Dr. Quaterfield Task Force sign-up

Hello Infinity!

After nearly 2 years of playing CoX, I have finally been seduced into making a forum handle and posting by one single hope: Eventually completing the Dr. Quaterfield TF!

My poor main has muddled faithfully along getting sundry badges slowly but surely, despite my alt-itis and multi-server presence. For over a year his search comment has mentioned the Dr. Q TF and every time I look at it, it irks me more.
So! To action!

I would like to ask anyone who wants to do the fabled 'longest TF' with me to say such, so that we may schedule a day and time well in advance that will work for everyone.

If I understand it correctly, the TF requires 8 people to begin it, and includes multiple missions requiring simultaneous activation of separate glowies. The minimum required security level is 40, and anyone above level 44 will be exemplared to that level, though retaining all powers (i.e. up to 49 - the last power level). It is blueside.

Ideally there would be eight intrepid heroes anxious to brave the 122-merits-worth epic, but as long as we have at least four up for it, I'd contemplate trying a run by getting four extra warm bodies to pass the good Doctor's initial inspection.

To get the ball rolling...

1) Remliel - Natural Controller (50) - Mind Control/Empathy
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)

I've done this a few times, including at least 3 on my main toon. If it's on a day/time I can make it, I'll come along. I do SG stuff Friday evenings and a scheduled TF Saturday at 1PM EST. So, Saturday evening/night or Sunday would probably work for me.

Unless you'd need something else, I'll probably bring my main: Ironblade, level 50 BS/regen.

Kinda depends on timing. It's getting to the end of the semester, so I'm pretty busy :/

I'm interested but my schedual is wishy washy and it comes out on short notice. So I wouldn't know if I could make it until acouple of days or the day before the date of the TF. LOL!

I'll keep an eye on this thread though.

Take Care

Likewise. You might be better off waiting until summer is in progress and the collegeates and high schoolers have too much free time.

I'll run it with you. I have a few toons that need it so I'll bring whatever we need.

The ball is still rolling! Good.

I appreciate the frenzy that many teens and twentysomethings are undergoing this time of year, and I'm in no real hurry (I've waited over a year after all ). I just want to start putting the idea out there, so that interested folks can gather and make it happen! Clearly it may take a little time to get enough people together and schedule something that works for everyone, but luckily we have asynchronous messaging technology to help us along.

Timing is flexible at this point, so assuming we find a window suitable for all of those who have put themselves forward so far, we have:

1) Remliel - Natural Controller (50) - Mind/Empathy
2) Ironblade - Scrapper (50) - Broad Sword/Regen
3) Scheol - TBD
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)

And possibly others as availability allows!

Glad I'm not the only one wanting to do this one.

hmm.... Never use small words when you can promulgate sesquipedalian verbiage, eh?

P.S. Firefox thinks sesquipedalian is an incorrect spelling. Ha ha! I love it when I know more words than a spelling checker.

My gut tells me you'd do better picking a time and then asking for signups than asking for signups and hoping to agree on a time. I know if I could write it on my calendar right now I'd likely offer my name but since I can't...

I'd like to join. I have a 50 stone tank named Blok who needs that badge. Of course, like everyone else, my availablilty depends upon the time and date. I work a M-F job during the day, and evenings on a work night are no good for a 6+ hour TF for me, so it looks like a Friday night or weekend day would work best for me.

Apologies for grandiloquence. It's somewhat of an automatism with me ().

It looks like we'll be ready to run soon, so a tentative date may be appropriate. I think a Sunday daytime is looking like the best plan, starting fairly early (for a weekend) in order to give us plenty of time without impinging on precious pre-work rest. Therefore, it seems promising to give it a shot on:

Sunday, May 2nd, 1:00 PM EST

We'll meet by Dr. Q himself, in Firebase Zulu (at location 6461, 1092, 188 for reference).

We have four participants set at the moment, as far as I know, with hopes that a firm time will allow others to commit, so our little roster is as follows:

1) Remliel - Controller (50) - Mind/Empathy
2) Ironblade - Scrapper (50) - Broad Sword/Regen
3) Scheol - TBD
4) Blok - Tanker (50) - Stone Armor/(Stone Melee?)
5)
6)
7)
8)

So, can those above let me know if that day/time will work for them? And those who have been uncertain about timing, hopefully this may work for some of you.

I'll join up for this with Turbospeed (lvl 50 ma/sr scrapper).

4) Blok - Tanker (50) - Stone Armor/Stone Melee

Okay, Sunday at 1 PM on May 2nd won't work for me because I will have to leave for 1 hour from 4:30 to 5:30. If we started earlier, that would be okay.....or the following Sunday would work for me just fine. Sorry to be a spoilsport.

Now.....if you didn't care if I went afk for an hour.........

I'd be up for this, but unfortunately I have commitments the next 2 weekends.

If for some reason, it doesn't gel for you and you decide to look at it again three weekends from now (5/14-16), I can bring either Isotope 167 (Rad/Dark/Dark 'fender) or Maurya (Energy/Elec/Elec Blaster).

