The assault bot dropped it's hologram disguise, whirring and twisting outwards as it unfolded to it's full imposing height, it took a few steps, widening it's base, lowering its center of gravity, as Giant Killer targeted the wall.

With a might KRAK THOOM!! the Assault Bot launched a spinning wave of missles at the wall, blasting the closest people to the floor with a concusive shock wave, the missles designed to project their force in a forward manner.

The net result was a large section of the halls wall was gone, exposing but not damaging the support struts normally hidden from view, additonally a new way out had been opened for the panicing civillians, a way out that would become more tempting, once people's heads and ears cleared fro mthe blast.

The other bots continued to harass the civillians attempting to herd them out of the room with warning blasts of Stunning laser blasts, of course these blasts were delibretly aimed at the Humanity First members among the crowd, designed to cut out their nervous system for a few moments and knock them out.

Acid almost chortled. Almost. The temptation was strong. There was so much potential fun he could've had with those words. No. Now wasn't the time. He could jabber about welding rockets to buildings and make sexual innuendos about fire later. Right now there were more important things to worry about.

"Relax." he therefore merely returned Fox's glare with a casual smirk, raising both hands to shoulder height, palms open and turned toward the man to show they were empty, "I'm merely a historian. I just want a quote from him. Famous Last Words, if you will. And some details that didn't make it. We do like to educate our human servants in their histo-"

He didn't get any further than that as a bullet ripped through the fabric of his left pant leg and rammed into the hide beneath, kicking said leg out from under the scaleless reptilian and toppling him clean over with the transferred momentum. He hit the stage on his side, gravity rolling the Khelari over his shoulder and onto his back. Well, gravity in conjunction with the reflex of grabbing the injured leg with both hands. Oddly enough, just about any closer look would reveal that the leg's hide was unbroken.

"Sonova-!" Acid shouted loudly, vigorously rubbing the impact site that had assumed a somewhat purplish tint among the normal deep-green, "Right in the shin! I wasn't even doing anything, you inconsiderate jerk! Do you have any idea how much that stings...?!"

Britanic landed in front of Chimera, fully aware he was probably now in the way of some of those planning to try stop it. He didn't really care that was the whole idea. The way he saw it he had one of the most powerful regenerative metabolisms on the planet. If anybody couls soak up some of the damage Chimera was planning to release it made sense it should be him. Not only that. seeing as he barely recognized any of the other heroes present it made sense to him that he was probably the highest profile hero there. Couple that fact with his own previous conflicts with Mechano it was a good bet Chimera would see him as a suitable distraction, and give the others time to evacuate innocent civilians from harms way.

Of course it wasn't enough just to be a tempting target, he needed to really get Chimera's attention. Quickly drawing more negative energy into himself he then unleashed a flurry of charged punches at the creature...

Meanwhile

The Cape had told him to bolt which he had planned to do anyway, but now there was some freak lizard guy who wanted a piece of him. Quickly glancing back to Chimera, and then again to the lizard guy Soap Box realised he was between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Being totally unarmed he'd shamefully have to rely on the Cape who told him to bolt to now save his bacon. as luck would have it the Cape seemed true to wanting to let him live and fired upon the lizard guy. As Soap Box ran past he heard the lizard protesting that he wasn't going to do anything anyway. Funny enough Soap Box didn't stick around to see if he was telling the truth.

Masha, Molly ordered over the wireless connection between the team, her weapon still fixed on Mechano's goons while Crash and Splitter held their position around Chimera, ready to strike. Tail the runner. Capture him when nobody is looking. Florian I want you to -find Julia and get her to safety.

On it. Masha responded. Dare I ask why?

I have a feeling, Molly answered, a mischevious smirk forming on her face behind her holographic HUD, That he'll come in handy for something. I'll fill you in later.

Understood...

Masha then broke off from Florian to pursue Soapbox, hopefully while nobody was looking, while her partner turned his attention to finding Julia.

