Targeting through a player rude?
I can't imagine it was a very new one, since that is a system that would directly punish anything like a support class for actually doing their job.

Playing my Kin I got chewed out by a scrapper for targeting through him. I said "My heal needs people in melee range of a mob. You're within melee range of a mob." to which I got a "It's rude, stop leeching."
So... uh... since I usually play melee and love when the ranged target through me (especially when I play one of my tankers), did I miss a memo about keeping someone targetted to target through them being rude? |
I'd be honored if someone did that with my scrapper,

Anyone who cops that kind of attitude when I'm on my Kin finds itself suddenly without speed boost. Heck, I even avoid healing them at all if I can. If they want to be rude, then they don't get my buffs.
Too many alts to list.
Scrappers are touchy, clueless, reckless, little balls of hate. I should know, that's what I play the most.
Anyone is welcome to target through my scrappers. I would recommend to not Target Assist with debuff anchors though . There's a game a defender buddy and mine played. Things were going well if I killed the target before the snipe went off. |
Miles Vorkosigan: "Excuse us, please."
Lord Vormurtos: "Why not? Everyone else has. It seems if you are Vorkosigan enough, you can even get away with murder."
Miles Vorkosigan: "So if you truly believe that, why are you standing in my way?"
Sort of a non-sequiter, but on my kinetics I changed my transfusion to blue and my transference to green.
Calling it "leeching" is still inexplicable. Offhand i don't know any definition of leeching that would make the Scrapper's statement make sense.

I know it sounds stupid, but you'd be suprised how people think this game works. They must not believe in randomness.
I actually believe the OP should have just told that scrapper he was better off soloing. Then he could get all the drops.

What I guess is that the scrapper was annoyed by all the effects consistently happening in his proximity. And he probably thought that you were just following him around spamming your powers. I think the whole issue is not really too big a deal. The scrapper is probably not quite familiar with how kinetics works. Sometimes, the gameplay of CoH is a little repetitive and a person might be mistaken of being a leech.
Hmmm. I generally play a rad defender so my debuffs don't leech per-se. My biggest problem is grumbling at newbie scrappers and blasters who immediately streak toward any glowing mob. I'm not clear why it takes so long to explain the importance of leaving the anchors.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
I agree with everyone and say that scrapper was just being a dork.
Perhaps he came from another game where XPs were tallied differently.
I cannot for the life of me remember which MMO does this, but in order to counter "power-leveling" there was/is a game I have played where half of the XPs are evenly dividing amongst team/group members and the remaining half is apportioned by the amount of damage dealt by each individual team member. Since I have played a "dozen" MMOs in the last 10 years, I have no clue which one this was.
