"Oh yes, im sure more explosions and flying rubble and debris is a much greater help than, I don't know, pushing a hole in the wall instead. Because, obviously, only meta-humans and Heroes are at fault when making things explode, naturally," Vix practically snarled, and it was clear her patience had pretty much worn through. The combined heavy healing and the problem of Julia, not to mention the throbbing urge to kill the girl was displaying, was taking its toll on the doctors temper.

"You're starting to annoy my friend," Wolf said quietly. "I'd suggest you stop lecturing, and leave. Now."

Though Masha was no longer wounded, a combination of shock, fear and simple diziness kept her pinned to the floor. The Russian simply laid there, staring at the tiny bean-like device laying next to her in an equally tiny puddle of her own blood while she tried to compose herself. Not an easy thing to do when someone you went out of your way to help shoots you in the head. Nevertheless, she tried, keeping her attention fixed on what remained of her monitor in an effort to ignore distraction.

Suddenly she felt her ears come under seige from a piercing scream up ahead. Julia. She couldn't ignore that. The robot had seemingly done the right thing in trying to restrain her, but he hadn't seemed to have taken the possibility of her current reaction into account.

As if the bullet wasn't enough, Masha felt a new headache coming on.

Julia needed to be put on mute and the Stiletto agent knew just the ticket. Lazily, she reached out for the busted device and picked it up by her fingers.

"Guuuuuuyyyyssss!" she groaned, still not feeling a hundred percent and that number started to drop once more. "GUUUUUUUYYYSSS! Use this on... on her!"

Altair looked between the arguing healer and the weaponised hologram-generating robot. She didn't understand a word of it and so turned to follow her friend. "Err, civilians were saved, giant monsters were burnt and now its leaving. I call that a job well done heroes" she said, with simple innocence. "About all this politicking, think I'll leave you both to it. I make it time to go, good day," she said flatly, before disappearing in a burst of jet fuel and burning rubber.

Vix sighed. The shouting was getting to her too. She reached out, grabbing Julia by the shoulders and staring at her with glowing eyes.
"Look at me."

The events in the hallway from Julia's perspective roared through her head like a bad dream, but Vix managed to blank it out as she absorbed the frantic panic. She'd had worse days. Much worse days, especially in the warzone.
"There...that'll either calm her down, or knock her out...either way the panic should be gone...I hope," she added. "But she'll need someone to talk to, after."
The Chief kept hold of Julia, careful to be gentle with the young woman, while Wolf moved over to help Masha to her feet.

Molly rushed over to Julia as she gradually slipped into a peaceful sleep and moved to take her off the Chief's hands. "Okay, I got her now." Behind her, Masha slowly pushed herself onto her feet with Wolf's help, which she quietly thanked him for. "It's sad, but this is probably the high point of her life, you know? Getting some decent zees and everything."

Sophie? She called out to the dropship. As she did the rest of the team gathered together.

Yeah, boss? Sophie responded.

Six to bring home.

...Just six, boss? And hey, still picking up the big bad down there!

Yeah. Chimera's being extracted. Florian's walking.

"WHAT!?" The German yelped as he suddenly stumbled mid-climb onto the stage, to which the pink-clad genius merely glared at him.

"Call in a fifteen-strong medical team to help clean up this mess, then walk home." Molly ordered, somewhat bitterly. " No cabs, no flight, no nothing, just walk. And I want to see you in my office tomorrow noon, or I'm restructuring your sorry butt to the mailroom!"

With that, the entirety of the Stiletto team, sans Florian, plus Julia, began to disappear in a slow flash of light. Of course, not before Molly turned to Vix and added: "Thanks, guys, I owe you three. No, make that five!"

Florian, on the other hand... he was left to do as he was order, silently calling in the medics as he stormed out of the hall.

The skies above Kings Row...

"DON'T scare the crap outta me like that!" Sophie barked before the team even had a chance to get their bearings after being teleported back aboard the Schmidt.

"Sorry," Molly groaned. The genius then leaned over the hacker to take in the sight that was the finished scanning script. In the place of the circle was now a green line pointing from Soap Box's position to a building overlooking the alleyway. "Right, forward that to the PPD and we'll send someone to investigate tomorrow. Whoever was there'll be long gone by now."

"Reckon it was a backup plan on Mechano's part?" Sophie asked. At the other side of the ship, Erica helped Masha and the sleeping Julia find a spot to rest near Britanic.

"Probably, but I wouldn't put it past Partisan either." Molly sighed. "In any case..."

"Oh!" Sophie interrupted. "I, uh, tried to check Captain Faceplant over there, but I think the scanner's broken. Might wanna check it out."

Molly appeared puzzled for a moment before turning to approach the fallen hero. Picking up the tablet from the floor, she attempted to run a scan for herself and garnered the same results as Sophie's, regardless of how much she adjusted the thing.

"Okay, that's real oddball." Molly muttered. "Everything checks out here. He's all nice and healed up and all, but... he's out real cold for I don't know how long."

"Glad to hear, boss." Sophie yelped back, her attention fixed to the scanner screen. "The, err, fact that it wasn't anything I was doing wrong, I mean. The coma thing... not so glad."

"Right," Molly uttered, rolling her eyes at Sophie. "Pilot, head back to the tower as soon as Sophie can report Chimera gone. We'll take a closer look at him at the sickbay before we consider sending him to a regular hospital and passing on our findings. Masha and Julia could use a ward bed too."

