Hello,

My test server updater has stopped at Fixing files: piggs/sound.pigg, it wont go at any speed besides 0. It had been going between 70kb sec to 50 until this point. This has been a few days at this speed.

Is this happening to anyone else? Any suggestions? Perhaps delete the old download and restart?

Thanks

I've got the same exact issue and it just started about 3 hours ago. I left it on overnight because it had made great progress (330/948MB downloaded!). I figured 'hey , it's a third of the way there finally! May as well leave this on while I sleep!'

Right...well this morning I was greeted with a smaller progress bar. It was all gone. It was now reading 38b/948MB, and it was stuck fixing pigg files. Now no matter what I do, even if I refresh the entire process, it gets stuck on fixing the sound.pigg file at 8b/sec.

Well, here's hoping the issue gets solved soon. Maybe NC or Paragon will figure something out on their end.

If anyone has any clues or suggestions about how we might be able to speed things up or fix the current issue ourselves, please don't hesitate to post!

The Updater must be borked as it stopped with 28 seconds to go on my upload, now nothing. Seems none of us will be Beta testing Issue 17 until the Devs straighten this out.

I've been having the same problems patching as well, on both mac and pc. On pc i've moved pigg files from regular to test and that helped but I still have like 60 hours of patch time and most of it seems to be spent 'fixing piggs'. Apparently, Bob Barker wants me to control the pigg population but I'd really like to get on coh test instead!

Hmm, 194906 hours, 15 minutes, 46 seconds...

a comment form the devs would be nice i dont buy into the too many downloading at the moment.
Ive played many mmos and there test servers this is by far the worst test server setup ive ever seen.
no communication from the devs with regards to launcher issue and you cant even update the game to get in anyway my pc has been on over 48 hrs and the launcher says i have 2.6G to go whereas earlier it was 900 odd and it claims to be fixing pigs at 0kb
total time eta 779098:53:33
and im on a 12 meg connection or thereabouts.

Hmm, I have probably a work around.
You should delete all the CoH test server folders.
Next, in your main City of Heroes directory make a copy of CoHUpdater.exe and rename that to CoHUpdater.eu.exe. Run the .eu version once to update it to the European version (dont worry, the US version is still working), close it after it is updated.

Update the european version to the test version like it is explained in How to access the Training room (EU)

If you fire up the normal CoHUpdater.exe -test shortcut, install it in the same directory of the EU test version it should go quite a bit faster. The updater is still quite slow but should cost around the 5 minutes (a bit better then 100 years )

Hope it helps the lot of you.

Testing this solution, I'll post here if it works

Odd. Have done it this way an hour or so back, can select ultra mode (slow as hell on a 3870X2 o0) and Demon Summoning is also there.

im trying it anyway and seems to be doing the download maybe the post in eu test server forum is wrong and thanks for the tip seems to be working :-)

The EU servers went back to i16 on 5 april, before the open beta announcement. So its probably old news

Much better. (okay, I had to go back and actually, y'know, read the directions, but anyway...)

Or is it? At least this one is moving, but it's rapidly spiraling downward. Familiarity breeds endless downloads?

Just tried this and couldn't get the cohupdater.eu.exe to connect ever. Maybe trying to get from Iowa to Europe is asking too much

Hey all. I have an update! The test server install process seems to be working now...albeit very slowly. I left it on all day yesterday, quite literally; the good thing is that nothing ever got stalled, it went straight through and finally finished downloading. I'm finally in!

There is one thing I'd like to note. It's probably a coincidence, but on the off chance it isn't, I figured I should post it here just in case. About halfway through the update process (554/998M downloaded), I started playing Guild Wars. At the time it was running at about 20 kb/sec and claimed to have about 5 hours 38 minutes left before finishing. Here's where it gets interesting.

I only played Guild Wars for about 1 hour, if that. When I closed down Guild Wars, however, I found that the test client was completely finished downloading. Again this is probably a coincidence - the client may have dramatically picked up speed at some point for whatever reason - but the timing was awfully convenient.

So - if you have Guild Wars and you still haven't been able to download the test client - go ahead and test this theory. I am really curious to know if Guild Wars really did somehow give the CoHTest updater a boost. Based on what I know about networking it is possible, but not likely. If anyone ends up trying this, post here on what you find.

Also having trouble with this workaround. I've been trying to connect for over 20 minutes, it's on it's 28th try now. This situation is very frustrating and discouraging.

Mine's currently fixing pigg files as well, it took well over 3 hours to fix the sound.pigg file. It got through that one and is moving on at a slow but steady pace from there. I think there were some major changes to the sound.pigg file which it is changing one at a time... irritating really.

This fixed it for me, thanks!!

I just tried something else, and it's working for me, so I'll share.

In your "CoHTest" folder, delete everything. Copy your CoHTest.exe (C:\cohupdater.exe" -test) in to your CoHTest folder, then go back to your main CoH folder and copy the "piggs" folder to your CoHTest folder, once it's done copying all of those files over, run your CoHTest.exe.

I just did that, and I'm rolling at 206kb/s with 1 hour remaining.

Hope this helps =)

Maybe the NA updater got fixed? Because it's like the second thing (copying only the piggs) I tried and it would always stop at some file fixing with 199374 hours to go.

It froze on me about halfway through with like a million hours left, so I stepped out for a cigarette and came back and it was updating again with about 1 hour left, needless to say, it's done updating now.
