The last time I played, MA was actually used.

I wonder how much time and resources went into creating the MA. I imagine it was probably one of the biggest undertakings in the history of CoX.

Now it sits there, all but abandoned. Many servers are ghost towns, at least for characters trying to level via teaming.

When I last played, MA was used to powerlevel. The same way that regular missions have been used to powerlevel since the game's beta. But for some reason it's different when everyone can do it.

I could do without powerleveling, but one of this game's crucial features (for me) has always been team play. As I sit here on sunday evening, with lots of people sitting around the black market, unable to find a team to save my life, I wonder if wasting time and money on MA only to gut it and drive your subscribers away is really the best strategy.

First: the subscribers weren't driven away Nox.

The actual charts from NCSoft's financial reports are floating around on the forums somewhere. In terms of consistent subscribers, nothing changed.

Second:

Okay. You do know that powerleveling is considered an exploit, and the developers have been known to take steps against it... for years? If you didn't, now you do.

And... unless my memory is wrong, most of these exploits were addressed as well... with everything from drop rates to experience per mob getting adjusted to make this less appealing. Where you going somewhere with this statement other than just laying the groundwork for why everybody who was actually paying attention since before I13 was announced saw the AE anvil dropping?

Nooo.. No different. See above: the developers had already taken several steps against the most obvious powerleveling techniques used in the game. Perhaps you missed Super-Sidekicking which was also introduced as a method of getting rid of the bridged player accounts?

Okay. Change servers. Join a badge channel. Start your own team. Really, it's not that hand.

/b Me: Starting Newspaper Mish: shout if interested
/b Player: I'll join!
/b Player1: I'll join too!
me: /invite Player
me: /invite Player1

See? Not that hard.

I always see someone in there when I walk in to work on my missions on Freedom (on Cap, yes). And that's in the morning on a week day. By the time I log for bed at eleven to noon (night shift worker), the place usually has a good half dozen or more people in there.

And yeah, starting your own team isn't too hard. I hate having the star too (I don't multitask fast enough it appears), but it's better than not playing a team when you want one.

Here's a thought: is the flashback system in this game unique to this game? Do other games offer their player base the ability to retrieve any content they had missed along the way either through Orobobo(for the anal-retentive amongst us it's Ouroboros) or ex/mal?

I'd imagine at the very least 50% of the player base would cease power leveling if the ability to return to lower level content was removed. This is obviously a bad idea to implement now, since flashbacking, in whichever manner, has been a staple of what makes this game great since it's inception.

So where's the compromise? Should there be a compromise? Are the majority of the player base, as well as the devs, of the mindset that "it's my way or the highway" with respect to those of us who have played content from lvl 1 to 50 and back again for months if not years?

So how do we fix the PL problem in this game?

It's impossible. At most the devs can make powerleveling more difficult and/or less lucrative, but there will always be a method that's faster than anything else. If that method is significantly faster than the average leveling rate, that's when the devs start clamping down.

LOL wut? Flashbacking has NOTHING to do with why pling is so rampant.

There was pling BEFORE flashback existed in game.
