Sunken City Base

Just thought I'd share some pix of the underwater hero base I've been working on over the past few months.

My friends and I decided that we were going to settle for a sunken city Atlantis-theme with modern technology fused in with the environment. I consider it a submerged section of Orenbaga that has been partially drained out and is now being used as a hero base. It is located at the bottom of Everett Lake in Perez Park.

It's still a work in progress but I can share a majority of what I've finished so far. Most rooms still could use minor details as I've only had time to flesh out the major construction in order to provide my friends with a fully functional base. One of the major hurdles I had to overcome was instead of focusing on making it look stunning, it also had to be easy to use and easily accessible by any player. I hope you like what I have done so far. There is a lot more work that will be added soon!

Badging in a PvP zone?

Thanks! It is a lot to take in, but once you master the stacking tools, the possibilities are endless. I'm still amazed at the different combinations you can create with simple furniture and proper lighting.

I owe it all to Turbo Starr and Rhynwa for the inspiration!

Very nice use of overall room lighting to create the "underwater" ambiance. Also, good job on using the "stand alone" lights to brighten your interiors.

I'm looking at using the same technique to split one big room into two different looking rooms... hopefully.

awesome base! I love the concept. The arrows and exit sign are a great idea too!

Love it!

One idea: Wall banners, as mentioned in other threads, look like water if both supergroup colors are set to light blue. You could use them to hide the "exterior" wall textures. Just make sure to face them backwards so the SG symbol is facing the wall, and of course hide the top and bottom edges.

Wow that is a really nice looking base.
My husband just happened to be looking over my shoulder and asked me what was I looking at.
"A Sunken City Base"
"Thats a Base???? Wow"
As I continued to scroll through the pics he said "thats was you can do with lots of money and time on your hands"
I had to reasure him that one day I would get our base to look that good.

Actually, looking at it it doesn't look all that expensive. Of course, it depends on one's definiton of "expensive". Lots of time spent, definitely. We'd have to see an overhead to get a good estimate of total costs.

Thanks for the compliments all! We started this base a week before the last Double XP weekend. It's also not fully finished as our power room hasn't been decorated yet and there are plans for further expansion. I'm going to change that long corridor.

As for prestige cost, it was not expensive at all... it cost us roughly a little under 2 million prestige. We have a 16 x 16 Secret Location plot. We have about 5 active people in our SG... all casual players in the evening. We don't have millions of prestige to work with so anyone can build with limited resources. It depends on what you use to maximize space.

Once you know how to use the stacking tools and a vision of what you want, it all becomes easy to put together. The only room that took a long time to work on was our multi-story workshop where we store our salvage because I wasn't sure about what I wanted to do with it. Other rooms took me an hour or two to put together because I would draw up sketches on my train ride to and from work and used the items that could best compliment the design.

Also a lot of inspiration is drawn from all the base builders in this forum. In particular, Oathbound's base had some great ideas.

all you're missing are a few Big Daddies, some Baby Sisters, a couple of crazed splicers, add a few ammo and health dispensers, some security bots, lots of Adam and Eve laying around and you'll be all set for BioShock 3
