If you want social, check out Freedom, higher population = more peeps to chat/team/hang with. Then there is always Pocket D on Virtue...

First off, welcome back, and welcome to the forums!
If you're into RP at all, I'd suggest you check out the Paragon Universe. We're an RPSG on Virtue with plenty of active members.
If that's not your thing, then your best bet is likely Freedom server simply because of the high population. Just be warned: More people does mean you'll run into more rude/offensive/idiotic players, but there's definitely always something going on.
Scroll down the forums a bit to the server sections and make a post there.

I have a toon on freedom and it is faster to get teams and what not. But as I mentioned I'm looking for tips on how to find more of the social side of the game. Conversation, random stuff to do to help people, like their badges and what not. I tend to join lots of groups focused on lving and I'm kinda past that now.

The fact is you already make up a character. Odds are you base him/her off of yourself somehow. Just take it one step farther and act like it is you. How would you act if you knew some hostage was in danger and you could save him/her? How would you react to getting pounded by an AV? How would you feel after saving the day from a great evil?
Just think about it like you really are there and act like it. It's that easy, and it's a lot of fun.

Thanks for all the posts. I'm going to try each suggestion one way or another. I tried asking for a SG invite on Infinity earlier, may have to hit the forums for that. Also dusted off my Tank on Freedom to locate a channel but didn't locate an active group. I will keep tring tho.
RF2009 is a freedom channel. Now that they've cleared out the deadwood, Radio Freedom might be back. (I'm recent to freedom and not that knowledgeable.)