Erica, Molly called over. They're not listening. Start getting those HF morons out of here. Peacefully. Crash, Splitter, hold position.

At that moment, Molly let loose a stingball grenade in the direction of Mechano's men and opened fire on full auto.

A gun.

Julia needed a gun.

But she wouldn't simply find one just lying around. The poor girl took the risk to peek over the seats she had been crawling behind, flinching only when someone's missiles soared overhead.

Nevertheless, she looked. A gun. Julia needed a gun. How else was she going to get her revenge?

"Jesus on a jetski..." Sophie muttered, watching the triangles dance all over the shop on the map as she took a cautious sip of her piping hot coffee. "Must be one hell of a warzone down there."

Beside the young Katana chief laid a separate laptop, running what appeared to be a VOIP app in fullscreen. In the centre of the screen, a green phone flashed and bounced from an invisible floor while the words "Calling: Karl" repeatedly typed themselves beneath the animation and faded out slowly.

Then the man with the sorry excuse for an afro appeared on-screen.

"Karl, you busy?"

"Does gutting out these old beige boxes still count?" Karl answered with a question before taking a moment to wipe some sweat from his brow.

"Thankfully, no. Put that to one side for a moment. I want you to pull everything our servers are holding on Florian Uhrmacher and Julia Cravic, ball them up and fire them my way. Can you manage that?"

"What!?" Karl squealed. "Are you nuts?"

"No." Sophie answered calmly, keeping her eyes on the wireframe dancehall in front of her. "I'm angry, and I want answers. I'll take full responsibility."

Chimera was positively spinning from the wealth of attacks from all angles. Head still spinning from the psychic burst of energy that hit her head. Confused and now in the middle of a noisey melee she lashed out blindly.

"They...Kill...Da!"

The scream of someone not all there, of someone whose life was merely to be an unthinking, uneducated brutish weapon of war. This was how Mechano had designed her, simple, easy to manipulate and driven by one simple aim to avenge the death of one of her creators.

Unfortunately for Brit the lashing out was aimed squarely in his direction. For a moment she was bought down onto her hands and knees as the intense burst of gravity forced her down...tears in her eyes as she roars and clambered to her feet, Her energy claws hissing clean through the air towards him in an uppercut motion.

Her body was showing signs of the struggle that had been focused on her, bruises, cuts and dented cybernetics.

David was holding up a Camera.

"Are you getting all this Edward..."

"Yes...and I don't like it...she's clearly in distress...I may be a mad scientist but seeing her like this does not make me proud...get her out of there before that mob tears her apart...she deserves better than this...nobody deserves to be left in the hands of these monsters...she's but a child and like a child I must nuture her...extraction...NOW!"

David nodded his head and raised a gloved fist, the armed scientists moving to secure Chimera from amidst the melee. Aiming soley at the heroes around Chimera, making the definite distinction of avoiding civilian casualties.

"Steve...I think it's time to clear the crowd...a little radiation should do the job..."

The shivan dropped his clipboard and pen...moving towards the huddle around Chimera...

((Chimera current status:
Hit point total: 20.
Hit points lost: 8
Regenerated hit points: 2.
Remaining hit points: 14.

A smashing/lethal result of a 6 is 1 point of damage, a Psi result of a 2-4 is 2 points of damage, a Psi result of 5-6 is 3 points of damage, an 'elemental' result of 2-4 is 1 point od damage, an 'elemental' result of 5-6 is 2.

Chimera will regenerate D6 hit points during each of my posts (hence why I'm keeping them apart so long). If she is hit by something that slows regeneration (such as Lingering Radiation) then she'll only regenerate D6-2 hit points.))

Britanic's battle with Chimera was taking it's toll. Despite his hyper-regeneration and incredible stamina recovery every punch he landed against Chimera's electrically charged hide sapped more of of his strength. It wasn't long before he started to stagger. Then it happened...

