I stand on crates on the cargo map and spam web nades. Seeing everyone always ragequits out I am undefeated. Therefore brutes are obviously best.

He's talking about how brutes play, not giving some rule about the duel. Just because the brute may try to always stay in melee, doesn't mean the scrapper has to do the same.

I heard both sides of story from players in game, some telling me brutes would win because they would always be in melee, building fury, whilst others say scrapper because crits are more reliable.
