Do Forts suck now?
It wasn't DR, it was a direct nerf to VEAT's. Their damage was nerfed to pretty much a joke. All they're really good for in a team setting is spamming attacks at stalkers just to keep them out of hide. In zones, they can still be fun, but it's basically just to web people and then use shatter armor on them.
Triple procd shatter armor makes any fort good.
I thought someone farted in a PvP zone, obviously I've been drinking.
Infinity and Victory mostly
dUmb, etc.
lolz PvP anymore, Market PvP for fun and profit
Theyre horrible. Pretty terrible. Unless you have billions to invest(and theres 50 million better things to invest in). Still pretty damn bad. Shatter armor is the only decent thing about them. Oh, their mez shield is also bugged. As much as a forts viability will increase in GR it will still suck by getting farmed(probably by sharks).
Do forts suck now?...
Yes, forts will continue to suck, and suck bad until they let someone new, someone with an understanding of what the remaining PvP community has been trying to get across about what was done back in I13. The complete neglect of PvP & the people who participate in it still, is a slap in the face to us all.
Its obvious to me that the person "in charge" of what was done to & with some classes such as forts either didn't understand, care, or was biased against them for whatever the reason.
The truely sickening part is that now due to (the much needed) increase of defenders damage(as long as they are solo) defenders will out damage a fort in PvP.
Aim+build up for a blaster, or build up+ a critical will take a fort down quicker than you can blink, but for the fort your constantly chipping away at them in a zone like RV all the way from one base, to until they run in the other laughing about the damage.
With pathetic damage, holds that last about a second, and defense nerfed into the dirt, Forts are merely targets for the enemy & distractions to let stalkers get off AS.
it was a little after issue 13 that they were nerfed to oblivian, right after issue 13 they were 'overperfoming', they were caught in the toning down of elusivity that hit all defense AND had their damaged nerfed to oblivian( they were actually decent damage in the pre-issue 13 PvP), one or the other would've been fine, but both killed them for pvp, of course you can proc them out that can help some, but....
The funny part here, they were 'outperforming' much less than tanks running around with fossilize. Of the Veats, i've had much better time on my bane and huntsman builds
Seems like there are threads like these every other week. It's true, forts seem bad. We do less damage then defenders now and defenses are negligible unless the toon is built properly. However, with a proper build and practice it can be an effective pvp toon. They can contribute to spikes with shatter armor, doing significant damage and some debuff, and can provide stalker revealing and some minor disruption.
I wouldn't go so far as to say forts are bad, but more that other archetypes are given such advantages that forts seem totally unappealing to the average player. I don't have the numbers in front of me since I went to see my momma today, but i'll try to go from memory. Forts share squishy base hp while blasters have the squishy cap, but 200 higher base? Forts receive only 10% inherent resistance while other squishies get 40%. In addition blasters can use tier 1+2 attacks while mezzed. So why play a Fort when you can get similar levels of damage mitigation base, higher starting hp, more damage, and the ability to attack while mezzed?
In a pvp setting and most other gaming settings, players will move to have as many advantages as they can. So understandably there has been a shift away from people playing forts towards playing blasters. In zones now there is a shift toward people playing scrappers/tanks, sacrificing a some damage for much greater survivability.
So back in the day (i12), Forts were all the rage. Couldn't enter a zone without getting spammed with dominate from every direction. But now it seems that hardly anyone rolls a Fort now, so I gotta ask, what part of DR made them so lol?