"Let's get out of here..."

((And that's Molly out.))

((Because I hate loose ends...))

Sometime after the chaos at Crowne Memorial Hall has subsided...

"Just typical! The Capes figured the assassin would be long gone so why bother try looking. Just leave it to the PPD to follow up... like always!" Grumbled an annoyed PPD Officer."

"Shut up Burrows. Crowne Memorial Hall was a mess, people were injured, and they had to make sure Mechano's goons withdrew withought causing any more trouble. Like it or not it is
our
job to follow things up."

Burrows turned to face the cybernetically enhanced police officer who'd just berated him.

"sorry CO... I mean Sarge." He quickly corrected himself. "I didn't mean nothing by it, I just wanted to be part of the action rather than the clean up detail."

COP sympathised with Burrows. He had wanted to be at the rally too, but because of his own history with Humanity First Captain Lewis completely vetoed the idea. Maybe had he been there he might of been able to save his old friend Britanic. Still Britanic wasn't actually dead. Apparently he was in some sort of coma, which meant there was still hope. Best bet was to get on with the job at hand.

"OK Officer this is room 7b. Any luck this is the one you want so you can hurry up and get out of my motel. I can't afford to have you guys hanging around scaring away all my business."

COP eyeballed the grubby motel manager smiling under his mask, pleased their presence had made the motel a no go area for the local hookers... well for at least as long as they were there anyway. The motel manager turned away from Cop and unlocked the door to the room. as soon as the manager removed his key COP walked past and into the room.

"Jackpot! Looks like we got our crime scene."

Burrows and some other officers piled into the room and all stood looking at the far wall. Graffitied in red spray next to an open window was the words "Suck it up Bigot, our kind is here to stay!"...

Chimera and the science team, along with Steve, used their emergency teleporters to get back to the Rogue Isles..somewhat of an abuse of the medical system but it was hardly uncommon.

Later that day:
Edward sighed.

"Chimera was not the success I was hoping for...I also did not anticipate her incapcitating my long time nemesis...that is something that disheartens me for I wished to have done that myself..."

Edward looked over the crying Chimera who was being gently comforted by David Thulian, "she's so like a child, perhaps not granting her the education she deserves was wrong...I shall have to continue my improvements...she was not ready for the world and the world was not welcoming of her, still reports note that atleast the speaker was terminated...that is good enough for me..."

"You survive for another day Humanity First...I will hunt down each of Mike's killers...even if I have to go to the very depths of hell to do so..."

Humanity First's HQ the Print Works, Steel Canyon...

Humanity First's leader and founder Partisan sat behind a solid oak desk. His metal prosthetic arm resting on the table surface while he stared at Catwalk through the eye holes of his metallic mask.

"It seems congratulations are in order. Everything went exactly to plan."

"Actually I think things went even better than you originally planned boss. Sure Mechano sent his monster and Soap Box ran straight into my sights like you said would happen, but you can't of known some idiot in a Longbow uniform would put himself into the frame, or that one of our own would disobey orders to be there and actually witness Soap Box's death."

Partisan pondered under his mask. There had indeed been some fortunate turns of events. The uniformed man's actions at the scene had inded been suspicious enough to ensure some blamed or at least thought he had something to do with Soap Box's murder. While Blackshirt Hailey 'Hella Hardcore's unexpected appearance would ensure that word of the treachery against the defenseless Soap Box would spread through the ranks making the unfortunate Soap Box the martyr Partisan originally desired. On top of that news of his hated enemy Britanic falling was a greatly enjoyed bonus.

Partisan stood up and walked out from around the table.

"You underestimate me Catwalk... Now that microwave cannon... I assume you disposed of it in an appropriate manner? I don't need to tell you how much damage could be done if any of our own discovers what we' have done."

"Now you underestimate me boss. Our secret is safe."

"Good! I have things to attend to. You are dismissed."

Catwalk gave a sloppy salute, turned and walked out of the room. Partisan sat himself back down.

"What do you think Snoop? Do I trust her?"

The air in front of the table shimmered as a masked Blackshirt de-cloaked in front of it.

"She didn't even hestitate in blasting Soapbox. I'd say she was either completely loyal or one of the most evil b*tches I'd ever set sight on."

"Still keep an eye on her. What about our curious Blackshirt? I don't need to remind you how delicate the situation is there considering her previous affiliations."

"I believe we have little to worry about there. There wasn't a hint of disloyalty at the rally. I think Alphaea has done a fantastic job of grooming her for the cause. If our little cage fighter is anything to go by I'd say we can expect from Alphaea at the the Rogue Isles Institute."

Partisan smiled under his mask. Humanity First was quickly becoming a far nastier monster than anything maniacs like Mechano could ever cobble together...

((Ties things up nicely... for now!))

Whisper sat in the room looking at the watch he had taken from the arm of Soapbox ... a plain back dial face, gold metal work, and black leather straps ... a smile slide across Whisper's face ...he finished fiddling with the timepiece ..selecting a red map pin he fixed it to the notice board above his work desk ...

The damage meant the second hand just jerked in place rather than progressing around the dial ..while the other hands continued to display the same time ...one minute to midnight...

Whispers smile grew as he selected a new costume from his closet ...