The tip of her claws literally just pierced beneath his jaw when he made the desperate sidestep through Nether space. As his body phased into the Netherworld the claw passed through what would of been his head. The sidestep and his return to real space all happened so fast that normal human vision wouldn't of caught it. So when his body reverted to real space and crashed to the floor in a seemingly lifeless heap one of the panicked citizens screamed...

"IT'S KILLED BRITANIC!!!"

Soap Box heard the shout and desperately wanted to look behind him but he realised whatever happened might provide further distraction to aid his escape. Taking full advantage he ran to a fire door partially obscured by a stack of chairs in the corner of the hall, and lanched himself through it into the alleyway beyond.

As Soap Box hit the alley he crashed into some garbage cans. Brushing off his clothing as he picked himself up he looked from left to right trying to decide which way to run.

Ok I think this rally has done more than enough to help our cause even if it didn't go to my plan or whatever Partisan might of had planned for me. I better make myself scarce before I become somebody elses target of opportunity.

Disgusted as the shiny hero decided to push himself between her and the monsterous creation the blonde teen took a step back. Typical, the capes always thought they were better and more capable than everyone else. The anger in her grew further, yet in the moment she was forced to disengage she registered her surroundings again. Out of the corner of her eye she caught Soapbox's desperate bid for freedom and instinctively knew that that couldn't end well.

Turning on heel she ran at full speed through the panicked crowd, not caring who she barged into or knocked over in the process. Hearing the shout behind her only one word filtered through the sound of her heartbeat pounding in her ears 'Good', he deserved it for trying to grandstand and not being quick enough. If you're not quick or strong enough you die, it was the way of fighting.

Crashing out into the alleyway not long after Soapbox she fiercely yanked down the mask obscuring the lower half of her face and raised her voice "Hey!" She called out to grab his attention.

Soap Box turned to face the shout and was relieved to see a Blackshirt uniform. He took a quick look at her unmasked face but didn't recognise her as someone he had recruited. Still she had a more combat savvy look about her than the other Humanity First activists at the rally so he was more than happy to hve her as his ally.

"Seeing as you're on your own Im guessing you wasn't actually sent here to protect me. It doesn't matter though I'm just glad to see a friendly face."

With a nod she moved swiftly closing the space between her and Soapbox, knowing that time was likely short for them. Someone up themselves and all selfrighteous was bound to be along any second to try to arrest them at best or be one of those dark avenger types at worst.

"We've done enough, we're gettin' outta here" She declared firmly offering her left hand out to him as she claimed a small teleportational device from her pocket with her right. "Enough t'get us both t'the Isles"

Soap Box reached out for the unknown Blackshirt's hand. Their fingers almost touched when their was an odd green flash that impacted Soap Box from behind. Soap Box crashed to the ground bucking and writhing on the floor obviously in agony. His face contorted and twisted and large blisters seem to bubble up on his skin. The air started to fill with the unmistakable smell of burning flesh and smoke started to seep from his mouth nose and eyes. Soap Box was litterally cooking from inside out, and by the way his flesh started to bulge and redden it was ovious what was about to happen...

Vix winced, clapping a hand to her head at Chimera's pained shout.
"Chief...stop. Make it stop. That poor thing... This has gone way too far," she shouted over the din into the radio that was hooked around her left ear.
"...Understood. Fox, Wolf, pull back and stand down."
"Roger."

The Chief took a step back, powering down his gauntlets with exagerated care, even as projectiles pinged off his metallic form.
"Everyone... Cease and Desist. Agents of Mechano, please, stand down. This is NOT the place for this," he added, cranking up his vox volumne. "And you'd better not be about to try what I think you might," he added, quieter so the whole hall didn't hear, as he watched Steve the Shivan lumber forward...

A growled expletive escaped the teen as the horrendous scene played out in front of her, hands balled into fists once more she scanned all vantage points above the alley. Whatever was happening to Soapbox she couldn't stop it, and if the stomach churning scent in her nostrils was anything to go by there was no time to save him in.