I've done Dr. Q's TF once, with the Saturday afternoon group, and would like to see it through again.

As far as I'm concerned, provided we have enough people to click glowies, it is immaterial exactly how many of the team are online/present on a given mission. And on a task force this size, I would assume that people will need short breaks for food/bathroom/breathing etc. So, I would be unconcerned if you needed to go away for an hour (as long as you come back ), Mystery_Inc.

That said, we shouldn't drop lower than 4 people active/online (unless on one of the aforementioned short RL breaks) in order to keep moving forward.

The story so far:
1) Remliel - Controller (50) - Mind/Empathy
2) Ironblade - Scrapper (50) - Broad Sword/Regen
3) Scheol - TBD
4) Blok - Tanker (50) - Stone Armor/Stone Melee
5) Turbospeed - Scrapper (50) - Martial Arts/Super Reflexes
6)
7)
8)

P.S. Ad Astra, thanks for the interest. It looks like there will at least be an attempt this coming Sunday, but in all likelihood (assuming it is not a soul-destroying experience) I will be up for running it again sometime soon, (Rem is merits-hungry!) so, hopefully you can join then .

According to Paragonwiki, it does.
"You'll need to shut down all four computer controls simultaneously to knock Crey's portal off-line and deny them access to the Shadow Shard permanently. You'll also need to defeat the base's commander to make sure that they won't be able to re-open it afterwards. "

I'll hop on too if there's still room. I'll be bringing my 50 WS, Hanasawa-chan.

Having not done the TF before, I couldn't say for certain, but I often rely on Paragon Wiki and am rarely disappointed. Thanks for the wellwishes though TameDragon! I'd like to have at least four players online - just in case.

We do indeed have room, Blasted_Man, so the sign-up is now the following:

1) Remliel - Controller (50) - Mind/Empathy
2) Ironblade - Scrapper (50) - Broad Sword/Regen
3) Scheol - TBD
4) Blok - Tanker (50) - Stone Armor/Stone Melee
5) Turbospeed - Scrapper (50) - Martial Arts/Super Reflexes
6) Hanasawa-chan - Warshade (50) - (Umbral Blast/Umbral Aura)
7)
8)

Any thoughts on what you'd like to bring, Scheol? Looks like Blaster or support of some kind would be good, but I think we'll probably be fine with anything.

Still time to sign up, everyone! Any spots not taken by Sunday will be filled through last-minute recruiting once we meet up.

Thanks for reading!

Ok, so that makes us:

1) Remliel - Controller (50) - Mind/Empathy
2) Ironblade - Scrapper (50) - Broad Sword/Regen
3) Bozo TheSerialKiller - Blaster (50) - Assault Rifle/Mental Manipulation
4) Blok - Tanker (50) - Stone Armor/Stone Melee
5) Turbospeed - Scrapper (50) - Martial Arts/Super Reflexes
6) Hanasawa-chan - Warshade (50) - (Umbral Blast/Umbral Aura)
7)
8)

Still time to sign up if anyone else is interested in the Dr. Q TF!

PS. I'm a fool, obviously, and meant to say: Sunday, May 2nd, 1:00 PM EDT (as opposed to Standard time).

I wont be able to make it on that day. That is the exact time and day for my grandfather's birthday party. LOL!

My work schedual is so shotty that I usually don't know when I can make an event until a day or two before. Sometimes even the day of. LOL!

So count me out.

I wish you all good luck.

Take Care

I'm sorry, but as much as I want to do this TF, real life is going to prevent me from attending as well. With much regret, please remove Blok from the list.

Posted

Well, I have since found one more member, so we're still at 6.

It's a shame Blok will be unable to attend, but of course RL takes precedence.

So currently:

1) Remliel - Controller (50) - Mind/Empathy
2) Ironblade - Scrapper (50) - Broad Sword/Regen
3) Bozo TheSerialKiller - Blaster (50) - Assault Rifle/Mental Manipulation
4) Turbospeed - Scrapper (50) - Martial Arts/Super Reflexes
5) Hanasawa-chan - Warshade (50) - (Umbral Blast/Umbral Aura)
6) Mercykiller - Blaster (40) - Assault Rifle/Devices
7)
8)

We'll meet tomorrow at 1PM (EDT ) at Dr. Q. When we get there, we'll recruit for 2 more (either full members or at least fillers so we can start) and then we'll get rolling!

Let's do this!

We just completed the Dr. Quaterfield Task Force, with a very respectable time of 3:56:04!! There were a 'few' defeats, but be that as it may; we got 122 tasty merits and a shiny new badge! We had so many stealthers with recall friend, etc. that we were racing through most every mission to see who could click glowies or rescue hostages first... Hahaha

Thanks so much to everyone who came along, and also to those who couldn't this time but would have in other circumstances. It's definitely not soul-shattering, as long as you have no other pressing committments for half a day

Till next time!
