Softcap defense for a Fiery Aura tank without neutering him?
For non-softcap builds, you can check the builds in my Guide (found in my link). I would say that's the way to go (do note that those are fairly affordable builds in there, too... you could probably tweak them further if you wanted).
The reason that it's the way to go is that you really don't need to get to the softcap. More recharge and health really does help a lot (faster attacks, faster Healing Flames, and more HPs to lose), and I have heard good arguments for getting +regen, too. You don't want to focus so much on getting defense that you ignore other benefits to your build. The builds in my sig all are in the low 20s for defense, and it really is noticeable (I used to have an alt build without defense, and I really noticed how much more he would get hit). You can probably get in to the 30s for defense to the three positions or Smash/Lethal without too much sacrifice and for an even bigger difference, too.
So I would balance it out. Yes, softcap is nice, but not at the expense of other parts of your build (which might help out as much or more, or be more fun).

i wasnt able to soft cap mine and i pretty much at the time had unlimited funds to do it..i think i was at 33% melee at best..mine now is built for recovery ,recharge and acc
fire aura has no regen abilities so i didnt bother with that.
This is the build I use now. It may not be the best, but it works well. It has become rather expensive though... and I am glad it wasnt this expensive when I built mine.

Oh, and for numbers, my EL/ has about 30% S/L defense and nearly +700 HP (use accolades).

This is the build I went with on mine. Took me a while to assemble it, because I had another goal involving the set bonuses, which was to keep most of them available under level 30.

I did think about that, but the gain to S/L is only 1.56%, which would get it to 42.8%, though melee would increase to 36%.
I could take those two and the one from Combat Jumping and throw in another set of Kinetic Combat into Boxing which would get him to 44.6% S/L.
At this point I am going to wait and see about the Incarnate plan. The difference in percentages for each area is minimal and not worth wasting a FreeSpec.
I am also hoping Castle tweaks Fiery Embrace if he looks at Fire Armor again, and that would change things a bunch. Shield is much better at the role of Offensive tank than Fire is.

That is indeed the dilemma....
Playing in mid's I am just not seeing how it is feasible to do this without losing massive amounts of other bonuses, namely: recharge.
Is there a solid fire tank build out there I could use for reference? Thanks