What she could get however was a little payback before she got out of this huge mess. Spotting the sniper on the roof her eyes narrowed and she set off at a quick pace, seemingly not caring at the stink of burning skin and the smattering of gore that hit her leather jacket as the hideous blisters over Soapbox began to burst. Running and jumping she grabbed hold of a fire escape and clambered up onto it before storming up the metal stairs, determined to get to Whisper's location before he got away.

She didn't register the change in the Longbow agent's movements until it was too late. Peering back over the fire escape she caught a glimpse of him grabbing Soapbox's arm.

"WHAT THE HELL?" She yelled loudly "WHAT SORTA SICKO DOES THAT?!" she demanded as the man temeported from view leaving her with the twisted remnants on the alleyway floor. Inwardly she cursed, unsure what to do, she was already untrusted without teleporting back to the Isles with a bucket of Humanity First remains. But on the other hand maybe leaving him would be worse. Or maybe, just maybe he'd want people to know what was happening, should she make more of a scene?

Suddenly she felt her age. Young, and more than a little lost.

OOC: I don't know what it is about posting on these threads that brings me bad luck. My video card expired yesterday (siiiiiiiigh.) So, I am doing a bit of catching up. Unfortunately this means I may be slow in posting (double siiiiigh!)

Sugar and Spice had handled the stampede fairly well, all things considered. A temporary force field placed over Julia had ensured that, though bruised and battered, she hadn't been trampled to death. Other force fields had been placed over others that had tripped, left there long enough to ensure their safety, and then removed once the danger had passed. Still other force fields, carefully shaped, had aided the crowd by pushing aside obstacles and clearing a path to the door, or by blocking shrapnel and flying objects.

The PPD had gotten the worst of it, but even there, the worst damage was confined to bumps and bruises. Thankfully, the use of patches had not been necessary, although healing sprays had been liberally dispensed around. Spice spritzed Julia's general area with another dose of healing, while moving down the aisle and lifting a collapsed piece of rubble off of a group of shivering civilians, who promptly broke for the door. The force fields had prevented serious injuries from occurring in the group. Sugar moved down the other side of the auditorium, also searching for those who might be injured or trapped.

From the rafters, Lady Peppermint nodded to herself as she watched all the activity. The impressive display of powers had produced wonderful scans, already being sent to her personal hero/villain database to be sorted and classified. Such painstaking background work was one of the reasons that she enjoyed a reputation for precognition.

With most of the civilians and PPD out of the way of danger, Lady Peppermint moved positions, to get a better view of Chimera. In her hand she held an oddly-shaped gun, unlike anything else in the building. From it she fired a single shot. The pistol made almost no noise anyway; now, under the cacophony of battle, it couldn't be heard.

The air around Chimera shimmered oddly for the briefest of moments. Up in the rafters, Lady Peppermint checked an instrument on her wrist, and nodded in satisfaction. Given Chimera's past history, the Lady doubted that she would stay around long. However, the temporally-sensitive ink with which she had just been tagged was giving a fine reading. The Lady would be able to track her anywhere she went, at least within the immediate solar system. Even in the event that someone were to spot the ink and try to wash it off (something that Lady Peppermint considered unlikely, as the substance was clear and almost impossible to see) it would take much more than soap and water to interfere with the tracking. Ideally, it would remain unnoticed. The substance didn't sting and wouldn't hurt Chimera and, given the activity around, Lady Peppermint doubted that she even realized she had been tagged.

However, she was now curious to know where the attack had come from. A quick analysis of the data she had gathered was sufficient to give her a direction, and so she headed in that direction....

With Fox and Wolf taking their attention off him, Acid took the opportunity to bolt after Soap Box. His leg hurt, but it wasn't anything that laying in a fire for a while wouldn't fix, and that he could do later on. Right now he had to...

Aw spit.

