IO set for Assassin Strike?
Well if you need more melee defense, touch of death is good; if you need more ranged defense, mako works. If you are softcapped without it, 5 of crushing impact gives a nice little bonus to recharge. Recharge in the power itself is not really that important. With just regular IO's, base accuracy is a weee bit higher, and you will probably be hitting BU before it, so I don't think more than one accuracy is necessary.

Unless you are planning on incorperating AS into your attack chain beyond the initial strike, i see little benefit in purping it. I'd much rather see a purp set in a long-recharge high-dmg attack that isn't interruptable, or in a shorter-recharge attack i cycle all the time so i get the higher proc chance often.
I'd also only purp it if i didn't need some kind of def bonus, which as the OP is /nin, he may well need.

Any one of half a dozen alts!
I used to plan my builds around not going for set bonuses from AS. Instead, I'd go with three Acc/Dam HO's and three damage procs and let the rest of the build handle recharge reduction.
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

To the OP: like many things with IO slotting, the "best" solution is subject to change and highly dependent on the rest of your build. Both of my /nin Stalkers (PvE build designs) have Touch of Death for the melee defense - picking up ranged elsewhere - since I'm far more likely to have a good chance at a followup attack. But if you are going to want to PvP with it having the extra procs will help you out on actually finishing the target instead of just annoying them (and possibly making them jumpy).
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

I'll further add that it depends one what you're doing with the build.
The 3 HO/3 Proc set-up is a nasty little combination for PvP.
I also like the idea of Frankenslotting AS with L25 IO set pieces as well.
That approach still lets you max key attributes (Acc/Dmg --> 60/95%),
while giving some nice bonuses available down to L22 if you like to exemplar.
Additionally, you can usually get an SO or more worth of Recharge or
Endurance Reduction, or a mix of both depending on what IO's you use, and
finally, at that level, they're pretty cheap to buy and you never have to
change them again...
Some decent pieces for this are:
Bruising Blow: 1% recovery
Pounding Slugfest: 8% Regen
Kinetic Combat/Smashing Haymaker/Touch of Death: + Max Health with 3,
and two of those sets also have "Chance For" IO's as well...
Of course, 2 Acc, 3 Dmg, and a Endrdx or Rch (either commons or SO's) are
fine too...
It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Hey guys,
I'm giving an old stalker another try Elec/nin. I never got him far but I'm wondering about the slotting on AS.
In the old days it was 2 Acc, 3 Dam and 1 whatever you wanted. Is that still the case or is there an IO set that is perfect for AS?
