends on how spread apart spawns are and the slotting of Combat Jumping.

Firstly farming was jsut a basic idea but i dont feel its possible with mind control. Im not entirely comfortable with the loss of health and stamina, mainly for stamina its self and the added recipes in health. I think relying solely on Drain Psyche for end is a bit risky especially if faced with, say a boss or an AV, drawing end off one enemy isnt substantial. i have flight for the concept idea so that one stays. Additonally i feel slots are a bit thin on the res/def powers, but that cannot be helped, and then the defense is so small it seems utterly pointless.

One enemy will give you more off an unslotted Drain Psyche than you would get off 3-slotted Stamina. You might think it's risky, but over dozens (probably hundreds...) of hours of playing my Mind/Psi I can attest to you that I haven't missed Stamina.

On your build, you're going to want Mass Hypnosis. I know you're probably thinking, "What the hell, who needs a sleep?" but there's an entire strategy to beating the LRSF that's built around that power. Your contribution on the LRSF could be that one power and Confuse and you'd still be the MVP.

One other note; defenses on a permadom are nice, but they're not strictly necessary outside of the patron shield and possibly an "oh crap" power (Hibernate, Surge of Power, Demonic Aura). As long as you know what's going on you should be able to keep yourself alive just fine with two (or three or four) spawn-negating powers, your hold, and strategic use of Confuse. If you want to keep them that's fine, but 9-12% defense isn't going to set the world on fire.

ok well im just very wary of dropping stamina but ive been told now a few times i wont need stamina so i will drop it. I understand the importance of mass hypnosis for the LRSF but i have no room for it at all. The powers i have are really the ones i want to keep hence taking them but if u can find a way to put mass hypno in with decent slotting that be great.

You actually have too many 6.25% recharges in there, so you're losing recharge/spending more than you need to. You're way over permahasten already with that build, so you can either frankenslot something to free up slots for something else or find a slot somewhere to put Kinetic Crash in Levitate. The only other suggestions I'd have is to switch the purple confuse set to Confuse, because that proc is pretty nice, and I'd suggest not using the damage proc in Malaise. Part of the power's greatness is that it gives no aggro, which the proc will undo.

I didn't see the latter build, but if you're going high-recharge permadom, you will not need to touch the fighting pool. Mind/ has so much mitigation that once you have your controls up all the time stuff won't be touching you much. Drain psyche heals up what does get through.

Telekenisis is also very handy vs. AV's once you reach perma-dom status. Mass hypnosis is the best opener you can find, so letting that one go will hurt big time.

OK so i have taken everyones advice onboard and have finally found the perfect build for it.........i think...
at the end i didnt know whether to have weave or invis......weave would be more useful i think...

You can never have too much recharge.

Its not a bad build. There's room for improvement, but I think you're survivable numbers on close to where they need to be. I think you'll figure out better how to slot it and what powers you need more once you start playing with him after you put this build into use.

I agree with picking up Weave instead of Invis - Weave you can actually use - if you use Invis you're not doing anything else.

Speaking of powers you probably won't use, Confuse. Your ST hold and sleep will be more useful than a ST confuse.

Overall I think this is a great improvement from your initial build and you should test it out to get a better feel for how it will play.

Heres one im gonna make. took PFF and aid self. pretty much means ill never die, coupled with drain psyche is uber. Has team buffs tactics/assault/veng. IMO u dont need total dom with mass sleep/confuse. Has smashing damage pows for robots. Awesome accuracy. Great hp.

I think overall I liked your previous build better. Even though it had fly =P

I personally shoot for 130% global recharge bonus without hasten. The reason for this is playability - you don't need hasten in your build if you have that much recharge (and I can't wait till I get the vet badges to get rid of it!). Domination will stay up by itself without any use of Hasten, and I've grown to like playing that way. I basically have a higher 100% recharge time than someone with 62-80% recharge that needs to hit Hasten to keep up their perma dom (because of the downtime for Hasten) - even though mids might tell you otherwise. Additionally you'll find that higher recharge leads to higher damage output. I know there's a huge swing back to lower recharge values - but I personally love my tier 3 crazy recharge.

Your defense wasn't bad before - somewhere north of 15% is nice, but the key component to go with that is that you need the 55%+ resistance to make it worthwhile. I've tried the scorpion shield, and was utterly disappointed with it. You would need to slot more for defense than what you are currently in either of your builds. If you are going for a defense (and no resistance) build, you'll also want to maximize HP so you can survive the hits you take.

Other than that the totals looked very good - and its just a matter of getting use to the powers and being sure that they work for your playstyle. I know what kind of attacks and mez I like, which you may or may not like. You may find that some of the powers once you start playing with her more aren't that used.

Just a quick note on Stamina. I have a 50 Mind/Psi w/ Stamina, and I still can run out of end. Granted, I play more like a brute and rush large groups ahead of everyone else (or solo) and spam all my AoEs, but even w/ Perma Dom coming up every 80ish seconds and DP, I eat a few blues now and then.

IMO, if you are not not running out of end on most builds, you are not trying hard enough.

You have perma-domination level recharge? And drain psyche AND run out of end?

Maybe he just doesn't use DP, because I'm always one spawn ahead of the team and I don't think I've ever run out of endurance. Any time you want to use it you can just throw out one of your three spawn-neutralizing powers and easily drain 5+ enemies in total safety.

The only thing I can do at that point to drain my end is to continually spam and interrupt my snipe. Otherwise it is literally impossible to use that much endurance.

Yeah, the only way I run out of end on my Mind/psy perma dom? running fly, stealth, the patron armor and telekenisis, fly/stealth unslotted for endurance. even then, I can keep it up for a while before gulping a blue.

Just depends what you get yourself in to. If you can't burn through the ~3.8 eps you'll have from one target then you aren't fighting hard enough. Which is to say, what do you do when you fight an EB or AV?

As a point of reference I have perma Heatloss + stamina on my ill/cold. Sometimes it will miss when I'm taking out an AV, or other times it is simply too dangerous to get in close to ensure I get the enemy centered buff. HL is slotted for end mod, whereas DP is typically slotted for health. With just my caster buff I recover 5.68 eps and I can still run very low on endurance.

Are the times that my recovery is below 8 eps common? no, but it just depends where you put your toon. For general play I'd say you could easily skip stamina on a high recharge /psi dom. Whether you want to skip hurdle combined with cj is a different matter though.