The scaleless reptilian arrived outside just in time to catch the Humanity First underman in the process of soaking up some kind of green blast with his back, then come apart at the seams. Ouch. That looked rather painful. Things got even stranger when a leftover arm was grabbed by the oddball he'd seen wrestling with that PPD officer earlier - and Acid found himself unable to do a single thing about their disappearance. Fortunately, he at least recognized the characteristic flash of light of the vanishing act.

Type 4 matter transmission. Damn.

Judging from the smell of cooked human that pervaded the air, it wasn't hard to guess what had happened. The Khelari leaped back into the doorway via which he'd left the building, peeking carefully around the corner of the doorframe as he tried to spot the source of the green flash. With eyes that could see exceptionally well in even the lowest light, as well as possessed a modicum of sense in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum, his sight in Earth's environment was keen under just about any conditions.

Well, or at least it would've been if the atmosphere didn't result in Acid being nearsighted here. So on the chance that he wouldn't be able to find the 'shooter', he also did something else.

He concentrated.

It wasn't too hard, but it wasn't exactly easy either. Type 4 wasn't Acid's forte, and due to its lack of dependence on hyperspace much harder for him to feel. Still, they weren't impossible to track. He'd done it before. He just had to focus enough to pick up the scent, so to speak. Yeah. Just. Easier said than done.

Despite the difficulties, he gave it the best attempt he could. Where had Whisper and Soap Box gotten to...?

((Because some people need to slow the hell -down- a little... >.>))
The alleyway, just after Whisper's escape...

Masha stumbled through the door, struggling to catch her breath as she frantically looked around for Soapbox.

"Where the blasted hell did he gAAAAAGGGGHHH!"

The horrific sight of the Humanity First speaker's remains took the Russian entirely by surprise. A sudden chill ran up her spine and her legs almost gave up their increasingly difficult efforts to keep her on her feet.

"The hell?" She muttered, slowly rebuilding the will to press on. She took her first steps with caution, carefully approaching the corpse while keeping a keen eye on her surroundings.

Look up. It could be a trap. Remember to look up.

The next few steps were quicker, a sudden jolt of panic pushing them harder than she wanted them to be pushed, getting her within observing distance of the body.

"How... who could have done this?" she quietly muttered, before suddenly looking up to the sky visible from the narrow gap, the augmentations on her vocal chords firing up in her throat.

"WHO DID THIS!? COME ON, SHOW YOURSELF, COWARD!!"

She waited. And waited. And waited.

*******************
The skies above Kings Row...

"Woah, holy crud..." Sophie muttered, watching the wireframe map from the safety of the Schmidt. Near the back of the building, a large green, soft-edged circle pulsed, the sign of some form of energy discharge. Its origins, though, didn't appear clear. "Hey, bring the ship over the alleyway behind the hall, willya? I need to use the ventral cams for something!"

"Roger that!" The pilot confirmed. The Katana chief felt the ship softly bank to its left while she hammered a few keys to switch to the cameras on the underside of the ship. At first, all she got was a distant view of the alleyway, but a few commands got her a zoomed-in view, along with a little image enhancement.

"...Oh my god..."

*******************
The hall itself...

Molly kept her gun fixed on the chaos on stage, while Crash and Splitter stood their ground, refraining from attacking as per their boss' orders, but doing everything in their power to block the hail of bullets onto themselves and remaining prepared for anything.

"Do you really think they're gonna listen the second time 'round?" Molly yelled over to the 'Chief', "I mean, not that I don't agree with you, but..."

Meanwhile, Erica calmly approached any remaining HF recruits alive.

"Please," The robotic butler requested. "It is advisable that you do not throw your life away in your futile efforts. Please evacuate the premises immediately."

Resecuring her mask over her lower face the young woman leant over the edge of the fire escape to look at the new arrivals in the alleyway. "It was some longbow chump" she snarled before vaulting the edge of the escape and landing neatly in a crouch on the ground "Sicko took his arm as a trophy an' all" she murmured as she approached the rest of Soapbox's remains, still smattered in gore from his explosion.
